shawn bradley has to be up there besides all the blocks.
now i take "defensive rating" with a grain of salt, but here is the list of players with the worst defensive ratings for players who've played at least 250 NBA games, averaging at least 20 minutes per game:
here (http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/psl_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=1&type=totals&per_minute_base=36&is_playoffs=N&year_min=1947&year_max=2010&season_start=1&season_end=-1&age_min=0&age_max=99&height_min=0&height_max=99&lg_id=&franch_id=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=&qual=&c1stat=mp_per_g&c1comp=gt&c1val=20&c2stat=def_rtg&c2comp=gt&c2val=105&c3stat=g&c3comp=gt&c3val=250&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=def_rtg)
some notable names:
ronaldo blackman, kiki vandeghwe, nate robinson, mahmoud abdul-rauf, jose calderon, kevin martin, bj armstrong, monta ellis, steve blake, john paxson, scott skiles.
take it for what its worth; i don't buy the list completely (joe dumars is ranked 60th worst or something... bs) but it is interesting to see some players on there that we currently view as bad defendrs (calderon, martin, rudy gay)

Amare is probably the worst defender of any mutiple time all star in recent history. Especially true for players at the 4 or 5 position.

thats idiotic. Dirk aint the greatest but he is nowhere near the worst.
He was noticeably better than Antawn Jamison when they played together and he has only gotten better at D since then.

Barkley is probably the worst of all the all-time greats especially his last 7-8 seasons

Ummmm..... Magic, Nash and the forward on 90's warriors, whos name has escaped me (chris Mullin) are the three worst all star level defenders I can think of.

Co-sign. He was one of my favorites, but defense simply wasn't his forte.

I never really got to watch him, so I can't say. Houston Barkley and Detroit Dantley were pretty terrible too.

Has to be Nash simply because he plays the most minutes of any bad defender. Opposing PGs just walk into the lane on him. But I can't say IN NBA HISTORY... that's bold statement. haha. I'll go for worst in the league.

I think it was statistically proven (don't ask me how, I think ESPN did it) that Beno Udrih had the worst defense among all player who had started at either guard spot this season.

Steve Nash has always been great at taking charges, from that alone it takes him out of the worst defender race. People just love to hate on him.This.
It's because of the two MVP's. People can't stand the fact that for once, a Canadian-White pass first type of player won it instead of the same old typical Black-American all scoring but no defense SG/SF.
It's a shame too, because Nash really is a great player. I got a Steve Nash Orange Phoenix Suns Jersey hanging in my closet right now. :pimp:

Man to man?

it depends on what were talking about, If we mean overall career then theres one list, if we mean guys who hung on to long and were awful at the end then you can add several guys who were GREAT defenders in their primes(Ewing was god awful defensively at the end) so id be more interested in leaning towards career wise.

Is that Robert Traylor picture from a commercial or is it just something that he does in free time?

Elliot Perry?
Hell who knows, Nash is better than some of the players none of us have never heard of over the last 60+ years, so asking "Who's the Worst Defender in NBA History" is pretty much just retarded. And to think Nash or Morris Peterson is even more retardeder.

gotta give some mention to Peja Stojakovic, especially now where he can barely move.
Ridnour's pretty horrid too lol

:confusedshrug: Tractor Traylor baby!!
anyway.. the worst defender in NBA history is probably some bum nobody hardly knows. uhmm..
what about Mike Iuzzoloni? 5'10 PG who played two seasons ('91 till '93) and averaged 25 MPG. His defensive ratings in those two seasons were 118 and 115. he has played 122 career games and has 19 wins and 103 losses. :oldlol:
lol at all the people mentioning future HOF'ers as all time worst defenders. Yes, some might kinda sck on D, but there's always some complete scrubs that play worse D.

02-24-2010, 07:30 AM
Bad defenders can often be hidden on good defensive teams, so it's hard to tell, especially because it can't really be quantified by statistics
But Tmac was all defensive 2nd team, so he's not in the argument
