The name has a negative connotation in the area, it's the name of the less popular team. It's fanbase has been historically apathetic (they draw so-so even when they are good in an area with a ton of people). The merchanides doesn't really sell. I'd change the name. :confusedshrug: Maximizing the investment is the point, and NETS doesn't do so.

It seems like the Bullets changed their name not too long ago as well. This stuff happens all the time in all four professional sports leagues in america and could be a nice change to a organization that has a bad history of draft picks, management and personnel/player decisions.

For instance, firestone changed its name to bridgestone after the ford recalls of the early 2000s (or was it late 1990s) and people practically forgot that the firestone/ford recalls even took place.

Nets name has a negative connotation. You can't think this person brought th eteam, is going to move it to NY, wants to market it nationally, and keep the same name. That's not fair. If the net fans wanted that, they should have prayed Ratner stayed and status quo. They've had a lax fanbase who didn't go to games, buy merchandise for like 20 years. i hardly see how its a necessity to honor that and keep the name. :confusedshrug:
