Rick Barry. Its ugly (by the standards of typical shooting form), but it is damn effective.

^After watching that video and following his methods, I tried the shot out (in an empty gym of course). I think it improved my free throws a little bit (probably from 60% to 70%) and that was with very little practice. Though, I'd have to be around 90% for me to pull that out publicly (outside of a game of horse, of course).

Hayes has gotten a lot better. Everyone just remembers that time against Denver where he double clutched and that's their last memory.

He isn't an NBA player, but if anyone watches a lot of college ball you may have seen Will Foster of the Zags shoot free throws last year. Its brutal. The guy is a 7'4 stickman and his free throws are just terrible. It's not even the worst form, it's just so bad :oldlol:

Chuck Hayes has NEVER attempted a jumpshot. I think I've seen him take one because the shot clock was running down but that's it.

I've heard that Yuck Hayes' free throw shooting was different back in his College days than it is right now in the NBA, can anybody confirm?

I think you're right. One time Hayes' college coach was chatting with Bill and Clyde and he was saying how Hayes used to be a decent shooter in college. He also questioned why Ewing was teaching Hayes how to shoot free throws. I might be wrong though.

Not NBA but still pretty ugly

Yup, although Mason had his shoulder injury which made it impossible to shoot his FT's normally anymore. Before the injury he was a Maggette-Lite.

Chuck Hayes' free-throw to basketball is what Chales Barkley's swing is to golf.

I always thought Bill Cartwright's ugliness couldn't be matched, until I saw Chuck Hayes shoot a free throw. I don't know what is worse. Hayes looks like he's shooting and the ball gets stuck to his hand for a second.

Nice shout out earlier to Rick Barry's horrible underhanded granny style which he somehow made 90% of. I remember Shaq saying he could never bring himself to try shooting a FT like that because of how embarrassing it looks.

If you shoot FTs like Shaq and got fouled as much as he did, I think you ought to try anything.

Bumped his free throw percentage from mid-40's to upper 50's. Granted, depending upon his level of rawness coming out of high school, he may have been able to improve with his standard form, too (changed after his freshman year) but it is what it is.

Here Onuaku in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTo-K_v4BEI
