It'll be interesting to see how Kobe comes out tonight. I wouldn't be surprised to see him come out of the gate playing Kobe ball and trying to snap out of his April funk. Could really give the team a boost or it could cause the Lakers to struggle.

What if Kobe's ailments are severe enough that we won't see the dominant scorer we've come accustomed to watching? Is he willing to defer and become a playmaker and possibly let players like Gasol, Bynum, and Odom rack up the spotlight?

BTW I expect Bynum to either play out his mind tonight or play like total shit. First game back you're mostly running on adrenaline. Wouldn't be surprised if he got in foul trouble or fatigue reared its ugly head.

We're good tonight. I predict a fairly easy win. Durant wont do sh*t tonight. But when we get to OKC, I think we'll get ran in Game 3. Durant will go nuts. Then, back to bizz as usu-wale! Lakers in 5.

LA_Showtime
04-20-2010, 07:28 PM
Yeah, I expect Durant will struggle again. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see Westbrook hit for 30. Scotty Brooks should be telling him to drive the lane EVERY SINGLE TIME down the floor.

I thought the Thunder played horrible the first game.

I know the lakers didn't play their best either.

The question is, which one played worse compared to their normal level of play?

I am hoping that the Thunder has more room to improve and they can make this a good series.

If they lose tonight, its going to be a 5 game series. Win tonight and it will be a 6 or game series.

I was hoping we could make it at least to the 6th game.

Our time will be the next couple of years. This year is all about experience and improvement.

Fisher flopping all over the court. Eric Maynor time I guess. In regular season games, Scott would let Russ or anyone else play with 2 early fouls but no way we can afford it here. Maybe we even go to Kevin Ollie, a more proven playoff commodity. :ohwell:

He's not doing to bad out there. 4-9 from the field.

Ehhh, more shot attempts than points isn't too good, plus he's coming off a 6/19 game and 3 horrible games in April and he had a terrible January as well as a mediocre February. 9 shots is too much for a first quarter as well, IMO. When Kobe was at his best, like the 2008 season and last year, he'd start off games getting his teammates involved and he'd take over later. He got the most out of his teammates that way.

It's a shame that he's had so many injuries this year, though. He was playing incredible basketball the first 2+ months of the season.

Exactly what I feared would happen. Bynum played game one on adrenaline. He's not playing poorly, but he looked gassed in the second quarter. Kobe is becoming frustrated; I don't really blame him, he can't do the things he's accustomed to doing on a regular basis. Unless the other guys step up, the Lakers aren't repeating. Don't worry. The refs will come through for us tonight when we need them. They always do :) That's how we won all our championships!

I have no doubt they will. Not all of them. Lakers were a good team in the past. No where near good enough now. But tonight was a shame. Like your title when the Kings beat you but you got the title that year because of "it is fixed" calls. Westbrook's on the sideline because Fisher flopps and trips. That's it. Kristic got a nice call for not touching anyone. It's been pretty one sided. Thunder are up 10+ with fair reffing.

If the Lakers want to win the series, they have to go into Gasol and Bynum every single time down the floor. Punish the Thunder inside. Collectively, the Lakers have a very high basketball IQ, swing the ball and beat the post players who are fronting.

If Kobe continues to shoot this poorly, the Lakers should think about putting him at SF and having him defend Durant. He can play D when he wants to, and having Brown and Farmar at the guard positions would give the team more speed and athleticism.

You feel bad for the guy because he's obviously frustrated that his body isn't responding, yet you know it's his fault because he failed to get surgery when he should have. It doesn't help that he's trying to break out of his slump. I disagree with some, he has been moving the ball tonight, but the problem is that Artest doesn't know what to do with it and Fisher can't do anything with it. Like I said before, if Kobe isn't going to shoot as much, put him on Durant, and put Brown and Farmar at the guard spots. Then you've got three guys who can break down a defense and you add athleticism. Brown doesn't know the offense, but he's at least got the basics down, which you can't say about Artest.

You must be new to the NBA.

Kobe Bryant is the most legacy-obsessed player in history. He does NOT care about winning as much as he cares about people thinking he's great.

He's trying to make shots that people will remember him by, rather than simply winning a game and sharing the credit with his teammates.

Kobe Bryant is the most overrated player in the history of the NBA.

He has to face reality. It's not like people will forget he's the best player on the team or two years removed from MVP. Hell, the dude was playing like an MVP earlier this year before the injury. Realize you're injured, move the ball, play defense, and hope your team is good enough to mask your injury. In the summer, get your surgery, and come back next year refreshed and healthy.

uh oh. everyone just saw that passing in the interior is effective. kobe is pissed. now hes gonna have even a harder time justifying the 15 more shots he's gonna take this half.

kobe's jumper is fine, its finishing in the lane with all the shot blockers that is an issue

Lol I actually prefer the aggressive Artest who occasionally jacks up bad shots.

It's honestly pathetic. You have idiots like that, and then the guys who pretend to be Laker fans (probably the same people).

Kobe Fan got Laker Fan by the balls now. If Kobe has a good second half, you know they're saying Kobe still got it and it was wrong to doubt him.

It not....

Always got that finger-thingy injury excuse. Ace in the hole right there. :oldlol:

You're the biggest fool among the other fools here if you honestly do not think that his heavily tapped up fingers isnt a valid reason for his play. Kobe Bryant IS injured. Regardless if he plays well, or plays poorly. I dont care what anyone says. Its FACT.

Kobe is playing much better this quarter. He's letting his teammates get involved and he's letting the game come to him.

that would have been the dunk of the year and decade. I know he didn't really have much of a chance of completing that but it's nice to dream.
