How the hell do you get stabbed 11 times and play the whole season, and turn around and miss a Christmas Day game?
What? Did he get shot?
Watch out for Ray Allen though, he will be shooting a little more in Pierce's absence.

Yep, i'm definitely looking for Ray to take on more of the scoring load. He'll need to get at least 25 to make up for the absence of Pierce.

I don't think Ray should get that much FG attempts. That's not a wise idea, unless Ray starts getting hot. Garnett should get some and I think Perkins especially should get more touches.

I agree that Garnett and Perkins have to do more, but with Howard guarding Perkins, i just don't think he'll have the opportunity. If Ray was out, i would expect Pierce to pick up the slack and go for 30. Ray has been a great scorer all throughout his career. I think he's capable of getting 25-30 points in the absense of Pierce. Neither Tony Allen nor Bill Walker are great scorers. If Ray isn't providing that extra punch, i have no idea where the extra offense is going to come from.

I'm sure Ray can get 25-30 points; I don't doubt his abilities. I think the best chance to win the game is to give the big men more touches. If Perkins get more touches, that means more chances that Dwight Howard will foul Perkins. Once Dwight will be in foul trouble, then it opens up more high percentage shot opportunities for Ray.

This really hurts us, short term, and long term. Not having Pierce is going to kill us. I hope Tony Allen plays like he has been the past week. We're about to see a lot of SCAL from now on and thats never good except for an energy boost for a second.
This 2 week stretch, if we struggle, might prove costly as it will make our chances at HCA even more difficult.

Hahahaha. Ok. Deal.
Seriously though, hopefully we have no more injuries. We've already been without Big Baby, then we lost Quissy, now Pierce for a couple weeks. Hopefully everyone can get 100% healthy later in the season and we not have to worry about injuries anymore.
I wish we could make some simple trade and acquire a player like Trenton Hassell or maybe sign Bruce Bowen. Someone for cheap who is a decent defender and can hit an open jumper from time to time.

I just looked at the skedj, they only have 6 games in the next 2 weeks + 1 day:

@ Clippers
@ Warriors
@ Suns
Toronto
@ Miami
Orlando and Phoenix are the only games that worry me. But Baby will be back after Orlando supposedly. That will help.

Ray will attack the basket when he recognizes that his shots has a very high chance of not being blocked (said that in an interview). If Dwight, a great shot blocker, is in potential foul trouble, that opens up more shots for everyone on the floor. Ray has good ball handles and he's a good passer, so that will benefit the team even more.
The more Ray is involved in offense, the more he's going to help the team. (More FTs = higher FG% in his FG attempts)

That schedule isn't TOO brutal, but you know with the way Bos has been playing this year, losing to Indy and Philly and having to come back from 15 against Indy last night, you never know.
GS almost always plays us tough the last few years.
I would be very pleased if we went 4-2 during that 6-game stretch, but its more likely to be 3-3 or 2-4 if we mess up against GS or LAC.

I disagree.
1) We have back ups for those other guys:
Sheed/Scal/ And Baby when he returns for KG
TA for Ray Allen
House for Rondo
But for Pierce we have TA playing out of position. I don't see either Ray or TA doing well guarding SF.
2) Pierce is Boston's closer.
in a close game Pierce has the ability to take over even if he is off like the other day. The Celtics are going to miss his ability to be a triple threat type player sure Ray is a sharp shooter but he can't create his shot or shots for others in the same fashion as a Paul Pierce.

2 weeks shouldn't have that much affect on Pierce making or missing the ASG. However, if you care about his legacy than you should know championships is what strengthen resumes not ASG. Perhaps Pierce is better off missing the ASG and getting rest so he is fresh for May/June.
Even without the capt I like their chances against Toronto and even @ Miami. Hell I wouldn't be suprised if they beat Orl and Phx but I don't count on it.

Pierce apparently had an arthroscopic wash out of the knee joint. Hopefully it will improve after the wash out and with antibiotics. But with joint infections, they can linger and it wouldn't be surprising to see him out longer than 2 weeks because they sometimes require repeated irrigations.

this is a good time for Rondo to take the next step. He has been playing good lately avg'ing 14/11 this month but he is going to need to aggressively look for his offense like he did when KG went down last season.
Also this mgiht be a break through opportunity for Tony Allen. TA has looked solid so far in limited mins but he has always been a player who has been much better as a starter then a reserve. Hopefully he can be a nice surprise for the Celtics.

Yeah, the only teams they really have to worry about the next 2 weeks are Orlando, Phoenix and Atlanta who they play twice. Other than that they play the Clippers, Warriors, Raptors(twice), Heat and Nets.

You're nuts. You are not even keeping it realistic, and don't give me that "am I Celtics fan and I believe" BS. We're not winning this game without Pierce. Truthfully, I didn't think we were going to win with Pierce. Stan Van gundy is a crafty coach. I fully expect the double teams he was going to use on Pierce to now be focused on Ray Allen.

Its 1 game. I'm not saying the C's can beat the Magic is a series without PP (although that's not totally out of hand either), but if KG, Perk, and Sheed defend the paint and someone fills in for PP's point production, they can surely win. The Celtics without PP are still better than 75% of the teams.

Pierce brings more to the table than just points production. I'm astonished that you think that. Pierce brings so many intangibles to the team.. i don't even want to get into that right now.
Magic are going to kill the Celtics tomorrow.
As a side note, Orlando has lost to Detroit, Oklahoma City, and Miami twice. The Celtics are better than all those teams even without Pierce. They can win tomorrow.
We're the Magic healthy? Last time I checked, the Magic beat the Celtics without Jameer Nelson. Now they're fully healthy, and the Celtics don't have they best player.

I dont think that, but they can cover for him for 1 game.
The Celtics without KG beat a comporable Magic team 3 times in their playoff matchup last year. If they can win without KG thye can also win without PP.

That's why I said "comporable". Last year's Magic team won 59 games. This year's Magic wont win many more than that, if it all.
Its sounds like you've bought the inflated BS that Magic fans have been spinning about their team. I really have no more to add to this thread; lets just wait for the game.

I know what Karma is I'm not an idiot.
He didn't fake, he thought he was hurt and came back... And still that only affected him. That's not inducing Karmic punishment in my opinion, it's just coincidence.

From Rotoworld:
Coach Doc Rivers said Thursday he expects Paul Pierce (infected knee) to be sidelined for less than the two weeks reported in the original prognosis.
Rivers said Pierce's original return date was a "guesstimate by a doctor who never played basketball. I think it may be shorter than two weeks," he said.
Good news, but Pierce will still be out until early January.
Pierce = ultimate faker.

I like how Laker fans are pissed that Bostons best offensive player leaves a game, supposedly injured, to only come back and still beat LA.'
How long did he leave? 5 minutes? Probably 3-4 minutes of actual game play? And you still weren't good enough to make a run on a Paul Pierce-less Boston team? F*cking pathetic. LA literally had 0 chance of winning in 2008. You should've just forfeited the finals.

It doesn't matter if he had a reason or not.
Fake: bogus: fraudulent; having a misleading appearance. Fake is a term used to describe or imply something which is not real. A document or other object created to look like a real object that exists.
Fact. Google them pictures. Pierce made it look pretty real. Yet, after that game there was never a document of an MRI examination, and much of the issue was pushed under the shed by the Celtic community. As a fan of basketball, we don't tolerate those actors also known as floppers and injury fakers. They are a pathetic excuse for real competitive basketball.

I dont think Pierce faked his injury, but even if he had, who cares? :confusedshrug: Did it affect the play on the floor? Was it cheating? Its called gamesmanship; no different than trash talking, trying to get inside your opponent's head. If the pro wrestling-style selling of the knee injury had the desired affect, then PP should be applauded. :applause:
PS - football players do this all the time; faking an injury in the dying seconds to stop the clock. That's actually closer to cheating than what PP did, yet no one criticizes them.

The Magic played terrible.
