View Full Version : Deron Williams annoyed by Barkley's comments about Kobe

funny stuff
"They are a championship team. People made Kobe mad. People owe him an apology. I heard Chuck say he's getting old and he's not going to be able to the same things and he did them."
Barkley: "He's not going to be able to score 30-40 a night. Those days are over!"
Kenny " But he scored over 30 a game on 50% shooting!"
Barkley: "But the 30 points didn't help"
Kenny" They didn't help? (everyone laughs at Chuckster). C'mon..."

To say Kobe's points didn't help was idiotic.

The Jordan comparisons probably irritate him (as they do anyone with a reasonable knowledege of teh game). I also wouldn't be surprised if Kobe's personality rubs him the wrong way. Kobe is a polarizing guy. Just because Barkley's a former NBA great doesn't mean he doesn't feel the same way about him as many in the general public.

I know in your mindless fanboy world, anyone who doesn't care for Bryant (or think he's GOAT) is "jealous" of him. Care to explain how he's so close with Jordan then? Shouldn't he be "jealous" of Jordan? Doesn't seem to have a problem with Shaq or Magic. Shouldn't he be "jealous" of them? Or Duncan? etc.?
Maybe (horrors!) he doesn't really care for the guy, and feels he's on the overrated side! Oh no! Action punishable by death to fanboys!

Exactly. Barkley sees Kobe win 3 rings playing with a prime Shaq, while Barkley toiled away without such benefit his entire career. Put Barkley with prime Shaq? Damn. :0

Why the hell would he be irritated by that? That has absolutely nothing to do with him, it's not like Kobe asked to be compared to MJ.
As a matter of fact, I can recall a few times where he specifically asked not to be compared to him.
Kobe is polarizing, but Barkley is the only analyst that I have seen that seems to dislike him. Kobe and C-Webb almost fought each other in '02 and even he seems to like and him talks favorably of him.
Barkley seems to hate him for no reason. Also, LOL at him saying that Kobe's 30 "didn't help" (despite being over 25% of the team's points in every game) and changing from 30 to 40. I like him, but the guy is a straight up hater.

Chuck just looks foolish, how can a man days of dropping 30 be over after he drops 30 in 5 straight games? Kobe has showed a slight decline from his 2005-2006 years, but he still the best closer in basketball. Kobe's "demise" has been greatly exaggerated.

He also said his 30 didn't make a difference, which is just downright stupid.
By the end of last night, it was obvious that he was just searching for a reason to discredit Kobe.

Barkley knows the Lakers bigs will abuse the Suns in the next round so he's saying things like "Kobe can't score 40 anymore" in hopes that maybe Kobe will go out and take a bunch of shots and score 40 to prove him wrong. Kobe's not that stupid (anymore).

Yeah that's the problem inside their delusional minds. They think that we're "jealous" or "hate him cause he's too good", etc. Bullsh*t. Like you said, if that's the case, we'd all hate MJ or Magic or Bird or Kareem, or any of the all time greats. I've had people say I hate Kobe because he scored 81 points against my Raptors. Again, bullsh*t. If that's the case, I'd loathe Shaq seeing as how he dropped 45 on my team while being old and way past his prime, while rubbing it in calling Chris Bosh the RuPaul of big men. Instead, I just laughed and gave old man Shaq props on having a vintage game.
Sh*t if I was Barkley, maybe I would be jealous of Kobe, seeing as how I never got to dictate which franchise I played for on draft night, or was paired up alongside arguably the most dominant player in NBA history, as well as the GOAT coach to automatically win rings. Kobe's had it waayyyy easier than many players that have come before. I've used this comparison here before, but it's like that spoiled brat you knew back in high school. The one who's parents catered to their every need, and seemingly never got in trouble. They would get away with murder and you knew if you tried even half the crap they pulled, what would happen to you. Not to mention they would go around moaning about how misunderstood they were and pout whenever the slightest thing didn't go exactly the way they wanted it to.

Jordan was known as a complete asshole, by almost everyone that knew him.
Teammates, former business associates, fellow celebrities, several people hated his freaking guts. Loved him as a basketball player, but hated him as a human being.
Yet people still glorify him and make excuses for him because he has game. That's just how it goes.

Bro just shut up. You troll every Laker or Kobe thread crying about the same nonsense.
Every single one of your comments on this board is either a disrespectful or diminishing comment towards Kobe, or you agreeing with another hater.
Of course you don't see a problem with Chuck's comment, because you are a hater.
And Lol at how you say that "we are not jealous of Kobe" , then write a paragraph on how you dislike the fact he has liven a coddled lifestyle. If that isn't jealousy, what is it then moron?
And I expect your only defense is to call me a "Kobe homer", which is no better than a moronic Kobe homer calling anyone that doesn't worship him a "Kobe hater".
So are you going to act like the rest of the sensitive, insecure haters and label me a homer because I don't see the joy in diminishing an all time great player's career & achievements?
It's amazing how just the mere thought of Kobe winning another ring and building his legacy can drive morons off the deep end.

Barkley always had a tendency to favor underdogs because he was an underdog back in his playing days. He really loves those players and teams that work so hard all year, but just don't have enough to win a ring.
I find the funniest thing about this is that Barkley spent the whole year saying that DWill is the greatest PG in the league now, and so and so forth.

I'm still not buying that Chuck is jealous of Kobe. Seriously, what is there to be jealous of? You could say rings but then you would have to include everybody who doesn't have 4 and could potentially get more. Not a lot of players can say that. Chuck did all he could do and will go down as one of the greatest ever and be in the HOF. There is no shame in that.
Is he bitter that he didn't get a ring? Of course. You can tell because he really gets into discussions and can talk and talk and talk....you know he wants to be in the game.
He probably just doesn't like Kobe whole persona or the hype around him. I know I don't. I'm a huge MJ fan(as he is) and it does kind of irk me when people try to prematurely compare the two. That mindstate has definitely led me to discredit Kobe in one way or another. It is what it is. I still think he's a great player.

But yet he gets on his knees and praises Lebron. If you cant tell he is unbelievably Jealous of Kobe you yourself have your own agenda. He is better Kobe was blessed with such a great career. First off, you aren't talking to me. I'm not a MJ homer/fanboy/whatever. Yes, I'm a huge fan, but I'm not out here making crazy statements. I give respect where respect is due. You also have to remember that you are on a forum with a bunch of 15 year olds. No disrespect to anyone who is super young, but they tend to say crazy things and get a little too sensitive.
LeBron has nothing to do with it. LeBron is LeBron. Kobe is carbon copy of MJ. I don't know if you noticed, but people have issues with that. MJ brought everyones eyes to the game of basketball, a true global icon...in a lot of peoples minds', there can only be one. Kobe just doesn't fit the in the picture....and that's where you get the sensitivity.
So Kobe style of play is like Michael. Half of the Bulls and Michael fans hate that but Michael himself loves Kobe and his game. I wonder how they feel about MJ not hating Kobe for that.

It's rare to see a MJ fan who defends Kobe. It's probably because you know there is no reason for you to feel insecure about Kobe.
Exactly! There is no reason for me to feel insecure about Kobe because Michael Jordan's achievements & career speaks for itself. Unless a Kobe homer tries to disrespect Mj's achievements, I have no problem with Kobe at all.
In fact, he is my favorite player in the game today, along with Wade. He is also one of my favorite players of all time including Mj, Magic, Shaq, Hakeem, & Penny.
I just don't see the need to bash the guy or diminish every single one of his accomplishments. Sure Kobe has had some downs in his career (like alot of legends), but focusing on them and trying to diminish his highs is ridiculous.
Btw, I have been a longtime Lakers fan since about 1987 as a kid, but just like most kids that grew up in the 80's, I grew up idolizing Michael Jordan. But I guess I just am not as biased as some Michael Jordan fans may seem.
