chappelle took off on top. call me crazy but i think he'll come back with some shit.:oldlol: he's very talented.

I don't remember whether Killin Them Softly came out before or after the show began, but that standup is easily one of the best standup routines ever, if not the best. So the show really is a separate issue. And then on top of the standup the show was hilarious.

So fame notwithstanding, comparing someone to Chappelle is an extremely high standard. For the record I don't know much about Kevin Hart, why dont you link a video to some of his good bits.

Also, I dunno if he does standup but Tracy Morgan is a LEGIT comedic actor. He's not just hype and a hot name. He is really good.

Two arrest warrants have been issued for comedian Katt Williams after he allegedly punched someone in the face at an Atlanta hotel back in November -- and the whole thing was allegedly caught on tape ... audio tape.

Arrest warrants for battery and false imprisonment were issued last month for Katt in Fulton County, GA, stemming from an alleged incident at the Four Seasons Hotel the night of November 12.

According to the police report, Merion Powers claims Katt invited him to the hotel to discuss a debt -- when Powers sensed trouble was brewing he pressed the record button on his cell phone.

According to the report, "Mr. Williams was on audio recording stating that he did physically strike Mr. Power's once in the nose" and that Powers' nose "did show signs of swelling." Katt was never arrested -- but warrants were issued on December 28.

Now ... a source connected with Katt claims it went down like this: Powers was attempting to extort the comedian over a musical recording made by Williams, and when Williams told Powers to pound sand, Powers' pal called the hotel security, security called the cops, but the cops didn't believe Powers and left without arresting Katt.

something like that..

Kevin Hart is great. To me he is like 2-3 favorite stand-up comedians and you might remember I once made a thread wondering if he could already become considered a legend.

But the Chappelle comparison is a bad one. Dave Chappelle was on another planet than pretty much all but a select few during his time because he added the satire. Hart is a terrific story teller, but he doesn't have that extra factor.

And won't ever get there, it's not his brand of comedy. But I do think he will go down as one of the best, and he needs to have that one movie or t.v. role where he's front and center and it's hilarious. He's been good in supporting roles and the things he's stared in have been shit (not his fault).

But I doubt we see another Dave Chappelle for a while.

When Chappelle's show came out, there was no way SOMEBODY wasn't gonna bring it up to you the day after a new episode aired. You couldn't escape it. People were quoting it, referencing the characters etc. Every day after it aired, people were gonna be talking about it somehow. And this started from episode 1 with the clayton bigsby skit.

I didn't even know Hart's new show started yet. I haven't heard a single person say a single word about it. The only thing I've ever heard about it was when i saw Hart doing an interview on Conan about it.

See Dave Chappelle introduced a new formula to TV, one that wasnt really expanded upon before him. After him there appeared a 101 tv shows that use the same idea. Thats why he quit he knew he couldnt keep up the same consistency in his skits. Kevin Hart would just be another generic knock off. No better than all the other shit thats out. Kevin Hart is the highest paid comedian working today.
Chappelle has never been at this level.
So not only is he the new Chappelle, he has passed him.

Money =/= skill.

That's the same as saying Mike Conley has passed Michael Jordan because he has the biggest contract in NBA history.

... or whoever is the hottest black comic at any given time. Watch his comedy and you should know what I mean. He has the whit, charm, talent, comic timing and everything.

Give this young man a show Comedy central or HBO or Showtime or somebody.
He has become the new comedy relief sidekick.

I have no doubts however that if he was 6'0 rather than 5'0 he would be a Will Smith level super star by now.

I'm not a heightist, I'm just saying that his midgetry hurts his super star ceiling.

No it's not. Not even close. I was just stating he is now the highest paid comic.

That's called being an idiot. Anyone with a brain would have taken the money then flipped the script.

He had creative control, it's not like they were writing sketches for him.

''So not only is he the new Chappelle, he has passed him.'' is referring to your earlier statement about him being the highest paid comedian.

Refer to the very first post of the thread. Over six years ago I said he can be the new Chappelle. He had now passed him so he is the new Chappelle and more.

Wow, good prediction.

Kevin Hart is, culturally, the new Chappelle and much more. Everyone loves him. He is VIP at every talk show, every movie set, NBA all star weekend...

I'd rather be at a Chappelle show at a small venue with about 100 in the audience, than anything with Kevin Hart... but Hart's a superstar, and funny in his own right.
