Well when you have one of the best players at dribbling off the shot clock on your team, you're bound to pick up a few things:

Steve Francis, influencing other players for the better.

I think you have to evaluate teams regardless of opponent and regardless of outcome. You can win and play poorly and you can lose playing well. I guess, once we get into the season, some teams are measuring sticks (SA, Pho, Dall), but basically, worry about yourself...

The Knicks did the following things that were good:

1. Moved the ball. They moved the ball for about 3.5 quarters with good success. Q shot the ball well, he was also open alot. It was from ball movement.

2. Showed some depth. Francis, Marbury, and Curry went down with fouls and the K still played better in the OT. I would sya of the 3 OT's, the KNicks played better in 2 of them.

3. Made a big defensive play. This is not a good defensaive team, we all know that. They have ot make some defensive plays, the game last night was decided on a defensive play, Crawfords straight-up steal. (Curry also had a nasty block)

4. Marbury played well and under control. Yesterday's Marbury was superstar, max-contract, build your franchise around him Marbury.

5. Despite poor D, generally, the locked up Mem's best shooter (Miller) and forced the other guys to beat them.

The Knicks did the following things that were bad:

1. Panicked and went one-on-one, hoisting bad shots, when things got tough in the 4th. All the things that have been bad about the knicks for 5 years were present last night.

2. They didn't run. They didn't run because the couldn't defend and when they did defend, they really didn't rebound well. All the things that have been bad about the knicks for 5 years were present last night.

3. Jamal Crawford's final shot(s). Nobody freezes the ball the Crawford. You'd think coming out of training camp and a timeout, the team would have a very good idea about what they wanted ot do with the game on the line. Obviously, they did not.

4. Renaldo showed that he is not ready for prime-time. 3 fouls in 5 minutes. Nice energy, but not ready.

5. Francis. Oh, Francis. I used to be a fan, but Marb was too effective with the ball for you to be effective. This will never work, and that's sad.

I see your point for the most part but I have to disagree with these to a degree.

The Knicks ran for almost 3 quarters. Since your eyes saw things differently than mine I'll point to the 30 fastbreak points off of 13 Memphis turnovers as evidence.

They stopped running because the refs started calling the game differently mid-way thru the third. The game changed on them and they struggled to adjust properly.

Which lead to the one on one's and bad shots. The Knicks guards, much like Memphis' guards, were able to get into the lane more or less at will. The Knicks started focusing their attack on this but couldn't finish once they got a reasonably good look.
