In my opinion, Anderson Verajao.

Good pick.

Joakim Noah does a lot of stuff as well.

Ron Artest also deserves notice.

There are a lot of guys who hustle.... you just notice Varejao and Noah because of their hair.

It's true.

If by mentioning Varejao you are referencing the fact that he tried to convince teams he was worth 6 years $60+ million, then yes, he is the NBA's ultimate hustler.

Except, he didn't succeed, so nevermind.

Good question. Actually it is a question with a lot of answers, and IMO there are no wrong answers (unless someone says Eddy Curry). AV, Noah, Birdman is another. All three of those guys are fairly equal, they each have similar jobs as well.

Noah

...
Varejao, Birdman, Hinrich, numerous guys who I don't know the name of because I don't watch every single game

by the way, Artest is slowly becoming overrated. He's a good defender, but he lacks the length or hops to contest as many shots as you might like him to. He's a pretty poor rebounder, too, which is odd considering how strong he is.

Second call for Udonis Haslem here.

The guy is the perfect example of a successful hustle player, has little athleticism, little raw talent, but has started for a championship team and continues to post 30 minutes a night purely because he works his ass off for every minute of every game.

If only the guy had the natural ability or athleticism of someone like Amar'e. He'd be a 40/20 machine.

LeBron James if he was truly committed to defense night in and night out, he'd be the best hands down.. but as a superstar and a guy with so much offensive responsibilities, he just can't expend that much energy on that end than some other guys.

So here are the list of the best hustlers on the defensive end of the floor..

Anderson Vareajo
Nicolas Batum (just love this guys game)
Thabo Sefolosha/ Aaron Afflalo (both grab like theres no tomorrow, and the refs let them get away with that against Kobe for example, but they are definitely hustlers on that end)
Gerald Wallace (a bit overrated, but he certainly hustles)
Joakim Noah

btw, LOL @ Vareajo not being in the class of Joakim Noah in terms of defensive hustle.

If he wanted to, he could do it every single night, but it aint about that.

It's funny how when you think of hustlers you think of underdogs, while that's not necessarily true

I think LBJ could make a great case as well as Rondo and Ginobli

What's not true?

It's natural to think of "underdogs" when talking about players who hustle, because a lot of those players wouldn't get nearly as many minutes that they are if they weren't doing the hustle/defense stuff.

They hustle, therefore they are on the court.

dutchguy

What's not true?

not necessarily true you don't have to be an underdog to hustle

They hustle, therefore they are on the court.

Yes, but a lot of star players also hustle. Actually I think you can't really become big if you don't hustle. You can become a superstar like McGrady, but all players who actually won something had hustle.

Can you name a player who did something and didn't hustle?

ZenMaster

Depends on what your definition of hustle is.

But a player who did a lot without hustling much: Shaq

anderson varejao has to be my pick. not since rodman have i seen a big man this good at being an absolute pest defensively, and oh yeah he is all over as a garbage man in the cleveland offense too, making the back-tap a critical part of their game.

he should be top 2 for either 6th man or defensive POY, his game has improved that much. people don't see that the real "pippen" to lbj's "jordan" is andy, because he does everything lebron doesn't: crash boards, take charges, fish for techs, and slap loose balls.
