Saw that on TV. That was pretty damn insane. We never really get to a chance to see him jump as high as he can but this was pretty close. He should make top plays just for getting his head above the rim. :applause:

I saw that on ESPN as it happened. They showed it from another angle (from the free-throw line perspective, facing the basket) and I swear his head was at least half way above the rim. I don't think I'ver ever seen anyone get that high in a game before.

The fact that he was even able to save the ball from sailing out of bounds is very impressive. It was a horrible f@cking pass. It looked even more impressive seeing it during live action because I had already chalked it up as a turnover as soon as Mo threw it, then he just explodes up and snatches it.

Yes he did, for the Spurs. I remember him having a 1 on 0 breakaway in a game against the Grizzlies, I was so f@cking excited that he seemed to be moving is slow motion... and then he just did this little mini-double-pump-2-hander. I was so damn disappointed. I wanted to see something crazy, something epic... all I got was something average. Booooo.

It's actually pretty understandable for someone as strong as Lebron. Lebron has ridiculously strong quads/calves (you can see it in pics and on TV). When you leap off one foot, it's not really utilizing "fast twitch" muscles, it's utilizing your normal muscles (at least this is what I've always felt). And Lebron is incredibly strong in his legs. He probably doesn't have a super high amount of fast twitch muscles, though (comparatively), which is why his two-footed and hop step leaping isn't nearly as elite.

I've always gotten up way higher on quick leaps for rebounds, blocked shot attempts, pull-ups etc. than on one-legged leaps for layups etc.

Yes he did, for the Spurs.

Well, he's definitely still explosive off one foot. I do think his two-footed jumping has regressed since his rookie season. It makes sense though, when you factor in the weight/muscle that LeBron has added.

I don't know, the fact he runs so fast kind of goes against the idea of him not having a super high amount of fast twitch muscles. You have to view him compared to power forwards in my opinion, he doesn't get up as high off two feet compared to elite level swingmen who are much smaller than him, but compared to PFs of equal weight he's elite off a two foot plant.

No, it actually helps my argument. Lebron's first step from a standstill is not elite (as in, top 5 all time for 6'6"+ players, like his one-footed leaping is). Heck, Amare pre-injury had a quicker first step than Lebron. Lebron's end to end speed is what's amazing, and that requires you to hit your stride, which is largely fueled by your main quad/calf muscles. I'm pretty sure that fast twitch fibers are for explosive movement in any plane (vertically, horizontally etc.).

1st tell me what are these normal muscles
2nd how is leaping of 1 foot not using fast twitch muscles
3rd How could lebron an elite athlete in a game where you use nothing but fast twitch muscles not have a lot of fast twitch muscles.
4th muscles can only move in 1 direction, wtf are you talking about vertically horizontally.

We're just appreciating the leaping ability of the guy. Why do we gotta be slurping? Can we not appreciate certain abilities of players that may awe us? Geeze.

who uses Slurping anymore GOBB? seriously it is 2010.
LeBron James is a great leaper of 1 foot.

I dont get why everyone seems to be so impressed by this. Lebron is 6'9, the rim is 10'. Maybe his head got 6" above the rim. That's still less than a 4' vertical. Nate Robinson is like 5'8"? His vertical easily is over 4'.

4' as in 48 inches? 48 inches is an INSANE vertical. :oldlol:

He weighs like 270 pounds. You're right, it's no big deal :confusedshrug:

Impressive...

But I still dig Shannon Brown's block (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2zyWVieESg&feature=fvst), because he's shorter than LeBron!

Yes but Lebon is like 270 lbs.

Yeah, I'm gonna search through thousands of pages to prove a point to a dude asking for relationship advice about an online girlfriend on a basketball forum. :oldlol:

Get real, bro.

So what? He's still 6'9" and has a huge strength and mechanical advantage over a short guy like Nate.

Nate is 180lbs, which is very heavy for someone his height. How many guys his height are you aware of that can even dunk the ball?

LOL maybe you shouldn't have posed such a question with me in this forum. I have a friend, well actually he is just shorter than Nate at 5'9" and he is 205 pounds. He can not only dunk a ball, but get his elbows almost at rim level.
