it's not meant as an insult to LAL or that OKC has any chance because I think they don't. I'm talking about the fans that were calling into the show, it' s a joke. You would think they were in the WCF vs the 2 seed.

I agree but if Durant goes crazy and averages 35 for the series would it still be as huge of an upset or will it be the start of the Durant turning himself into a top top superstar? hope this series is a good one. Kobe Vs Durant should be a good battle in theory.

Ya it could be...it's a pretty cool series and is kind of like Jordan vs Bird's Celtics in 87. Here are the parallels actually, kinda weird

Jordan's team finishes #8 in the conference and ends up facing the #1 team in his conference, the defending champion Boston Celtics. Despite the fact the Celtics had the best record in the East, they had their share of injury concerns. Bird and McHale had both faced injury problems. As a result they had gone from a 60+ win team to a 50+ win team and had 8 fewer victories than the previous season.

The favorite in the West were the mighty LA Lakers led by Magic Johnson who had just finished up winning 60+ games and had the best record in the NBA. They were the favorites to win the championship despite the fact the defending champs were still alive and ready to defend their championship. The previous year the Lakers also won 60 games and had the best record in the West, but they were unexpectedly upset in the conference Finals by the young blooming center Hakeem Olajuwon.

Jordan, who had just won the scoring title that season in his 3rd year, was supposedly the next great player but many doubted whether or not he would ever be on the level of Bird/Magic. They considered him a great scorer, but they doubted whether he could get to the next level.

Durant's team finishes #8 in the conference and ends up facing the #1 team in his conference, the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. Despite the fact the Lakers had the best record in the West, they had their share of injury concerns. Kobe and Bynum had both faced injury problems. As a result they had gone from a 60+ win team to a 50+ win team and had 8 fewer victories than the previous season.

The favorite in the East were the mighty Cleveland Cavaliers led by LeBron James who had just finished up winning 60+ games and had the best record in the NBA. They were the favorites to win the championship despite the fact the defending champs were still alive and ready to defend their championship. The previous year the Cavs also won 60 games and had the best record in the East, but they were unexpectedly upset in the conference Finals by the young blooming center Dwight Howard.

Durant, who had just won the scoring title that season in his 3rd year, was supposedly the next great player but many doubted whether or not he would ever be on the level of Kobe/LeBron. They considered him a great scorer, but that he doubted whether he could get to the next level..

or Tuesday;s, just have to get a split in LA and at least split at home. Ideally, get the first one in both of those instances I agree, but I'd take either.

Jeff Green has to come to play. Since he is going to be mismatched himself trying to guard Bynum or Gasol, he needs to go back at them at the other end and force Phil to matchup small with us or get them in foul trouble. A lot of games, he'll be at the 4 and having a bigger, slower defender on them and just stand out at the corner 3 and let them off the hook.

Phil voted for him in the all star game, shouldn't that automatically make you a fan of pj?

After the Thunder embarrassed the Lakers back in March, Phil said Durant was "ok". Also he told the guy from rolling stone that said Durant could be compared to Kobe that he was "in over his head". He doesn't believe Durant is a superstar and that he doesn't deserve to be 1st team all NBA, which he's going to be.

Phil really doesn't like Durant for some reason.

Also the Thunder have 0 chance at winning game 1. They're going to be caught up in the spot light and I think Durant will press a bit with his first playoff game against the defending champs. The game they have a chance to steal is game 2.

The Lakers will either come out on fire or they'll play like complete shit in the first quarter. They have the advantage inside, but I'm sure that Kobe will want to shake off the rust so if he's not hitting the Lakers might find themselves in a hole. Should be a fun game.

Just mind games, don't take anything Phil says too seriously. There is no reason to dislike Durant except for the fact that he's our opponent, so if there's something going around like a fact that this 21 y/o kid shot 300 more free throws than Lebron, the zen master's gonna use that to get in his head.

I don't think the Thunder will win the series, but I think they will win more games than people think. Not because their team is talented, but because KD really is starting to become West LeBron.

I'll be pulling for the Thunder in this series, too.

I think the Thunder can realistically steal one in LA and win one home game. That's it. This game might be the one they can steal.

Bynum and Pau should go for over 40 combined points and maybe 25+ rebounds because of the advantage in the paint/post areas. Westbrook is gonna have a good game if he goes out there and tries to set a quick pace.

Which is pathetic, really. Bynum is absolute garbage. People talked about Dwights limited game, what about Bynum? Bynum is on the level of Perkins offensively. Just because Bynum has more 'moves' doesn't mean those moves are useful. He looks stiff like Dikembe doing slow motion fakes.

The only good thing about Bynum is he's big, and he's relatively sound fundamentally (good at keeping the ball high and such.) Too bad for OKC that their big men are garbage...

Looks like most of Durant's offensive game actually is purposefully exploiting the rules to try to get freethrows on his weak jumpers-glad the refs wont allow that bullshit to fly in the playoffs.

Yeah, because that's the only reason he averaged 30 ppg. Without his antics he would've probably only averaged 12-15 a game.

You constantly posting in Laker threads even though you hate them = insecurity + obsession showing.

Funny a few weeks ago people were commenting like Lakers were better without Bynum, and now he is the third best offensive center in the league...

How's Greg Oden and Brandon Roy doing bitch?

Below the belt... i believe a healthy blazers team can trouble the lakers. Just had some bad luck this season

Good shot clock recognition by Gasol. iffy call by the refs though, they'll probably be consistant with the whistle at least. Collison seems like the leader on the floor for OKC, he's hustling and putting his body on the line every play

What are you talking about? The games have been well officiated all this season. Compared to previous seasons not bad at all.
