Un-be-lievable. I was gonna start a thread myself.

He had a lane from like 25 feet out all the way to the basket to build up speed to take off. Duncan should've realized that there was nothing he could do.

AI & Tony Parker are. Bron not on thier level. We do know. And these same announcers who say this crap about Bron said it about AI & Tony. What happens is a person/commentator/analyst/fan is HYPE for the time being so they are very impressionable and vulnerable to saying outraegeous crap.

Next Hubie will say he would be the best WR in the NFl.

AI is quicker thats for sure. But those tall guys who seem to move slower often move faster by covering more distance. Like vince young. If I had to put money on it im not sure I bet against the Lebron, Marion, and Gerald Wallace types if they raced AI and Parker types.

Fastest I think ive seen a guy on the floor move is either TJ Ford, young AI, young Kidd, or Michael Adams. Adams seemed to float

Barbosa on a break last night seemed to outrun himself. Well no. hard to put it in words. but he threw the ball ahead and kept ranning past it. almost fell out of bounds after he overshot the basket.

He runs like Kidd used to. Its so fast partly because he runs without the ball. no realdribble just throws it ahead and beats everyone to it.

Notice how this nasty dunk only had ONE thread on ISH. If this was Kobe, instead of LeBron, there would be 3 pages in ISH's forum filled with theads of this dunk. We would hear about it for years; heck, we have heard about Kobe's PRESEASON block on Ray Allen (which was nothing special to begin with) for months. Then Kobe groupies will say, "did you see that dunk!?!?! Kobe's head was at rim level (even if his head was at least a foot away).

My point? When people say, "look at these Bron groupies"...it just doesn't make sense. There are no LeBron groupies. There are no Wade groupies. There are no Nash groupies. There are no Iverson groupies, etc., etc. Every player's fans, GENERALLY, are smart and rational. However, the same can't be said about Kobe fans (aka groupies).

They're foamposite so they're definitely going to be heavy. I weigh damn near 200lbs myself so shoe weight is no big deal to me. What's more important is how smooth they are as far as flexion and heel to toe transition. And 1 Chosen 1's are one of the lightest shoes I ever wore but the heel to toe transition is so clunky and unnatural I damn near trashed them

The Mamba
11-04-2006, 03:10 AM
And 1's always seemed to fall apart on me, when I used to hoop. Although, I make alot of sharp cuts, etc. Nike for some reason have always clicked with my game, and my feet.

DatZNasty
11-04-2006, 03:19 AM
I use my And 1's for my plyometrics/x training, running on the treadmill, outdoor hooping, and indoor hooping and the traction and overall performance stays the same (though the outsole is finally starting to peel on my Open Run's) and they're all light and have great traction. With my Nike's, just from indoor hooping alone they usually don't last as long.

Either way though, nobody can guard me. Best shoe I ever wore was an Adidas, A3 Superstar Ultras to be exact. Adidas recalled them and I sent both my pairs back to get the check, but I'd kill for a DS pair in a 13. After that the Kobe Mesh Playoff's, then Nike makes an appearance with the Flightposite KG's.

LeBron on Duncan though, nasty. He had one his rookie yr over Duncan with 2 hands tho.

I'm curious what LeBron's standing reach is. The ball looked so damn high on the ESPN replay, but now that I look at his feet they aren't that high off the ground. I'd say very average for an NBA player, on that particular play, yet he still somehow finished the dunk...

Look how far out he starts. You dont get as high when you go that far laterally. He took off just inside the ft circle.

Good question Clutch, I know that info is out there somewhere because I remember reading it. Even before he played his first game, he was bigger than the 6'8 240 they like to list him as. I'm finding he has a 7'1 wingspan but nothing on his standing reach. I'm 6'0 though in shoes and mine is about 7'10 and I have long arms as do most players so even if you just assumed he is 9 inches taller than me and gave him that much on reach that would put him at 8'7 but how does the extra height correlate to arm length?

MaxFly
11-04-2006, 04:19 AM
The best part of the dunk has to be the commentators' reactions. You know it was a big play when you are able to get the commentators, who've seen a lot of basketball, as excited as they were. For a second there, they sounded like fans just rooting. The layup got the same reaction as well. Lebron really had the ability to get people out of their seats... Hopefully I can get that poster. Poor Duncan, lol.

You're not making a whole lot of sense to me man. We all know he gets WAY up most of the time when he dunks, but that's part of my point. What I'm saying is that he didn't seem to get up very high off the ground on this particular dunk but somehow the ball is still extremely high above the rim and he still managed to put it down over Duncan. I assume he's got one hell of a standing reach/wingspan.

11-04-2006, 02:24 PM
LeBron is creative with the ball and making plays but he is not a creative dunker. I think part of that is how big he is. Look at the dunker who did insane creative dunks its when the were are thinner and lankier. LeBron is built like Malone. if Malone donked like LeBron in the open court we would never hear the end of it.

I wasn't strictly talking about dunking. He's just never struck me as very creative, on a Jordan/Dr. J/Kobe/AI/TMac level. In the air, on the ground, with his handles, whatever. But he impressed me last night.

Who cares how high he jumped, Lebron was guarded by Bowen(best perimeter defender in the league) and completely loses him going around another spurs player than goes straight down the lane at Duncan (9-time All NBA 1st team defender) and slams it home with authority. Early candidate for dunk of the year.

i think i see what you are saying, as far as globetrotter/air-jordan sort of moves..... but in reality - not scooby doo, how can you not be creative when getting 6-10 assists a night? he passes as close to magic johnson as we have in the league now. i'd say kidd, nash, and lebron are the best highlight dish men in the league. so that's creativity.

he's also creative in that he knows the game. maybe that's calculating, but these days it can masquerade as cleverness because so many are dolts when it comes to rotating and playing passing lanes, etc.

straight jumping in the air and doing acrobatics i agree he's too big for that. he's karl malone size and dunks like doctor j + nique. the jordan comparisons are in number, midwest local, and domination. no one compares his dunking to jordan.
