Anyone here a fan of these two epic franchises. I've checked blizzards site continuously everyday for updates ever since the trailers came out. I'm so stoked. I remember doing nothing but playing Diablo 2 and Starcraft afterschool during my high school years. good times.

But what bums me is that sc2 will be cut into 3 games. with the toss coming in last, which are my fav race. so knowing blizzard, we wont be able to see the ending until 2015 at least :lol

Never played Diablo 2 or Starcraft... but I'll probably give Diablo 3 a shot. More looking forward to Star Wars: The Old Republic though.

Looks like starcraft II is soon to be released. When you purchase the game you get a free beta key.

Amazingly, it's not Blizzard's biggest property. That honor goes to World of Warcraft, which will receive its third expansion, Cataclysm, later this calendar year. Blizzard is also working on Diablo III, the third game in their hit role-playing series. It's currently planned for release in 2011.

Starcraft 2 is uber playing in beta atm, so fun and competetive. Best RTS ever for sure, gonna dominate RTS genre for quite some time.

Doesn't Starcraft get the award for longest wait for a sequel? When did brood wars come out 1998?

Big fan of both franchises before they hibernated.

Yeah it did, ppl played it till now, the only let down of BW is it's graphics and that's understandable. If you can live with that horrid graphics it's damn good game. SC2 however is good in every RTS aspect.

I just couldn't see myself playing RTS's now. I might get a heart attack with all the pressure.

Wonder how Diablo 3 might play. Will it be more Baldur's Gate like?

I just used the lazylauncher to check out the units on a few maps (AI terrible of course), but ive seen more then enough of SC2 to know that ill get it when it comes out, even knowing I wont be able to play it much before I leave.

Only complaint I have (and note, this is just from tinkering around with the units against shizzy AI) is that Terran will dominate in late stages. How could they not? BC's always dominated in the first SC, but now you add Thors on the ground and they cant be stopped. Even the immortals get pounded away pretty quick and if there is even a slight mix of lower level troops (Rines or Rauders) then that is taken care of. And Zerg? psssh, what hope do they really have?

Ultralisks get blown apart by the BC's and im really not impressed with the Brood Keeper.

Activision making a push to lock in their subscribers before tor. Something around $150 up front for a 1-year commitment to WoW, then d3 is "free".

The commitment is up front, but you don't pay all the money up front...you continue paying monthly for WoW just like you always were.

To go with D3, we also get guaranteed MoP beta access and an in-game mount for WoW that's a flying horse modeled after Tyrael from D2.

For me, it was a lot of free stuff because I was going to play WoW for the next year anyway.

I have the d3 beta and it looks dissapointing tbh. But yeah I'll be playing wow just like I've done for the past 5 years like a robot so getting a free copy of diablo 3 isn't bad. Yea I've had the beta since the friends and family testing phase. I wouldn't say I don't like it. Its more of not living up to the hype but this is just judging from not even half a chapter in the game. If its anything like the solo grind that diablo 2 was endgame its not going to work. This is an american mmo not a korean one. If blizzard keeps that model now people will just rather play wow.

You're right. The money isn't paid up-front. It makes sense for players like you

Activision is casting a wide net here. How many people do you think will (or would have) cancelled their WoW subs to try sw:tor, or to have more time to play d3? I'd go so far as to say, most people who go for this deal, were only interested in d3. Blizzard now has roughly 2.5x the cash they would have received if this group only bought the d3 title. After a surge in subs when Cataclysm was released, it's continuing to flatten out. I'm not crapping on WoW, or anyone who plays it. Using d3 to puff up wow subs is the way it looks to me.

He called out, Price, Sanchez?A man came around the corner. He was the first non-WASP that Id seen in this town.Well, unless you counted Jasons dad and his sisters. They, at least, werent blond. But Sanchez was nicely dark; other than skin tone he looked like all the other guards. They all had this stamped-out-of-the-same-mill feel to them.Rowe was the closest to his own person, but everyone else smelled of a system that trained large groups of men to fight other large groups of men. They came out of the military straight into another kind of unit, which had not helped them lose their cohesiveness. He talked as he moved in front of the minibar to stand beside us.

They wanted to show the man the wedding dresses, Sanchez said.I looked at Shad.I stepped forward and offered a hand to Sanchez. He looked a little startled, but he gave me a good handshake. He had small hands for his size, or at least for the shoulders that were straining his suit.
It looked like hed hit the gym a lot recently, and hadnt bought the next size up suit.It made his gun show very stark at his hip under the jacket.Rowe said, Sanchez, you gotta get a bigger jacket, man.Your gun shows bad.Sanchez shrugged the big shoulders, though he was only about five foot six, the shortest guard Id seen among Petersons people.Maybe thats why hed hit the gym so hard; compensation. His eyes were so brown they were almost black, darker even than my own.He flicked the eyes to Rowe with a frown, then said, Not in front of The mark, I said, the job, what do you call the people you babysit? He gave me a speculative look out of those very dark eyes.Youre from out of town.

He made it a statement. You have no idea.He actually grinned, before Shadwell said, If theyre changing clothes you and Price can stay outside the room.Sanchez shook his head, frowning again. They arent changing, but our orders were explicit.Until further notice we do not lose sight of ourhe glanced at me, then finished withcharges. He said the last softly, as if it wasnt quite the word he would have used if one of the charges hadnt been standing in front of him.I smiled at him, and something about the smile made him shift, or maybe the gun was digging into his side.Your jacket fits nice, but its harder to hide a shoulder holster, he said.Oh, hed noticed the gun.

Bump to this thread, maybe someone else will share their experience about sc2 other than Dolestimanos. Maybe I'll get someone into sc2 scene which is like a sport, esport which has players making hundreds thousands of dollars, representing teams participating in tournaments in the whole world every month. The scene is active so much that you can have something to watch and discuss at any point of time.

Throwing here video with some of the best players highlights from tournaments http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0B_oiJTcDI

The weird thing about the sc2 pro scene is a new person wins Code S every time and a new person wins a tournament every time, for the most part. I mean there is certain people who win a little bit more, but there is constantly that guy out of nowhere.

I'm interested to see how that will change three years from now.

Hmm. There is NesTea and MVP who has x3 GSL championships each, then there is MC who has 2. There has been 12 GSLs in total, 8 championships are taken by 3 players so... I agree with you only partially, there is sometimes guy out of nowhere, but not that often.

Leenock was pretty out of nowhere at MLG, especially because of how well runner-up naniwa was performing.

Then the following tourney at code S it was jjajjki out of nowhere to beat Leenock who suddenly made a big name for himself.

I know Leenock and jjajjki(I'm spelling that wrong) are good players, its just they weren't "household names" or anything.

What I'm trying to say is that there is more small name players who are good stepping up and in turn there is more and more popular players.

I enjoy SC2, mainly watching streams tho.

I got placed into Bronze back when I didn't know what the hell I was doing, don't think I'll ever get out.

I generally have great macro (better than a lot of diamond players I have seen) as a Protoss I'm always disciplined into probes + pylon production, upgrades and base saturation. However my micro, building placement and unit composition generally completely sucks, and I get beat by every cheese possible even if I scout it.

I usually like to watch whoever out of Whitera, Huk or Axslav is streaming, I try to watch the tournaments but cannot stand many of the casters.

If you play you will get out of it. Since you have good macro you should improve on what you lack. It's strange that you watch streams yet cannot do well such things as building placement, just pay attention as the ones you watch do. While WhiteRa's stream is like most entertaining stream to watch ever it's not that useful for learning reasons because he plays so non standart also the stuff he does won't work for you because it requires extremely good mechanics.

Strange about the casters, people just love most sc2 casters. Don't tell me you have problem with someone like Artosis/Tasteless/Day9...

Its the simple stuff I struggle with sometimes, like efficient wall offs and cannon placement.

I like the Tasteless/Artosis combo, and Day9 even though he talks out of his ass sometimes. Apollo is another good caster who knows his stuff.

On the other hand when Gretorp and Orb come on I immediately go for mute.

TotalBiscuit even though I'm from the UK I don't 'get' him casting SC2, he is an asset for the gaming community in general but not in this role i believe.

Agree on Gretorp and Orb, TotalBiscuit is fine if he's paired with knowledgeable caster. Apollo is in high masters so ofc he knows his stuff, but he's good caster not only because he's good player aswell. Look at Gretorp for example, he's GM I think (well atleast he played in NASL so he gotta be somewhat good) yet he's awful to listen to as caster.

Thorzain was so happy to win, really nice to see. He really dominated the series from what I saw.

I thought Nerchio might do a bit better. His ZvZ is really good and thought he'd make it past monster, but he lost on some coinflips. He needs more experience at LANs and I think team acer needs to send their players out to america for the MLG's and IPL's.

Ret's win over Genius was awesome as well. I kind of assumed Genius would just win it all.

Speaking of Koreans, Puma continues to struggle a bit at LAN's, something I'm not used to.

Terrible results in his groups at IPL 4 and DH. I really like his play and I hope he picks it up.

Damn..... I'm hearing some REALLY bad things. Supposedly it only takes 6 freaking hours to beat on average. People are PISSED. Here's a comment on review.

"Diablo 3 is out. It took 11 years to make. The graphics look 10 years old and its only 6 hours long. But don't worry kids you can buy hats with moms credit card!"

The rage i am hearing is people who cant get past the login servers. It definitely takes more than 6 hours to beat the game. Ive been playing for 10 hours and my guy is only level 22. That quote you posted sounds like its just from some random hater, the graphics and physics are great, definitely not 10 years old.

btw, the game is incredible. I have been anticipating this game for a decade and I think blizzard delivered.

Do I need a nice rig to run it? I can run Wow without problems for most part but I had serious issues with SWTOR.

Yea I think most of the negative reviews stem from frustrations with the servers than with the game itself.

I'll probably buy it sometime this weekend. Think I'm going to go Monk.

It has higher requirements than wow, but I have been playing on my old macbook pro with a crappy 256mb video card and it runs fine on my comp.

I have been loving my Monk, made it up to level 25 and act III so far. The physics engine in the game is suprisingly advanced, and monk really showcases the physics engine by letting you throw enemies all over the place, very fun.

Diablo III DRM :facepalm
It's probably the main reason I won't play this game for a year or so. No point in getting frustrated over not being able to play a single-player game because the company's servers are broken. This is going overboard when it comes to piracy/hacking protection.

I wasn't anticipating Diablo 3 too much. I loved the first 2 games and especially played the hell out of Diablo 1 online even with item duping and constant hacking around. Then a couple days ago I got excited about this until all these reports.

The servers are not that bad. Aside from a few hours on release day they have hardly been down at all. DRM is annoying, but the game is way better without hackers/spammers, and in diablo 2 you couldnt play your online characters when the servers were down anyway (and who actually played a single player char in diablo 2?). I think all the crying about the servers and DRM is totally overblown. All things considered I think the release went really well. Then again, I also liked the ending to Mass Effect 3. Some gamers will cry about anything/everything.

I just killed the last boss in the game and moved on to Nightmare difficulty on my Monk. My only gripe is that the game is too easy. I hear that it gets harder once you get to hell and inferno difficulty, but so far this game is pretty easy and forgiving compared to diablo 2.

I kinda want to play Witch Doctor. Too bad my computer passes req's with flying colors OUTSIDE OF graphics   . It says I can run Wow or SWTOR with low-med settings but not diablo 3.

should be fine. any computer made within the past 5/6 years should be fine.

I suggest getting somebody to hook you up with a guest pass to try it.

The servers have been operating more or less flawless for the past few days, but the game still has 2.5/5 stars on amazon because of people raging that they couldnt log in at 12:00 on release day :oldlol:

This game is an instant classic, 95/100 in my eyes. Little details like the soundtrack will blow you away. Playing this game in the dark at 2am with the sound turned way up was one of my best gaming experiences in a long time. The more that I play, the more it feels like a continuation of diablo 2 (with next gen graphics and stuff).

Finished this on normal yesterday in about 15 hours on a Monk. Got to level 31. The detail in all the environments is really impressive. I wish it was longer though. But I still have 3 more modes to complete plus whatever they add in eventually. I wasn't even rushing either. Just playing with a friend and we explored every area in each section. Going to start over on a Barbarian in between playing Nightmare on the Monk.

Hopefully I can get the new laptop this week and play some D3. No monthly fee right? Just the initial game like D2?

For those already playing it.. does D3 have a pet/minion class like Druid and Necro on D2? I heard Witch Doctor? That's something I love in RPG's and it's important! :D. Witch Doctor looks most interesting to me anyways.

There's no monthly fees. Witch doctor is the "pet" class but I've herd it doesn't live up to what the Necro was (what i wanted). He gets zombie wolves which apparently die in 1 hit after act 1 and later afew other summons but not the 100 dudes youd get with a necro. I only played abit of my witch doctor before making a demon hunter, had fun but wished i could customize him so he wasn't a shaky old man.

I'm playing through on nightmare mode now, best game i've played in a long, long time. Had issues connecting for the first 2 games but has been fine ever since, I'm in australia so occasionally have a small amount of lag but nothing that's breaking the game or causing me to get angry with it.

I think i'll keep playing it for awhile, nightmare mode is sufficiently different gameplay wise to make me assume the higher difficulties will need new tactics again. Being able to seamlessly join friends games works really well too imo

Diablo 3 is garbage. It takes roughly 5 hours to play through the game on normal, then you go into nightmare mode which is the same except bosses deal more dmg/have more hp.

The game plays fairly easily through hell and then when you reach inferno its just stupid. it's a constant gear check and nothing else, it isn't skill based whatsoever. But the game is an absolute joke at end game. There is no pvp whatsoever and trading/farming is absolutely pointless as there is an auction house with an unlimited amount of items at every level.

Essentially the game is a complete waste with virtually no replayability.

I just got my account hacked yesterday. a level 60 barb with 800 resistance.

I'm actually kind of glad I got hacked. I dumped many hours into this mediocre game just because of nostalgia from D2 and item hoarding.

It was sucking the life out of me. Now its a good time to walk away from this game. To be honest, its not even that good.

Hmm, I didn't get hacked in D3, I'm level 60 barb goin through inferno, runnin the fk away from elite/boss slowly waring them down or dying over and over again. I found hell the best difficulty, prolly because there were deaths but there wasn't 1 hit deaths constantly.

You know what is funny to me, the vast majority of the kids crying about how the game is difficult or pointless never even played diablo 2. These dudes were like 7 years old when diablo 2 was being released.

I have not been hacked. Get an authenticator and stop downloading toolbars and shit for your browser. I am having plenty of fun clearing Inferno on my Monk. Everyone crying needs to learn to play, or go play a game that is not repetitive and pointless (how about modern warfare 3 ?? :oldlol: )

Those are useful when you have somewhat decent mechanical skill already, because if u watch pros play you can't make build orders that they use to be effective. Up until diamond just pick some decent not too hard build orders and play reactionary, build up ur mechanical skill and game sense. When you are in high dia+ it's when watching pro streams helps, as you get good builds and ideas which you can do it yourself. My PvT was worst mu, then i picked up SaSe's double gas with 2probes expand into pressure build, learnt how to transition out of that in and it's my best mu now, i beat mid masters terrans no problem usually (I am high dia on eu).

Btw if someone from eu playing add me eXeSakkreth.147

Been putting in a lot of work on SCII both 1v1 and some 2v2's (I normally don't play those). I just made it to number 2 in my bronze ladder.

I used to have trouble doing basically "all in's" and not being able to recover (which is why they are called "all in's"). Mostly I've learned how to scout, and counter. Put on some pressure, figure out what they're gonna do and then switch tech to counter (whether that is moving up in tech or moving down and rushing in with marines/marinetank/MMT).

I've played 16 games 1v1 today, and only lost 2. One fair and square, the other was a DT rush ! Basterds! :oldlol:

I learned some good builds but like you say you gotta have the mechanical skill. I feel like I have really improved over the last few days.

I would send an army down to engage, and if I lost I would always remember then, I should have been building infastructure and/or units to help replace and set up counters. I've really done a great job improving that flaw in my game over the last few days.

I'm watching Puma v Alive (NASL Season 3 playoffs) on this stream (http://www.twitch.tv/nasls3). Holy hell  these guise are fantastic at late game strategy along with great back and forth exchanges for control of the map.

I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but scouting has made a huge difference! I scouted this guy right off the jump didn't see anything, left my scv in his natural, came back saw he was getting 1 gas, left back to the natural, came back one last time, dodged his queen and ran into a group of roaches.

I immediately threw down a bunker and started tech to get cloak banshees. Held off two attacks from his roaches and denied his scouting by killing an overlord. After the second wave came and crashed broken upon my mighty shores I had 4 banshees. Flew over stumbled upon his 3rd made him cancel, took out his natural and he gg'd.

If you're not any good, SCOUT!

There really needs to be a separate D3 thread. I can't believe you guys got hacked. I've been playing since launch and not me or anybody I play with has ever been hacked.

I too am going through Inferno right now, and while it is very hard, I actually like the challenge. It is doable with the right mix of skill and strategy. Ironically although gear will help there are limits, and videos I've seen on Youtube of people clearing some of these zones are wearing worse equipment than me.

IMO it's the best game since D2 and is every bit as fun to play. :confusedshrug:

Oh also I've been making about $5 a day since the real money AH went live, so the game already paid for itself.
