to me it has to be the point guard because out of georgetown he was drafted as a pg and played that position for most of his career but he can be a sg too that where he took his team to the finals but lost to the laker and he also won mvp that year

what do u guys think

Position designations are becoming pretty blurred, there aren't many teams that have position specific roles anymore. He is/was a (very) ball dominant guard, that's it.

People like to call him a scoring PG. The difference between that and a 2 is pretty vague.

Shooting guard IMO. He was at his best under Larry Brown when he'd play shooting guard alongside Eric Snow. He'd actually play off the ball a lot then.

He played SG most of his career. He is not a PG.

On offense he always played SG. Several times coaches tried to put him at PG, and he is actually a very good passer, but he doesn't contributes as much to a team as a distributor. He is at his best when looking for his own shot.

Of course, due to height he always defended the opposing team's PGs, and that's the closest to a PG Iverson was.

He is a guard
on defense he gets the point guard
And on offense he is more of a shooting guard

It's not like he couldn't pass. Didn't he average 8APG once or twice?

He is as much of a cancer as any star/scorer

Dynamic offensive guards who are VERY SHORT are ultimately a liability.

Their amazing scoring ability will win several games in the regular season.

But their small size impairs them on defense... and the huge contract they demand will ultimately lead to a poor defensive frontcourt... which is the key to any team failing.

------
Positions are defensive- what spot do you gaurd- and no he didn't defend pg's- iverson "defended" the other teams least able offensive option- the reason they usually played a pg w iverson is because he couldnt/wouldnt defend the pg unless that was their 3rd option out of the perimiter players
-----
As far as I know iverson was a sg, atleast during his days in denver- if he put as much effort into defense as offense he would have been used as a pg a lot more

hes a 2 guard, he played 2 guard from like his 3rd year right through his years at philly. he guarded the other teams pg and was quite ball dominant(obviously) but on offense he was a 2 primarily and was most effective there.
