Trucker hats, especially Von Dutch.

http://sparklingwhine.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/popped-collar-3.jpg

Popped collars, especially more than one and different colors. I used to wear long sleeved shirts and pop the collars. If I met me in 2004 I'd punch myself in the face.

http://urbantakeout.files.wordpress.com/2008/07/messenger-bags.jpg

Messenger bag instead of a backpack. If you had a messenger bag in high school you were considered an alternate mysterious loner, and that meant you were cool. What's he got in there!?

http://www.extra-mile.com/pinspatches/graphics/AV-columnbrace.jpg

Message bracelets. LIVESTRONG was cool for a while, and the only reason I don't wear my Paul Pierce one is because it ripped after 5 years.

http://www.footlocker.com/images/products/large_w/16418102_w.jpg

I use to buy every single color. I must've went through like 30 pairs in high school. I was into BBoying when I was younger, so I would buy the all white ones and get these huge fat laces of all different colors and wear different colored laces every day. If I wore a black shirt, black laces, red shirt, red laces. God, I'm cringing at the thought of it.

And if you wanted to be really different:

http://www.everyjoe.com/files/624/2008/09/puma-roma-68-italia-2.jpg

That's all I can think of right now.

Popped Polo collar is bad now? Since when? I think collar looks better upturned. Wearing more than one though, I gotta agree that's bad.

I still use messenger bag to my job, only now it's a $500 bag instead of the cheap GAP one I got in uni.

The only thing I can think of that I'm guilty of doing is the messenger bracelet thing I guess is what you called them. Ever since 10th grade, I have to have one on each wrist or my wrist feels naked. Like it literally bothers me lol.

Oh, and I like Polos as much as the next guy, but my God, the popped collar thing is so ****ing douche lol. Multiple popped collars is just ridiculous.

I sport the faux-hawk sometimes. I know other dudes probably hate it on me, but it looks good on my damn head, and the ******* enjoy it...its either faux-hawk or shaved head for me.

I have one incredibly flashy Ed Hardy zip up sweater that I can hardly wear in public without feeling like an incredible douchebag. I still sport it though with like a beater under it if I hit up a pool party or something....part of my Vegas phase....

Finally, I wear a kangol hat especially when I havent cut my hair in a while. I look like a fake Irish but goddamn it looks good, gives me the airs of an artist.

At least I dont do the fedora thing. I tend to punch people who wear fedoras

think I have you all beat in embarrassing fashion trends, only I am older so the trend was older...

there was a brief 1-2 year span in high school in the early I went through where somehow I had accumulated alot of gold jewelry....

had a really big herringbone necklace...along with a big link necklace...

http://www.blinginice.com/AdminArea/ProductThumnail/Figaro%20Chain%20Gold.jpg

so that was 2 huge gold necklaces at the same time...

and then a big old gold nugget braclet...

http://tanosjewelry.com/mediac/400_0/media/Nugget$20brac$20006.jpg

and then..not done yet, lol...had a big gold watch on the other wrist...

along with gold hoop in ear...

SMH...

I never bought any of it either...I can't even remember how I got some of it, probably takin it from other kids or gambling or something...but I can remember one point where it was damn near Mr.T like...

I was pretty ******ed out, but I never once in my life talked all wiggaed out...thank god...you wouldn't ever catch me calling my white freinds "my n*ggas" or anything like that...or my black freinds for that matter...unless it was in a joking fashion...

I had a mullet when I was around 6. And then again in grade ten or eleven for a week, but that was a joke.

I also had the bowl cut.

Grade nine was my worst year for bad trends, it was when I skateboarded lots and I wore some pretty stupid flashy shit. Basically the more vibrant the shirt the more people wanted it around here for a while.

Then around grade ten I smartened my ass up and quit dressing like a moron.

Personally I loved starter jackets, I had a Sixers and Charlotte Hornets jacket and they were the warmest jackets that I ever remembered having. I kinda got off tracked into just thinking of random 90's trends instead of listing bad ones. So no Starter jackets are not a bad trend, if i could still find them today the way they were in the 90's i'd probably buy an Eagles or Phillie's jacket.

I know I remember hearing stuff on the news about them, its crazy the world we live in. I remember hearing a story a couple years back about some guy tried to steal an iverson jersey off a guy in Philly and the guy wouldn't give up his Jerseys so they shot him and took it from him. Iverson heard about the story and contacted the family and paid for all of the funeral expenses. That was nice of him to do that.

There was one kid who I went to highschool with who wore one of those every single day, along with his Abercrombie sh!t and a queer looking haircut. I seriously got angry every time I saw the guy. He just looked like such a f@cking tool.

Not trying to be mean, but I laughed at kids like you. It honestly could have been you for all I know.

No offense. I bought one in my entire life, wore it for a month or two in junior high, then threw it out. Those things were ridiculous looking. I have no idea why they were so popular.

When I was in junior high (late 90s-early 00's) the "preppy" look became very popular. I was one of the last kids in 7th and 8th grade in my group of friends to go away from the "athletic" look to the "preppy" look. After a while I thought it was just wrong to go to school in anything but jeans or khaki shorts and a name brand shirt (mostly American Eagle or Tommy Hilfiger). I swear we were worse than girls in the locker room after athletics. There would be 10-15 guys crowded around the mirror with their hair gel fixing their hair. Fortunately fixing my hair with some sort of product was the one trend from that era I never gave in to.

Yeah it was definitely a "douchey" look. Considering all of my friends were athletes who used to wear nothing but athletic clothes, it's kind of weird (in retrospect)that we all tried to transform to the preppy look.

ugh i never had those ugly jnco things. i dont know how those ever became popular.

trends guilty of:

-hollister clothes. i still have a few flanels to this day (they're pimpin though).

-still have a few grunge flanels too, hard to pull off anymore

-wearing nike/sporty clothes to school was popular in middle school. you'd look like a retard now though

-famous stuff. i have a logo earing and a few shirts. they're kinda corny now

Screw that. Athletic clothes were and still are better than the extreme preppy look. I went back to that look my junior and senior year to purposely get away from the preppy look. I still prefer a pair of athletic shorts and a t-shirt over a pair of jeans and a polo.

I got all my brothers hand me down clothes up until I got taller then him, so i'm sure I had plenty of clothes that were out of style by the time I got around to 'em.

I was a wannabe gangster when I was a teen, so I wore a bunch of baggy clothes.

Dickie pants and shorts with plain white T-shirts, and shorts with tube socks all the way up.

What a dumb kid I was :oldlol:

polos are definitly gay as hell but you still look more presentable for the girls than in some sweats and a tee that says "football is everything". i never really wore polos though, those are a commitment to the preppy look

Polo shirts never really went out of style. I don't consider them a trend of any one type such as preppy or gangster. Majority of guys everywhere own at least one collar, 2-button shirt. Their good if your going out to the bar or with a girl and want to look nice. It's just a normal shirt shirt to wear other than a normal t-shirt, not really a fashion trend that came and went in my opinion. Just as long as guys arn't wearing them tight as hell or popping the collar, then their fine.

I never said Polos, I said popped collars. If you can't pull off a no popped collar shirt than you shouldn't be wearing it.

Actually I read this and said that in response. If he doesn't wear collar shirts then I wonder what type of shirts he does wear other than t-shirt because its' not a commitment to preppy look or any particular look, its just a shirt....

For some reason Tommy Hilfiger was the most popular clothing brand around here in the late 90's-early 00's.

I have a really nice Hilfiger coat. Not really seeing it, they aren't a gimmick brand or something, they have fairly regular sets of clothes.

And my god. That hankerchief around the neck look is awful. Equally awful for men and women.

I agree. I mean I own 5 or 6 polos and a ac ouple of nice button ups. I don't wear them, though, unless I'm taking a girl out, or somewhere else where I feel a normal t-shirt might be a little under dressed. I tend to attract and be more attracted to the athletic type of girls, so forutnately after a couple of dates with one, I can pull of the athletic look on a much more regular basis because that's how they are most comfortable.

I didn't mean for it to come off that way. Tommy Hilfiger isn't a gimmicky brand at all. They have nice stuff. But for awhile, while I was in junior high, kids wore Tommy Hilfiger more than anything. Their "polos" would always have the Hilfiger logo on the front, and even Hilfiger jeans became popular. Then a few years later it was all about American Eagle and Abercrombie. Now it seems Polo Ralph Lauren has become the brand of choice; mostly among high school and college kids.

They were pretty expensive, and when looking back, they aren't very stylish. Yet, I begged and begged my parents for a pair, and finally got some for Christmas one year. I was usually the last person in my "group" of friends that gave in to whatever the latest trends were at the time, because I thought if I didn't they wouldn't be my friends. I learned by 9th or 10th grade, though, I could pretty much wear whatever and they would still be my friends. Just goes to show you how influential we are when we're 13 and 14 years old.

That's already made a semi-comeback. The old school neon colored Raybands and those brightly colored early-90's/late-80's hats are some things I occasionally saw around here last summer.

I HATE the thick Urkle glasses that these sheep wear, most are not even perscription!!!. when I was about 9 years old I had to wear glasses just like that and got so much shit for it, now it's "IN" and "cool" it's funny how people will do anything to try to fit in.

In my experience, the absolute worst shoes you can use to skate in are skateboard shoes. I honestly just got fed up with buying new shoes every 2 months and just used a pair of Nikes back when I was skating with pretty much the same results.

Yah most skate brands are so cheapily made and wear away in a matter of weeks. Although I guess they are grinding on basically sand paper forever.

I always wore high top nikes for skating.
