First of all, thank you ISH for putting up with 25,000 posts worth of StroShow4. I appreciate it.

Now, for my 25,000th post, I will list 25 of my favorite NBA players to watch (in no order). My favorite players to watch change every season, but some guys are always on the list. Those players will all make appearances, and then there will be some guys who I have recently started to enjoy watching.

I will post one player each day for the next 25 days. For each player I will provide a blurb about why I think they are fun to watch, and a cool photo or two. I will also post my favorite of said player's games, plays, dunks, moments, etc.

I will begin today with a player who I have enjoyed watching for many seasons, Jamal Crawford.

http://alt.coxnewsweb.com/cnishared/tools/shared/mediahub/07/00/34/slideshow_1340076_hawks-crawford.jpg

Why: If I could play like any player in the NBA, I think I'd choose Jamal Crawford. The way he uses his street-like handles in the structure of the NBA amazes me. The moves and shots which he makes look easy are so difficult and require such confidence, it just blows my mind. He's the most impressive dribbler I've ever seen, and he's got a variety of moves that you never see from any other player. He's one of just a handful of players to score 50 points for three different teams (Bulls, Knicks, Warriors). He's money in crunch time. He's a cool, collected player. He's also got those sneaky ups, he'll bust out a sick dunk right out of the blue from time to time... that's always fun. The only complaint I have with Jamal Crawford is that sometimes in the past he seemed to lack agressiveness at times, but that's minor, and I didn't notice that so much this season. I'm always confident that most of the time I can count on Jamal Crawford to entertain me.

http://www.nba.com/media/poy06_crawford_600px.jpg

First time I saw him play: Not exactly sure of the specifics, but he was on the Bulls. It was a national TV game, and he was lighting somebody up. I watched it with my dad.

Favorite highlight(s): Dropping Ray Allen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whKAx7hZ1Fw). Shaking D-Will (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n69AmJCY7q8). Off glass to himself (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t3wkXcMgpgM).

Best/Favorite moment(s): This game winning bucket vs. the Nuggets (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UO1nUfObERw) was incredible. Jamal's entire 4th quarter in the game was incredible. I highlighted it in the beginning of one of my youtube mixes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A78inBNiBFI). One of the most exciting NBA games that I have witnessed

Best/Favorite game(s): Gotta be the 52-pointer vs. the Heat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZcqSoFsW3A) where he made however many shots it was in a row (it was double-digits, like 16 or something). Saw that one live, will never forget it.

Congratulations Stro.

I didn't really care for Crawford when he played for the Knicks but he always seemed like a nice guy and I was genuinely happy for him when he finally made the playoffs this year. The only thing that bothered me about him was when he was wearing that damn birth control patch on his shoulder. What the **** was that?

Player #24 will be Carmelo Anthony.

http://nessa15.files.wordpress.com/2009/02/carmelo-anthony.jpg

Why: A smooth, well rounded scoring machine. Carmelo can take you off the dribble, post you up, or shoot a jumper in your face. He's also been known to throw down in the grill of a fool from time to time. He's quick, and he's also strong in the paint. He has one of the best midrange games in the league, and he can hit the three now. I really enjoy paying close attention to his footwork, it's top-notch. His jab step is lethal. I also enjoy watching Melo play in the paint, he's so tough when he takes the ball to the rack... get out of his way, or he'll run your @ss over, basically. I have heard some commentators refer to his style as "bully ball", I think that's pretty accurate. Last but not least, let's not forget that he's clutch as a mofo.

First time I saw him play: I don't remember exactly, but I became a big fan of his when I started watching Denver a lot during the 05/06 season. I remember watching him hit a game winner against the Rockets that season, that's probably the first specific memory of Melo that I can come up with, although I know I had seen him play many times before that.

http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh50/baller719/AnthonyCarmelo400.jpg

Favorite highlight(s): Crazy dunk on Paul Millsap. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlrbJ6oG7OM) Crazy dunk from international game. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CmMDe_HagnM) Dunking on three Celtics. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xVsUZU9Sns4) Ooping on Yao. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFmm9lz-c2Q)

Best/Favorite moment(s): Game winner over LeBron. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YygM6ENCqu8) Game winner vs. Thunder. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Id6lkaXMtA) Game winner '09 playoffs game 3 vs Dallas. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjF23fJypKY)

Best/Favorite game(s): I watched him score 50 on the Knicks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBaJwMsYG-k), that's the first one that came to mind. There was also his 33 point quarter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPKNwOKINq8) vs. Minnesota, I have to mention that one. His 40 point game vs. Cleveland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JD6eqP_y9kw) this year where he hit the game winner was great.

Player #23 will be LeBron James.

http://www.bballcity.com/images/2005/lebron-james-3-med.jpg

Why:

Well LeBron wears #23 (at least he does for now), so I figured why not stick him here? I have enjoyed watching LeBron play since he entered the league... I mean, who doesn't enjoy watching LeBron play? Best in the league, one of the greatest athletes ever... hard not to enjoy watching him do his thing. I became a bigger fan of LeBron over the course of this past season, though. After the Nuggets got eliminated I was actually rooting pretty hard for the Cavs to win the championship (we all know how that story ended, so I'll stay away from that).

I'm not really sure what to say about LeBron. He gets so much hype and air time that it's not like I have anything to say that hasn't already been said 5,000 times already. All I know is I enjoy watching the man play the game of basketball. Some of the most incredible displays of individual dominance that I've ever witnessed on the basketball court have been put on by LeBron james (see the best moments/games sections). There's his spectacular dunks, his amazing passing ability, his ball handling (I will always remember that one move where he yanked the ball back through his legs, dropped the guy, and drained a three), and now he's got a pretty good jumper and three point range. Oh yeah, he's got that chase-down block thing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qu9d6bZtpE) figured out pretty well too. I get a little frustrated when he enters his passive mode, but this is an appreciation post, not a critique.

Some people get annoyed with LeBron's antics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kroxmCZUgQ4), but for whatever reason that's never really bothered me. I don't give a sh!t if he dances on the sideline, I thought that was kinda funny. Same with the pregame routines. As long as he's about business on the court, I don't care about the other stuff.

http://leblogjames.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/lebron-james-dunk1.jpg

First time I saw him play: I don't have a clue... the first specific memory I can come up with is his dunk over Damon Jones (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_jUUMCvLPFU). "Don't you just let McInnis have the layup?" -one of my favorite quotes EVER from a commentator. :oldlol:

Favorite highlight(s): If I were to sit here and list all of my favorite LeBron highlight plays... I'd never finish this post. Here's a dunk compilation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2UF2juga60), and here's my LeBron mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24EmGQj-ZZs). I also feel the need to specifically mention his vicious dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZlYo-6VEXc) over James Johnson. And how about that massive leap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNOOoZZB9BY) he made against the Blazers? I know he didn't even dunk it, but sh!t, that was amazing.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Game winner vs. Orlando playoffs game three. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahENQV1MwQI) Game Winner vs. Golden State. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OEl8uZ3N50) Dunking on KG in the playoffs. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFLOGzsgZbc)

Best/Favorite game(s): My favorite LeBron game ever has to be [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyd4NPvzKQg]the one vs. Milwaukee where he dropped 16 points in two minutes (][/url). I was sitting on my couch going f@cking bonkers as that sh!t unfolded... I couldn't believe my eyes. I still watch that youtube video of it on occasion, amazes me every time. Game 4 vs. Chicago in the first round this season (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRKrXNytqMA) was pretty sick. The pull-up J from halfcourt was ridiculous. Last but not least, there's his famous playoff game vs. Detroit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmjFSVhf4g0) where he went on a tear to finish the game, leading Cleveland to victory. Hey look, Big Z actually had hair. :oldlol:

Player #22 will be Amare Stoudemire.

http://outtatownclowns.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/amareblog.jpg

Why: Watching people get dunked on is fun (especially to me). Amare dunks on people a lot. Perfect match. Amare had more winning posters in my daily poster thread than any other player by a landslide this season. He could've very well done the same thing last season if he wasn't hurt at the end. Gotta love the emotion in Amare's dunks too. Nothing quiet about an Amare throw-down. He pounds it down hard and then lets everyone know about it.

This is obvious, but I should mention that Amare has become more than just a dunker, and I appreciate that. He could've made some spectacular plays here and there, gotten paid on potential, and never developed much of a game. His jumper is very nice now, and he can put the ball on the floor and drive to the basket. I've seen him have games where he's been a beast in the post. People who say he's nothing but a product of the PHX system are wrong. PHX plays uptempo and Nash runs the point, so yeah, that makes things a bit easier, but it's not like that's the only reason Amare's getting numbers. The guy is very athletic and very talented. Standing Tall And Talented (that is what STAT stands for, right?) is a solid description. That A should stand for "Athletic", though. Drop the and.

Last but not least, I like the way he fought through his terrible injuries. If I remember correctly, back when he was out of action, it was unsure whether or not he'd ever be the same. Not only did he return successfully, he's a better player than he was before. He played in all 82 games of the 06/07 season after playing just three in 05/06. Following that bad eye injury in 08/09, he played in all 82 games of the 09/10 regular season as well.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e281/Nawaj/amare_stoudemire.jpg

First time I saw him play: I'm sure it was in the playoffs some time between 02 and 04. I very clearly remember him playing in the 05 playoffs, the Suns played the Grizzlies in the first round that season. The Grizzlies still had Stromile Swift at that point, so obviously I watched all of those games. Unfortunately, one of Amare's best highlights (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUjo_DNqe8A) came at Stro's expense in that series, and the Grizz got swept. In the third round, Amare had his big individual performance against the Spurs where he put up 30+ in every game and 40 twice. That was pre-injury, so his ups were even crazier back then. #32 Amare was a sick f@cking dunker... not that he isn't a sick dunker anymore, he's still one of the best in the game.

Favorite highlight(s): Most of my favorites are in my Amare Stoudemire mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hDfg0ZCpEfM). Dunking on Tolliver, Foster (so much ownage on that play) Kandiman, 97% of the bigs who have played minutes in the NBA between 2002 and 2010... Not included in there are his dunks on Adonal Foyle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvJQK1HM6bw). I could only find a video of one of them, but yeah, freaking savage is what those dunks were.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Huge block on Timmy D in the '05 playoffs. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5bH9kTyg_M) I thought his dunk contest performance with Nash in '05 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMzxdNvOYTM) was really cool, I still remember it.

Best/Favorite game(s): Well, all 7 games from round three of the '05 playoffs vs. San Antonio (I think some of those games are on youtube if anyone cares to watch them). I remember watching him put up 49/11/6/5stl/2blk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRTUzfJ_z30) on Indiana last season (decent fantasy line, eh?). I also remember watching him drop 42 on the Clipps in 36 minutes. That was the game from last year where he hurt his eye and had to sit the rest of the year. He dropped 50/11 on Portland in 2005, and he had a 33/21 game in 2007.

Who is everyone's favorite pass first point ever and why?

Would Andre Miller be considered "pass first"? He's a very good passer and he has averaged high assist numbers in the past, but if scoring is what the team needs him to do he will do that too. If you want to call him "pass first", he's my favorite.

I am limited by age in the number of players I've watched but I'm going Jason Kidd. Absolute magic on the break and he has great command of his team and the floor. I remember totally falling in love with his game on those overachieving nets teams.

From purely an offensive POV I gotta say Mark Jackson. Sure, plenty of homer there, but that's why he's my favorite. The way he'd work the ball seemingly prematurely to the opposite side of the floor to set up those devastating screens for Reggie from the Davis boys was a joy. The 12 second postups, the teardrop, the Jackson Jiggle. When you're working with a team w/o a truly dominant iso capable player he was perfect.

Oh man, I forgot all about the no look little off the hip passes. It was the little things with Jax, a lot of guys can make those fancy And 1 type passes, but look where the ball ends up almost every time, look at that pass at 2:58, he did that routinely. Perfect spot, right in the shooting pocket. Shit's like a Drew Brees pass.

Player #21 will be Kenyon Martin.

http://www.b105.com/blog/media/Kenyon-Martin.jpg

Why: Kenyon Martin has been a top 5 favorite player of mine since.... forever. Kenyon Martin is an incredible athlete and has been a top dunker in the league for years, but let's skip that for a second. The thing I really love about KMart is the passion and intensity that he brings to the court. Kenyon plays to win the game, and he brings it every single night. He's kind of an "enforcer" type... he doesn't take any sh!t from anyone. Honestly, I think he's crazy, but that's cool, it makes him more entertaining.

I love the fact that Kenyon can and will D up on pretty much any player in the NBA, no matter what position they play... he likes to take that tough assignment on defense. Kenyon has some of the quickest hands that I've ever seen from a big man. He's awesome at stripping the ball from the offensive player right when he starts to bring the ball up to take a shot. He's also athletic enough to block shots up high, making him a unique type of defender who can record lots of steals and blocks (good for your fantasy squad :lol ).

Offensively, his game is a little rough. His jumper is OK if he's wide open and has time to line it up, but you don't want him shooting off the dribble. He shoots a line drive, the thing is like a laser-beam. His post game isn't great, and sometimes his shots look a little wild. He does have this weird looking spinning hook shot that seems to go in a lot. What he does well, though, is move without the ball. Kenyon is always receiving lobs and finishing strong around the rim. He also does a great job of following up missed shots. Kenyon will follow a guard into the paint, so if a layup is missed he is right there to slam it down. Again, it's an effort thing. I love that he goes hard for the boards.

Back to his athleticism: Wowzers. His combination of strength, quickness, speed, and leaping ability is pretty damn sick. He will run the floor fast, explode up off the court quickly, and then dunk the ball down with power and also a degree of furocity that I'm not sure is matched by any player ever. Almost every time Kenyon dunks it's like he wants to tear the basket down. He's also got those sick rim hangs and the backboard slaps that add flavor to his throw downs. He never seems to get technicals for any of that stuff, I'm not sure why he gets away with it, but I'm glad he does.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_42w5-R0zz2g/ShQgHtzJzII/AAAAAAAAHH0/osxiF0Z8c-A/s400/Kenyon+Martin+Dunks+On+Dj+Mbenga.jpg

First time I saw him play: Hmm... the first time I remember was in the playoffs vs. Detroit in 2004. I specifically remember watching game five, the one where Chauncey hit the shot from half court to tie the game.

Favorite highlight(s): Let me begin by posting my favorite Kenyon Martin mix (by Laker#8) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c-q3bt-LzE). Here's some more highlights: Dunking on JO (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91UlmkqLPO4), dunking on the Clippers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycoq6CxRdLo), sick putback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L07gTJOm6kA), two handed block (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNRIf0mPOjw)... and last but not least, the sickest damn putback ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJYTvom6nw4 (:47). Watch that entire video, it's epic.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Here's the KMart mix that I made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aPhkW5QI3E) a while back... in there you will see him hit two clutch threes, one vs. the Clippers and one vs. the Suns. Those are two of my favorite KMart moments. His two nasty dunks on Rob Kurz are in there too, I love both of those slams. Also, how about his game winning dunk on Dalembert (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hn0roiV_gRc).

Best/Favorite game(s): There was a random game on March 2006 where he dropped 28/12 on Detroit. He hit two threes down the stretch, which was interesting. He seems to hit clutch threes even though he isn't a very good shooter from that distance. That's probably my favorite KMart game.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40143000/jpg/_40143191_basketball_300.jpg

I have a feeling a lot of posters won't agree with me on KMart. It seems like you either love him or hate him, he's kind of a polarizing guy. Lots of people think he's a moron, some think he's a dirty player, and I think others just don't like his demonstrative behavior.

Player #20 will be Andre Miller.

http://www.depressedfan.com/assets_c/2009/05/AndreMiller050109-thumb-350x265-9809.jpg

Why: Is there a player in the NBA that gets more out of less than Andre Miller? 'Dre is far from being a gifted athlete, yet he has been a very good PG in the league for a decade. He's probably most known for leading the league in assists once upon a time, but overall I'd say he's a very underrated player. Andre Miller simply makes the right play. He'll do a nice job running his team, make plays, and even go get a basket if that's what his team needs. I'm not sure how he manages to get to the bucket so well, he doesn't appear to be all that quick. He is strong, one of the best PGs in the post, and he throws the best lobs in the league. Very good rebounder for a guard as well. He'll go into a pack and pull out an offensive board or two almost every time I watch him play.

Last but not least, I respect Andre's toughness. He's an iron man. This guy has missed FIVE games in his career (which began in 1999). That's amazing.

http://www.nba.com/media/act_andre_miller.jpg

First time I saw him play: Not sure, but I started to enjoy watching Andre Miller play in 05/06 when I began watching the Nuggets a lot. It was fun to watch him push the ball and throw flawless lobs to KMart and Carmelo. I was one of the few people who questioned Denver's side of the 'Dre for Iverson deal... I like Iverson, and at the time he was much more highly regarded than he is now... so that should give you an idea of how much respect I have for Andre's ability and value to his team.

Favorite highlight(s): It's gotta be that shocking leaner dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok2fgs9dFzo) he threw down this season. Where the hell did that come from? Dre has also denied a few dunks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NCm3cETMol0) over the course of his career. Lastly, here's one of his best moves (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZAwSXaGwXY).

Best/Favorite moment(s): Dropping 31 to help an injury-stricken Portland team win game one vs. PHX in the playoffs this season was a good one. He had a 30 point game last season in the playoffs as well, and helped the severely over-matched Sixers stick around for six games vs. Orlando.

Best/Favorite game(s): His 52 point game vs. Dallas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5Ko9vg2P3Q) takes the cake. He made some absurd shots down the stretch. I also remember watching him have a great regular season performance in the '08/09 season... I don't remember how many points he had or who the Sixers were playing... all I remember is that he scored like 10 or 15 points in a row down the stretch and was just clutch as hell.

Hey Gobb, you're a Sixers fan and I know you follow the team closely... how did you feel about 'Dre when he was a member of the Sixers?

Wasnt that huge of a fan myself. He sold fans fools gold. Had them believe they were better than they actually were. Sixers went to the playoffs with him but so many factors helped make that possible outside of the Sixers (like other teams being hit hard with injuries, flat out stinking). He offered some stability and a veteran prescence on a team full of youngsters. So that was valuable. But dispite the good things he did here I always felt he could only take them but so far. He could take this team and make them respectable but beyond that? I doubt the Sixers would be that successful with them. Just good enough to get a late lottery pick.

He's the close but no cigar PG. The certification of appreciation PG after others got 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. The C student. You didnt fail but you werent one of the top students in the class either. He did a solid job as a Sixer but again I felt this team needed to find better. Much like the reason Denver Nuggets traded him. He was good but simply wasnt the guy that would help take a team to the next level or get over a hump. And I wasnt against the Sixers not bringing him back at that cost. Veteran stopgap PG imo and I wouldnt overpay just to be above mediocre with him as a Sixer.

He could take this team and make them respectable but beyond that?

You're right, he's not a superstar player who can be the main man on a team which is capable of advancing in the playoffs... but his ability to at least make a bad team respectable has to be worth something, right? :lol

I liked Andre on the Nuggets, he wasn't really the problem. Melo wasn't as good or as focused on winning back then, and Denver didn't play defense like they do now. Trading him for Iverson didn't really help. That being said, Chauncey Billups was certainly an upgrade and helped the Nuggets take more steps in the right direction that probably never would've been taken with Andre Miller there.

Its worth something but I dont know how much it was worth for the Sixers. I can see arguments for both sides tho. Like Andre Miller wasnt worth it because Sixers won just enough games where they didnt get a high lottery pick to help the franchise. Yet a guy like Miller helped make them respectable and open eyes up to potential free agents in thinking "That team isnt bad". See Elton Brand. Who said he took notice of them.

So I dont know. As a Sixer fan I got tired of being just good enough. Playing hop skotch with late lottery/late playoff seed early exit. Either you suck ass (like this did this season) and score a top pick or you are a legit playoff contender who is around the corner from challenging the Eastern big dawgs (Orl, Clev, Bos). Sixers were neither and I didnt want them to be stuck at this level every year.

He was good to have but if he was here another 2-3yrs? Nothing would have changed imo. Atleast now Sixers have a chance to add a quality star, maybe maybe franchise player since Iggy isnt that. Thats why I envy those successful teams year in and year out.

Yeah the AI trade didnt help Denver how they wanted. I kinda meant I always felt Chauncey Billups was the upgrade they were lookin for at PG. Luckily since AI didnt work out they were able to land him. But I thought Denver was lookin for that upgrade who could do things Andre Miller couldnt/struggled with. Defense, stretching a defense.

Agreed with the bold.

Everyone knew Chauncey was a special player many seasons before he left Detroit. What I think many fans didn't exactly know is just how special a player he is until he was put alongside a legit superstar (someone like Melo).

There for awhile it seemed the debate in Detroit was who's team is it? Rip's or Chauncey's? I think now the answer is clear.

Player #19 will be Moped..er..Monta Ellis.

http://www.emptythebench.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/02/montaellisgs1.jpg

Why: Ah, The Mississippi Bullet... where to begin... well I think this is one thing that most of us will be able to agree on: Monta's entertaining. He is quicker than lightning and has amazing ups. His ability to finish in the paint is fascinating. Listed at 6-3 180, it's pretty crazy that he is a 47.6% career shooter from the floor (he once had a season where he went 53%). His jumper has come a long way... he still doesn't really have great three point range, but his midrange game is excellent.

Monta Ellis had been coming along steadilly and improved in each of his first three seasons in the league, but then he hit a bit of a snag. Monta was only able to play 25 games in the 08/09 season due to a bad injury suffered during a moped crash. Stupid mistake, I was mad at the time, but I have forgiven him. Monta came back strong in the 09/10, playing 64 games and averaging 25.5 PPG. The Warriors weren't very good, but with Ellis and Curry they were pretty damn fun to watch.

One last thing I like about Ellis is his demeanor. He usually stays pretty calm, and he rarely complains to the officials, which is refreshing. If Monta yells at a ref, you know there was actually a legit terrible call. He's not a whiner.

I also have to mention that Ellis was one of those members of the 06/07 Warriors, my favorite NBA team ever. Bonus points for that.

http://nba4ever.unblog.fr/files/2009/01/montaellis.jpg

First time I saw him play: He didn't play much in 05/06, I don't have any specific memories of Monta from that season. When I started watching the Warriors a lot in 06/07 I certainly took notice. The first specific memory of Monta that I can come up with is his amazing dunk on Leandro Barbosa (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGZOK4tl8iI). I can still remember Rick Kamla essentially losing his mind over that play for like 5 minutes straight during a highlight show. :oldlol:

Favorite highlight(s): Well, I already mentioned the dunk on barbosa. How about an over the glass shot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NP4ChnLAx0U)? Here's a nice dunk vs. Milwaukee (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWFcy2AuBPo). Old top plays (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DG_jjK65QyE) video.

Best/Favorite moment(s): The first thing that comes to mind is a game vs. PHX in 07/08. It was when the dubs were still looking like they were going to be a playoff team that year, and so were the Suns. Ellis absolutely DESTORYED Phoenix, going for 37 points as the Warriors won by two. That was when I knew he was special.

Best/Favorite game(s): I saw him drop a then-career-high 45 points against Indianna (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1G-SmGRTcs). He has since topped that (46 vs. Dallas), but I don't think I saw that one in it's entirety. In the 45 point game, he was actually fouled out on a horrendous call with like 5 minutes or so to go... I'm sure he would've had 50. Game #2 that comes to mind is the scoring duel he had with Kevin Martin in 08/09. Martin had 50, Monta had 42, the final score was 143-141, Warriors. Crazy game right there.

Player #18 will be Gerald Wallace.

http://offsideswithfletcher.files.wordpress.com/2008/12/gerald_wallace.jpg

Why: Gerald Wallace is hustle in the form of a basketball player. The guy is the epitome of effort. I doubt that he's ever played a game where he's hit the deck less than five times... and he ain't flopping either. Gerald is a fearless driver to the basket. It wouldn't be unfair to call him reckless. This guy has suffered multiple concussions and a punctured lung on the basketball court. GWall doesn't give two sh!ts who's standing underneath that basket, he's taking it full speed ahead, strong to the rack. When you combine this type of attitude with a human being who possesses the size and athleticism of Gerald Wallace, the result is a spectacular style of play. I find Gerald to be highly entertaining.

Aside from all of that, Gerald is an excellent defender. Just as he does on the offensive end, he busts @ss defensively. Gotta love a two-way player. Gerald is one of those block/steal players that all of you fantasy players love to own. One cool thing about watching Gerald is that when he blocks that shot, it was probably a sight to see, and when he stole that ball, he probably finished it with a windmill slam on the other end.

Gerald wasn't much more than a raw athlete when he entered the league, but at this point in his career he has become a pretty skilled player. He has a nice post up game, and his jumper has come a long way. He hit 37% of his threes this season. For a guy who couldn't fall out of a boat and hit water about five years ago, that's not half bad.

Lastly, Gerald Wallace averaged double-digit rebounds this past season... as a small forward. Who doesn't love that?

http://www.nba.com/media/bobcats/Wallace_dunk_060306.jpg

First time I saw him play: Unfortunately, I have absolutely no idea. Maybe in 2005? I remember downloading a Gerald Wallace mix on my computer back in '05, I must've seen him play before or I don't see what would've inspired me to download that video. I probably saw a Bobcats/Celtics game, I used to watch all the Boston games before I had LP.

Favorite highlight(s): It's got to be the dunk on Boki Nachbar (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BP_Zk495p3E)... Jesus. There's some other nice highlights in my Gerald Wallace mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_HEW7HM5co). His alley oop slam over Greg Oden (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJUePjJJvc8) was pretty nasty. He once stuffed Shaq (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bjCL_AXG74).

Best/Favorite moment(s): For whatever reason, this block (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pu10_LKQG0Q) on a Dwyane Wade dunk attempt stands out in my mind. I saw it live, and it's just your typical Gerald Wallace play. Not typical as in "that play was o.k.", but typical as in "this guy makes great hustle plays like this every single night, he really does leave it all on the floor." That's Gerald Wallace for you.

I should also mention that Gerald was the fist ever All-Star from the Charlotte Bobcats. Him playing in the ASG was certainly a great moment.

Best/Favorite game(s): I guess that would have to be the time I watched him drop 40 on Denver in January 2008. A lot of the highlights from that game are in that mix I posted. I also recall that he scored 36 in the following game vs. Orlando.

Player #17 will be Chris "Birdman" Andersen.

http://fourthandfifty.files.wordpress.com/2009/05/chris-andersen.jpg

Why: It's hard for me not to like a high-flying, inked-out white guy who had a rough upbrining, played small college ball, went undrafted, and played in China and the D-League before finally making it to the NBA. Birdman is a great story of perserverence. He chased his dream, never gave up, and made it to the top by working hard. In 2006 (I think it was 2006?), he was suspended from the NBA for two years due to a drug policy violation. Bird very easily could have given up and become a victim of addiction, but instead he changed his lifestyle around and worked hard to make it back to the NBA. He ended up returning as a better player than when he left the league. In 08/09, his first full season back after his suspension, he averaged 2.5 blocked shots per game in just 20 minutes a game. His energy, hustle, and passionate play off the bench helped the Denver Nuggets advance to the Western Conference Finals.

I guess that first paragraph was kind of more why I like the Birdman than why I like watching him play. I guess I like to watch him play because he's just a fun guy to watch. He truely appears to be enjoying every moment he spends on the court, and that makes me enjoy watching him play. He's a hustler, the guy is all over the place. It's awesome to watch him fly around and swat multiple shots on the same possession, then go finish an oop on the other end. His celebrations after he swats a shot are pretty sweet too (see the photo at the top of the post).

http://offsideswithfletcher.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/cand.jpg

First time I saw him play: I saw him play for the Nuggets way back when, but the first time I really took notice of the Bird was in 2006. The Hornets were playing the Grizzlies, and I actually tuned in to watch Desmond Mason. By the end of the night, the Birdman was my second favorite player in the NBA. He had like 4 dunks and a bunch of blocks in that game, and he was really getting the crowd hyped. It was when the Hornets were playing in OKC, the fans were just really into it, it was awesome to watch. Stromile Swift was out with an eye injury at the time, so I started watching every one of Bird's games. Unfortunately, just four games later, he was out for two years with the aforementioned suspension. I remember being devesated when I heard the news, I figured he was done in the league.

Favorite highlight(s): The block on Rudy Fernandez (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VapYYyPuiP4) takes the cake. Reverse oop vs. Kings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quvXX1VDZy4). Swatting Emeka Okafor (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1vyWW8huX8). Mix that I made (http://video.yahoo.com/watch/4890805/13034222).

Best/Favorite moment(s): He once had 3 blocks and 2 dunks in under two minutes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kt2C2hezqMo) vs. the Warriors. That was pretty damn sick.

Best/Favorite game(s): Aside from the game vs. Memphis which I already mentioned, I'm going to have to go with his 8-block game vs. Utah. I found his post-game interview (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGa_mLAWj0Y). He also had a ton of sick highlights in this random game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrvZ2A4eQvo) vs. Washington.

Player #16 will be Nate Robinson. I was planning to include him all along, and if you watched the C's game tonight you know why I'm adding him to the list right now.

http://soulhonky.com/candanny/nateshout.jpg

Why: Well, first of all, the guy is listed at 5'9. If you stand under 6 feet tall and play in the NBA, I'm probably a fan of yours. I'm 5'7, so I definitely like to see the little guys succeed. Yes, Nate is one of the most amazing athletes in the league, but I don't care how high you can jump or how strong you are, playing in the NBA at 5'9 is a great accomplishment. As short as he is, Nate gets to the rim and finishes so well, it's just amazing. He's had his share of in game dunks, some of them have even come in traffic. He does some crazy sh!t.

Secondly, I just love his passion for the game. He gets a little out of control at times, a little too emotional maybe, but the little guy hustles his ass off. He really can be a game changer with his energy, and I think his hustle and ability to score the basketball more than make up for whatever bad shots he may take.

Lastly, I already mentioned it I guess, but his athleticism. WTF?! The guy is a freak-show. Quicker than lighting, strong as an ox, and a 5546456 inch vertical leap. What's not to enjoy about watching athleticism such as Nate's in action? Players with physical talent like him just don't come about every day.

http://block624.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/nate-robinson-nba2.jpg

First time I saw him play: Uh.... no idea. Absolutely no idea. I watched the Knicks quite often in 05/06 and I watched them a ton in 06/07, so I've seen Nate play a whole lot ever since he was a rookie.

Favorite highlight(s): Blocking Shaq (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXp-53dd9wY). Blocking Yao (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svsHlH-IvbY). Putback dunk vs. Celtics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JyxfEKSrKjQ). Off glass dunk from TA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfNweo-sRJo). Dunking on James Posey (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgIFFa7fFaA). Sick dunk vs. Bobcats (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_00EH1KkzM).

Best/Favorite moment(s): One of them just happened tonight, as he came in off the bench and dropped 12 first half points to help the Cs take a commanding lead and advance to the NBA finals. A while back there was his game winner over Allen Iverson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyb00ft7ZQE). All three of his dunk contest victories were cool.

Best/Favorite game(s): It's got to be the 41-pointer vs. ATL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcKhHDtkD9I) after being benched for a month. One of the sickest, greatest, weirdest, freakiest things I've ever witnessed. I saw the game live on NBAtv, and will never EVER forget it. The guy was making impossible shots directly after spending the past 30 days in the doghouse! He's definitely a confident guy, I mean sh!t, it's not easy to go out there and drop 41 when you know if you screw up your ass is going right back to the pine.

http://dimemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/rudy-gay-mem02.jpg

Why: It took Stromile Swift being traded to New Jersey, but Rudy Gay is now one of my favorite players in the league to watch. When Stro played for the Grizz I didn't like Rudy much because he's a shoot first guy, and obviously I wanted him to pass to Stro. :oldlol:

The first word that comes to mind when I think of Rudy Gay is smooth. Well, ok, maybe it's athletic, but I'm going to go with smooth. Rudy makes it look so easy. He can drop 30 and not look like he's trying. I love his silky spin move and turn around jumper that he uses regularly... it just looks so nice. When he's on my fantasy team I get all nervous that he's going to f@ck up my FG%, but he makes those tough shots. Tough-shot-makers are fun players to watch, assuming you can deal with a forced shot every so often. I can deal with that. I usually don't really care if Memphis actually wins the game, so it's whatever. I think Rudy became a better team player this year, actually. He averaged almost a point per game more than he did last year, yet only took .1 more shots per game. He also raised his FG% and assists (slightly) while lowering his TOs. He managed to function with other scorers such as ZBo and OJ Mayo. I like how he's progressing.

Back to the athletic thing, I don't think I need to elaborate. Rudy is one of the sickest dunkers in the game. He has those nasty one handed slams where he c@cks it waaaay back and just cranks it on the guy. Crazy power involved in his dunks.

http://www.wallcoo.net/sport/NBA_Memphis_Grizzlies/images/gay-wallpaper-73315589-1024.jpg

First time I saw him play: The first game of his NBA career: a triple-OT thriller vs the Knicks. I remember this game very clearly... Memphis ended up losing by one, Q-Rich had 31 points, and Stromile Swift was out with an injury. I don't remember this game because of Rudy, but it was the first time I saw him play. This game is part of the reason why I watched the Knicks a lot in 06/07. They sucked, but I thought that team was pretty entertaining.

Actually, now that I think about it, I must've seen Rudy play in the preseason that year, so I saw him play even before the Knicks game. So scratch all of that (not gonna backspace it though), I think I first saw him play in a preseason game vs. Houston, but that might not be right. Pretty sure that is right though.

Favorite highlight(s): In this Rudy Gay mix that I made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1NXRexOhdC0), at the 11 second mark you will see a powerful one handed slammer over Desagana Diop. Rudy bangs it so hard that he ball hits the floor then bounces back up and hits the bottom of the basket structure... it was like he dunked a superball. That's my favorite Rudy dunk. Other sick highlights: Banging on Mutombo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAvah8yt3T4). Dunking on Yi in '08 summer league (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay2-0QMt_tU). Top 10 dunks video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WJInYMQe1eM). Sick windmill (check out who threw the PERFECT full-court pass). (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXlX48oHND8) :pimp:

Best/Favorite moment(s): Game winner vs. OKC (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA3oBD16N9E). Game winner vs. Magic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poyS9OMAlaE). Am I forgetting something? I feel like I am.

Best/Favorite game(s): I witnessed his career-high scoring game vs. Miami... he had 41 points and like 5 zillion sick dunks (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_see87yq88o). He was on my fantasy squad at the time, that made it extra sick. :lol

There was also a game in the 07/08 season where Rudy had 31 points and a clutch three that tied the game late in either regulation or OT... they were playing the Hornets, and they ended up losing, but it was a great game. I believe Chris Paul hit a game winner and had a lot of points.

Player #14 will be Tim Thomas. I'm going to be brief with the words in this update because I have a feeling most people won't read past the word "Thomas" anyway. If you're still reading, TT says thanks. LA Laker fans, I suggest you don't read any further.

http://www.espn.go.com/photo/2006/0505/nba_a_thomas_268.jpg

Why: Mostly because of his performance in the 2006 playoffs. The first round series vs. LA and that game where he had six threes vs. Dallas is pretty much why he's on here. TT was my favorite performer in one of my favorite playoff runs ever, I had to put him on the list. Also, wearing two headbands at the same time definitely boosts your chances of making one of my favorite player lists (take note current NBAers who are seeking a fan and wear either zero or one headband).

I guess I just like tall athletic players who choose to chuck lots of threes even though they could go to the basket. I like Al Harrington too. Not as much as I like TT though.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e371/StroShow4/51702166.jpg

First time I saw him play: It was back in his double-headband days... it was before I had cable TV, I was pretty young, so it must've been a playoff game or something. I remember rooting for him in that game simply because he was wearing two headbands. I also remember watching him drop 20 in his PHX debut, that's the earliest specific TT memory I can come up with.

Favorite highlight(s): My TT mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CfoiqoSn9o) includes all of them (yes, I made a TT mix). His sick dunks from his younger days, his clutch threes vs. LA (the game tying one and the one right in front of Phil), and that clutch shot in the face of his arch-nemesis and fellow StroShow favorite Kenyon Martin. Oh, and let's not forget the kiss, that's in there too. Kinda funny that he's on Dirk's team now. :lol

Best/Favorite moment(s): Well I guess I already mentioned this in the highlights section, but my favorite TT moment is easily his game tying three (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pylV_2mT7BE) in game six vs LA to save PHX from being eliminated. Also the clutch three (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ3bH5o9vrg) from the same game which happened right in front of the Laker bench. I remember watching him knock that sh!t down and do that "can't feel my face" thing right in front of the opposing bench, that sh!t put chills through me. I don't care if I sound corny, I'm being 100% serious. One of my favorite NBA moments ever.

Best/Favorite game(s): Gotta be that game six vs LA, followed by game five vs Dallas. The Suns actually lost that one, but he had six threes, and I enjoyed that very much.

Jamal Crawford

Andre Miller

Gerald Wallace
Chris Andersen
Nate Robinson
Rudy Gay
Tim Thomas

Some of the best players in the league are listed, and every player I've listed so far except for Tim Thomas is currently a good player. Nate and Birdman are bench players, but it's not like they never contribute. Even TT wasn't a complete scrub during his time. :confusedshrug:

No one is on here strictly for comedic value, I have listed plenty of serious reasons why I like to watch each of these players.

Of course there's lots of entertaining players on this list, it's my 25 favorite players to watch, which is not the same as my 25 favorite players.

Player #13 will be Derrick Rose.

http://www.inkedpros.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/poodihni1.jpg

Why: He's spectacular. I can't really think of how I want to elaborate on this, it's self explanatory, he's just spectacular to watch. I guess it shows mostly on his drives to the basket. His combination of quickness, strength, leaping ability, and body control make for some pretty sick finishes. He flies in there and moves the ball all over the place before finally finishing the layup, it's pretty sick to watch. Other times he just slams it in someone's face, that's also pretty sick to watch.

Another thing I like about D-Rose is his demeanor. He never looks stressed, never looks like he's sweating anything. He plays like he's always got everything all under control. He's one of those dudes where his facial expression never really changes, and he doesn't seem to yap a lot. Also, when his team needs a basket, Derrick Rose will try to go get one. Lots of times he does get one. Rose doesn't shy away from the big moments, he definitely has what it takes to be a star.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_42w5-R0zz2g/SzBAMfHFp7I/AAAAAAAAKLo/rG9x5xNKo3M/s400/Derrick+Rose+Dunks+On+Donte+Greene.jpg

First time I saw him play: I watched the National Championship game vs. Kansas, the one where Chalmers hit that crazy shot. Memphis lost, but I remember that I really enjoyed watching Rose play. As for the first time I saw him play in the NBA, it was some random preseason game, I think it may have been vs. the Sixers... that might not be right, but it was a preseason game.

Favorite highlight(s): Dunking on the Dragon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VYKzPOdXTo) FTW. Dropping Andre Miller (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAA8mLz8aJ0). Alley-oop vs. ATL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDdmE6WVZgc). Cross and slam vs. Philly (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtwMmYz21TQ). Reverse dunk vs. Celtics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJktVDUiDIk). Highlight mix that I made (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-woDLQJAIF8).

Best/Favorite moment(s): Just a few weeks into his NBA career, he had a game vs. the Warriors where he had 25 points after scoring only one basket in the first half (may have had a couple FTs too, I don't remember). Anyway, he hit some very tough jumpers and driving shots in traffic to carry Chicago to a W. Here's his highlights (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6naB2At8vC0) from that game. Check out the explosiveness at 1:22, and the tough shot at 2:32.

Best/Favorite game(s): Gotta be game one (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsOF46nS4Fo) of the 2009 playoffs first round series vs. Boston. Rose had 36 points and 11 assists in the game, the 36 points matched Kareem's playoff debut record. He was making contested jumpers and driving shots that were totally bonkers. If I remember correctly, he knocked down two extremely clutch free throws with under a minute left to give the Bulls a lead. That's not easy to do in your first playoff game EVER. The game did end up in OT, Bulls still won it.

Player #12 will be Stephen Jackson.

http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/valleyfever/Stephen%20Jackson.jpg

Why: Stack is a dude who can explode randomly at any time... explode in a few different ways actually... he might hit like 5 threes in a row, or he might get in a fight and get tossed out of the game. Whichever method of explosion he chooses on a given night, there's a lot of potential for solid entertainment. Stack wears his heart on his sleeve, I have always liked that type of player I guess... maybe it's because when I play basketball that's how I am. I like passionate players, it makes it fun to care as a fan when the player clearly cares a lot. Sometimes Jackson does let his emotions get the best of him, but overall I like his fire. Stack is one of those guys who wants to guard the best player on the other team every game. I love that attitude. Stack is relentless, even if he's not having a good game, he's gonna keep coming at you. Sometimes I suppose that isn't the best plan for the team, but again, I love the attitude and determination to win the game.

Jackson was one of those members of the 06/07 Warriors, my favorite team ever, so he was pretty much automatic to make this list. I still enjoy watching him in Charlotte though. He and Gerald are a nice duo who both bring it every single night.

http://www.onemanfastbreak.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/StephenJacksonKobeBryantGetty.jpg

First time I saw him play: I know I saw him play for the Spurs in the playoff a few times, but I wasn't an NBA fanatic back then, so I don't remember it all that well. The first clear memory of Stack that I can come up with is actually the brawl (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4avfapXZwqU). :oldlol:

Favorite highlight(s): Unlike many of the players mentioned so far, Stack isn't a big highlight guy. He gets up for a nice dunk or crosses someone up every once in a while, but he's not making top 10s on the regular. Here's a mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MM940mEPyCo) that someone made from his 06/07 season.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Oh man, there was this game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1UZQOVO6rLY) in 2008 where he went at it with Kobe from beyond the arc during the final minute. First, Kobe hit a three, then Jack hit one, then Kobe hit another, and then Jackson finally iced the game with yet another three from like two feet beyond the arc. All of that happened on consecutive possessions in less than a minute of game time. One of the sickest finishes I've ever seen, will never EVER forget it. Man, watching that youtube video really brings back great memories.

Best/Favorite game(s): Game 6 vs. the Mavericks in the first round of the 2009 playoffs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHSguZbGK0w) is easily my favorite. Jackson hit 7 threes in a row and the Warriors knocked the Mavericks out of the playoffs. I always remember that last one where Barnes drops it back to him and he hits it in the guy's face... :pimp:

No love for Stephen Jackson I gues... player #11 will be Sonny Weems.

http://www4.pictures.gi.zimbio.com/NCAA+Basketball+Tournament+Raleigh+First+Round+CtV ahWgbuiHl.jpg

Why: As many of you already know, Sonny Weems became my favorite current NBA player over the course of this past season. By no means is he a Stromile Swift replacement, no one ever will be, but I do really like Sonny. I like how he was barely hanging onto his NBA dream by a thread, and in just one season he was starting over the team's #1 free agent acquistion. He put in a lot of hard work to get to where he is now, and if he continues to work hard I think he will be a very good player. That's why I like Sonny Weems, but why do I like to watch him play? I guess mainly because he's a sick athlete. He's fast and has incredible ups, making him fun as hell to watch as he runs the floor and slams down alley-oops. I don't really know why Sonny stuck out to me more than any other athletic swingman, but he did.

http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/01551/Sonny_Weems_1551799i.jpg

First time I saw him play: Aside from a few seconds of garbage time with Denver during his rookie season, the first time I saw Sonny play was in a preseason game vs. Boston, and to be honest with you, I wasn't all that impressed. He was forcing lots of jumpers, and not hitting them either. I didn't figure that he'd be getting much playing time if he got any at all.

Favorite highlight(s): They're all included in my Sonny Weems mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vQ12W6cTGM4). I love the second play in the video, the alley-oop where he dunks it then swings on the rim and bumps into Nene. I'm a big fan of demonstrative rim hanging.

Best/Favorite moment(s): I would have to go with his streak of consecutive shots made, which occurred over a period of two games. I forget how many shots he made in a row, but the number was in double-digits. What made it cool is that a lot of the shots were midrange jumpers, the shot he worked so hard to improve. The streak was like the fruit or his labor, it was nice to watch things work out so well for him.

Best/Favorite game(s): He had a game where he went 8-8 from the floor and scored 17 points against the Clippers. He set his career high of 21 points vs. Boston, that was a nice performance. My personal favorite would probably be the one vs. the Nets where he had 14/11 and a whole bunch of sick dunks... you'll see them all if you watch the mix I posted in the highlight section.

Player #10 will be Allen Iverson.

http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z233/poorsportsblog/9696AllenIversonRookieDraftPick1.jpg

Why: Before you read any further, forget about all that Pistons and Grizzlies nonsense for a minute and think back to Sixers AI (the first time around).

Watching Allen Iverson was always an inspirational experience for me, particularly when I was young. Watching a six-footer score 30 a game against NBA competition really made me feel like I could be a basketball player at my height (not on the NBA level, obviously, but on a local level). When I first started playing I tried to copy some of Iverson's moves and shots, I wore his shoes and his clothing, and I hung posters of him all over my walls. Iverson was my favorite player NBA before Stromile Swift.

Aside from the personal stuff, I liked to watch Iverson for a lot of reasons. First of all, his crossover was one of the best ever. His handles in general were amazing. As I said when I wrote about Jamal Crawford, he kind of brought a street style to the NBA, and it was just fun to watch. Secondly, he's was a great athlete. The guy was quick as hell, and every once in a while he'd break out a shocking and nasty dunk. Lastly, Iverson's another one of those guys who played hard. He probably didn't always go about it the right way, but Allen Iverson took to the court for one reason: to win the basketball game. He was always in attack-mode, he simply knew no other way to play the game.

http://nicekicks.com/files/2009/12/reebok-question-white-red-6.jpg

First time I saw him play: I have absolutely no idea. I would've been pretty young, probably 10-12 years old or something, I just have no idea. I remember that my dad was an AI hater back then (he ended up liking AI eventually), so I secretly rooted for him for a while as a kid. :lol

Favorite highlight(s): Iverson was a highlight machine in his day, so I'm sure I'm leaving out lots of good material... here's a few off the top of my head: Driving Antonio Daniels to the hardwood. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWDbJrOfqmU) Filthy putback slam. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ozb-h1Kj5es) Filthy putback slam #2. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hS2YMzmp9M) Crazy pass. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KLJ_ph2SwA)

Best/Favorite moment(s): The first two that come to mind are the cross on MJ (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y3X274lz3wY) and the brutal pwnage of Lue (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL8biXfHb-k). Classic stuff right there. Here's a mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPnDuP9Il10) of a bunch of his game winners, I just don't have time to post them all.

Best/Favorite game(s): His 48-pointer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79WSHpMU894) in game one of the finals vs. the Lakers takes the cake I suppose. I remember him dropping 51 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBfu2ambiYY) on the Lakers as a member of the Nuggets. He had a career-high 60 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEk3DmrzmXs) vs. Orlando. The guy is a future HOFer, he's had tons of great games, the list could go on and on.

I would have went with prime instead of the present as well. The thing that made AI my favorite player was his fearlessness. Just the fact that he didn't care who he was up against, he was going to play hard regardless.

Over the past like, 5 years or so, people have been knocking him hard and just absolutely shitting all over his legacy, revising the dude's history. I saw it coming though, they were news writers saying negative things about the guy in his prime as well. The thing that made AI my favorite player was his fearlessness. Just the fact that he didn't care who he was up against, he was going to play hard regardless.

Yeah, "fearless" is certainly an accurate one-word description of Iverson.

Growing up in this area, there's never been a more influential athlete in the Philly/Delaware/South Jersey area than AI. When you went to the playground every single kid had on his shoes, shorts, maybe a jersey, a headband, and possibly the sleeve. I remember when I went to a Sixers camp (wasn't really a camp, it was only a day and free so more like a clinic) in south Jersey and there were probably 150+ kids there spread out over 5 courts, all wearing AI gear. World B Free was hosting it and made some comment about it. Playing style, clothing, hairstyle...everything was influenced by AI here. He was King. My Iverson memorabilia runs deep. I had all 4 bobbleheads (three that McDonalds sold and a rookie one from idk where), an Iverson piggy bank from McDonalds, the black/white/blue jerseys (yes Stro I had the blue jersey), his rookie jersey, a picture framed on the wall, everything. All of his books. He's the only athlete I was ever a true groupie for, Speights doesn't compare, and the sole reason I started to like basketball in the first place.

Iverson is the reason I fell in love with basketball. Up until I started watching him I was all about baseball but as soon as AI caught my attention I put the bat and glove down and never looked back. His style and **** you attitude was perfect for a young kid like me moving into his teenage years. AI is and probably always will be my favorite player.

Player #9 will be Kobe Bryant. As I'm sure many of you know, Kobe Bryant has never been a favorite player of mine, so you may be confused as to why I'm listing him. Remember, these are my favorite players to watch, not my favorite players. I'm not a big Kobe fan, I kind of have that love/hate thing going on with Kobe, sometimes I like him sometimes I don't... but I will say that I almost always enjoy watching him play, whether I'm rooting for him or against him.

http://sportige.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/kobe-bryant-lakers1.jpg

Why: Well first of all, when it's all said and done, Kobe Bryant is going to be a top 10 player of all time according to everyone. The dude is a great player, and greatness is usually an exciting thing to witness. I'm not always cheering for Kobe and his team, but I can appreciate his talent and respect his skill-level all the time. Even when I'm not cheering for the Lakers, Kobe will do something crazy, and I won't get pissed... I'll just say something like, "whoa, that was freaking unbelievable." ...and I'll be pleased that I got to see such a great play. I don't love Kobe, but I definitely don't hate him either. Don't be fooled by those trolls in the NBA forum who are convinced that I have some sort of hatred for Kobe simply because I don't suck his nuts 24/7.

One thing I really respect about Kobe is his work ethic. Kobe Bryant is a top player in the NBA because of the work he has put in, plain and simple. Kobe has outworked pretty much everyone, so he's better than pretty much everyone. I enjoy watching hard work pay off for people... it's a nice thing to see. I will also say the same thing about Kobe that I said about Jamal Crawford: Kobe Bryant is a tough-shot-maker. He takes difficult shots quite often, but he makes them look easy. Players who do that are fun to watch in my opinion.

Lastly, I like to watch Kobe because he is INSANE at the end of games. It's like every time he shoots during a close game in the 4th quarter you know that f@cker is going in. It's crazy, it's like he gets better as the defense gets tighter and the stakes get higher. Killer instinct at it's finest.

http://letustalk.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/kobe-bryant-dunk.jpg

First time I saw him play: Once again, I have absolutely no freaking clue. I'm sure it was a really long time ago, the Lakers have always been on TV a lot. I know I saw him play plenty of times during the three-peat years, but I don't remember that stuff very clearly.

Favorite highlight(s): I always thought his dunk on Ben Wallace (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-B1YpMQgQAQ) was f@cking disgusting. Other than that, I don't think I'm going to list highlights, there's just way too many of them. Here's a mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyKgaeAoa-g) for you. I think that mix was made by some Kobe-slurping nutjob, and I would just like to say that no, I don't endorse that dude's views, but he did make a nice mix with tons of good footage.

Best/Favorite moment(s): One that I saw live that I will never forget is his game winner in game 4 of the '06 playoffs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPEhmLIBXvI). Man, what a game/series that was. I know I already said this in the TT post, but that was one of my favorite playoff series ever. Kobe has obviously had TONS of great moments, but I'm just going to leave it at that because that one stands out above the rest for me.

Best/Favorite game(s): Well it's gotta be the 81 pointer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qRikrksH8es), duh. I'm still f@cking kicking myself for deciding to go to bed that night rather than watch the game... I was a dumb teenager, these days I would've been smart enough to stay up. Who needs sleep? I have seen the raplay on NBAtv a few times, but that isn't the same. The most impressive Kobe game I've ever seen live was probably his 61 pointer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TNCltZmsBpg) vs. NY. He had that one spin move near the end, I think on Wilson Chandler... man, the footwork is just bonkers. I remember going to the gym trying to do that sh!t and just getting all tangled up. I also saw him drop 60 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_p6Q5yvrL-0) on the Grizzlies during his 4 straight games of 50 or more. That streak was nuts, I think I actually saw every game. I know I saw the 65 vs. Portland and the 60 vs. Memphis, pretty damn sure I saw the 50 vs. New Orleans... may have missed the Minnesota game.

There really are very few players in the NBA who I truly can't stand... I'm talking players who litterally make me angry when they succeed. There are TONS of players where there's a thing or two I dislike about them, but then there's stuff I like about them too. For me there seems to be fewer and fewer players that I strongly dislike every season. I guess I have found ways to appreciate more players as I continue to watch more NBA basketball. The only players who I would say I really can't stand are Derek Fisher and Manu Ginobili... especially Derek Fisher. I strongly dislike that motherf@cker, and I'm not going to lie, I get pissed off when he makes any type of meaningful play.

I've never been way into ranking players or anything like that, but I used to argue and rank more than I do now. Over the past two seasons I have spent almost all of my time simply appreciating the NBA and posting non-ordered lists of stuff that I like and sh!t. Derek Fisher is honestly the luckiest guy in the world. Clutch, yes, but some of his tactics I hate, and he's the beneficiary of playing with great teammates.

I hated him before I really started watching the NBA a lot in 2004, but I only hated him because a lot of people around me hated him. Player #8 will be JR Smith. Yeah I like to watch JR Smith, you got a problem with that?

http://www.intentionalfoul.com/images/jrsmith.jpg

Why: I suppose reason #1 would be because he's so damn explosive. JR Smith is like the mystery box, you never really know what you're going to get when he checks into the game... but there's always potential for a scoring outburst, either in the form of really deep threes or athletic dunks, or a mixture of both. Actually, JR has become more than just threes and dunks, he's got game. He creates his own shots off the dribble and is capable of making plays for his teammates. People think of him as a chucker (not saying he has never chucked), but he's actually not a bad passer. In my opinion, JR Smith is extremely talented in a lot of different areas... I'm not quite sure if he will ever figure out how to maximize that talent, but it's definitely there.

To sum it all up, is JR Smith the smartest player in the league? No way. If you can deal with an occasional ill-advised shot, is he pretty fun to watch? I think so.

http://theurbandaily.com/files/2010/03/2i8xhjs.jpg

First time I saw him play: It must have been back when he played for the Hornets, I'd see him when I tuned in to watch D-Mase and Birdman. I remember this dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7k2vCr4phI4) over the Vanilla Gorilla.

EDIT: I just remembered that I saw him play in high school. I watched the McDonald's All American game that he played in, he hit all of those crazy-deep three pointers. That's the first time I ever heard of JR Smith or saw him play.

Favorite highlight(s): 360 alley oop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yW2Otj4kWug). Bonkers putback (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTZVlLrTKX0). Behind the back slam from the dunk contest. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T85WnlYIwzs) Dunking on a fool. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TkEkdOkTuxg) Mix #1. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdluMQZ4iyo) Mix #2. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lUsHhKBaIw)

Best/Favorite moment(s): I watched him drop 25 points on the Grizz in the 4th quarter (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xuo7iUjI32s). Other than that, there was the infamous chicken dance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOrunrtNzsU). That will never EVER get old. :oldlol:

Best/Favorite game(s): I recall watching him drop 11 three pointers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79Cz9nijb30) against the Kings. That's not the best game though... the best one would be his 43-pointer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6SaYDkvlGo) vs. Chicago off the bench. Some of the shots he made late in that game... my god.

There's one more thing I have to say about JR Smith. I can't belive I forgot this in the post I made last night: I'm not sure there's a player who is crazier to watch when he's "feeling it" than JR Smith. Other players on my list who do some crazy things when they're on fire include Kobe, LeBron, Crawford, and Melo... but none of them make shots like some of the ones JR makes, particularly the insanely deep three pointers. He'll catch the ball and launch it quickly, or pull up off the dribble fading away, he'll get them off however he can. When JR has a streak going, he can make a bunch of those in a row... it's just nuts.

Player #7 will be John Salmons.

http://www.nba.com/media/jsalmons_300_071204.jpg

Why: I have always been fascinated by his handles... that's pretty much the reason. His one-on-one moves off the dribble that he uses to create space for his jumper are just really awesome. I feel that he overdribbles at times, but I usually focus on John Salmons to try to learn a move or two, so I'm only worried about the overdribbling if I want his team to win really bad for whatever reason. I watch John Salmons for educational purposes, basically. I watch his moves then go to the gym and try to figure them out. I love the hesitation move he does where he acts like he's going to drive to the basket but ends up shooting the jumper instead... I can sort of do it, but not like him. Still working on that.

I can't make a post about John Salmons without a mention of his goatee. I know the facial hair really has no purpose in this thread, but that goatee is epic, just had to bring it up real quick.

http://www.nba.com/media/kings/salmons.jpg

First time I saw him play: It was when he played for the Sixers for sure. I can't come up with a specific game or anything, but definitely when he played for Philly. He didn't get very many minutes back then (when you're an SG on a team with prime Allen Iverson, you don't see the court too much), but I remember always thinking that he could be a good player if he ever got to see big minutes. Gotta give myself credit for calling that.

Favorite highlight(s): Breakin' ankles. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7Ast_zKQ0M) Reverse jam. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EbzWoWolnQ) Reverse jam #2. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJwPnMuCxjk) Reverse jam #3. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2zwau8QhOc) I'm not really coming up with any specific favorite highlights, I guess I just love his handles.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Not really a moment, but not a game either, so I will list it here: After helping Chicago make the playoffs and take Boston to 7 games in the first round last season, Salmons was having a rough 09/10 season. His PPG had dropped way off, and he was out of the starting lineup. The Bulls looked to get rid of him, and he was traded to Milwaukee in Febuary. He joined the Bucks and scored 15+ in his first 9 games with his new squad (Milwaukee won 8 of these games). He ended up being a major factor in Milwaukee's playoff run, which was nice to see because A)he had pretty much fallen off the face of the earth in Chicago, and B)Milwaukee got pretty good and would've made even more noise if Bogut didn't go down.

I will also list a couple of game winners here: vs. Mavs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvRaLkAuRp4),
vs. Warriors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvQ8inrRIVw).

Best/Favorite game(s): I remember one game where he gave the business to the Lakers. I think the Kings lost, but I remember Salmons going crazy. Must've been this game (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/boxscore;_ylt=Ag9QOO0mNY04TDZOxYIX38O5PKB4?gid=200 8121213), he had 26 points. Then there was his career-high-tying 38-pointer vs. the Celtics in that epic first round series. I also watched him drop 32 on ATL this season right after he joined the Bucks. The Bucks lost, but that one was a great game.

Player #6 will be Brandon Jennings.

http://pickandpop.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/brandon-jennings-bucks.jpg

Why: Jennings has only completed one NBA season, but I enjoyed watching him enough that I feel like he deserves to be on the list. I think the thing I like most about Jennings is his swagger. This young man oozes swag. He has the type of confidence that can elevate a guy to super-stardom. Honestly, when I first found out about Brandon Jennings I didn't even like him (I'll elaborate in the next section)... but I certainly do now. The Milwaukee Bucks were probably one of the teams I watched the least in 08/09, but in 09/10 I watched them very regularly, and the biggest difference for me was Jennings.

Once again, like a few other players on this list, I like the fact that Jennings is a little guy (listed at 6'1, 169). He reminds me of Iverson from time to time when he decides to attack the paint and take it right at the big guys. He's quick, skilled, confident, athletic, and determined. I like those qualities.

Lastly, as I did with John Salmons, I have to mention something that isn't really basketball related: Brandon Jennings had some of the coolest hairstyles in recent NBA history this season. There was the high-top fade, the mohawk with the bleached stripe, etc... not any player could pull those looks off, but he does.

http://www.everyjoe.com/expertfantasy/files/2009/12/brandon-jennings-bucks-krtphotoslive380788-SPORTS-BKN-BUCK.jpg

First time I saw him play: I think it was the McDonalds All American game... I remember I actually didn't get a good first impression. He did an interview before the game where he said he wanted to set the assist record, I guess he just came off as really cocky to me (it took me a while to accept his cockiness as his phenomenal swag). In the game, he forced a lot of bad passes simply to try to get assists, I didn't really like that. I didn't figure I'd ever like Jennings, but for whatever reason, when he made the NBA I just dropped all that stuff and decided to become a fan. I had to once I saw him play, he was way too fun to watch for me to be hating on him all the time.

Favorite highlight(s): My favorite Jennings highlight is that coast-to-coast behind the back move and layup (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOhai1LdAfQ) he did vs. the Pistons. That was pretty sick. For more highlights, see my Brandon Jennings mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vn6Wy2bJGLs).

Best/Favorite moment(s): I pretty much cover everything serious in the favorite games section, so let me go with something humorous... how about the time he tried to take Andrew Bogut's free throws (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZ_DVzHrG_4)?

Best/Favorite game(s): Well that would obviously have to be the 55-pointer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RTzGIvfieU) vs. the Warriors. Not only is that my favorite Brandon Jennings game, that's one of the best individual performances I've ever seen, period. I watched it live on NBAtv, so glad I got to see that one. For a 6-1 rookie t score 55 points in a game, even against the Warriors, that's bonkers. I will probably never witness such a thing ever again.

Another great showing was his first ever playoff game. The Bucks lost to the Hawks, but Jennings scored 34 points (only two shy of the 36 scored by Derrick Rose in his playoff debut). He also had a 35 point game against the ROY Tyreke Evans and his Sacramento Kings.

Rasheed Wallace

Brandon Jennings might be my favorite player to watch currently. He's got style, swagger, and he's pretty humble and will do anything to win. Player #5 will be Shaquille O'Neal.

http://www.courant.com/media/photo/2009-06/47704533.jpg

Why: Even at this advanced stage of his career, Shaq is still interesting to watch, at least to me. Watching a guy just straight beast on people like he's a grown man playing 5-year-olds on a nerf hoop... it's just fascinating. Shaq is so freaking huge, it's unreal. Of course you combine that crazy size with the crazy athleticism he had back in his day and you get one of the freakiest athletes ever to set foot on a basketball court. Who am I to say watching a guy like that is not entertaining?

In addition to size and athleticism, Shaq actually has skills. He's got post moves, he's a very good passer for a guy who stands 7'2, and he can even handle the ball a little bit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Eu2NrAqQr4). That play makes me think WTF every time. No man as big as Shaq has any business doing that.

Lastly, Shaquille O'Neal has always been an entertainer. He's serious when he plays the game and he plays to win, but he's a showman. When he makes a great play he'll make sure everyone watching knows about it. Ask Chris Dudley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNOYChVkvPs), he'll tell you what I mean.

http://ryansarda.files.wordpress.com/2009/06/nba_a_shaquille_395.jpg

First time I saw him play: Beats me. Probably a playoff game back when he played for the Lakers during the three-peat era. I don't think I ever saw him play live for the Magic, that was before my time. I was only like 8 years old when he joined the Lakers. I have seen lots of footage and old games from his years in Orlando and even his college days, though.

Favorite highlight(s): I already showed that sick crossover and the dunk on Dudley in previous sections. His dunk on David Robinson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v53lwRhU4fs) in the ASG was sick. Here's the famous alley oop vs. the Blazers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_ikaIDz-Ck). Another dirty dunk vs. Portland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMX1FGwyr38). His best highlight ever has got to be the time he tore down the entire basket (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZP9OSWEUaus). He actually did that twice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mFME30bB7ok). Oh, let's not forget the time he led the fast break (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCJYT8M5rMg) vs. the Clippers.

Best/Favorite moment(s): Well, there's the three championships with the Lakers, the championship with the Heat, the MVP award, all that stuff you already know about... I don't think I can come up with anything that everyone who's reading this doesn't already know about. I'll just leave it at that.

Best/Favorite game(s): I don't remember this very well, I was pretty young, but he had the following bonkers statline in game two of the '01 finals: 28/20/9/8blk... WTF. He once dropped 61 points and 23 rebounds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EefJHAWigvY) against the Clippers.
I watched him score 45 points against the Raptors at age 36, that was pretty cool.

I don't hate him for that as much as I hate the refs for allowing it to happen.

Shaq was almost too dominant. He was just purely unstoppable. I hated him for a while for the way he abused the 01 Sixers in the Finals and probably gave Dikembe permanent brain damage. In hindsight, I can't help but look back in awe of his career.

Before I move on to the top 5 players, I would like to do a little honorable mention list... here's a few players who have been favorites of mine at some point in the past who won't make the list because they aren't really as relevent anymore.

Rasheed Wallace
Matt Barnes
Darius Miles
Baron Davis
Eddy Curry
Ricky Davis

Six pretty random players, but at some point during my time as an NBA fan I considered these players favorites of mine. Three of them are still kicking around, the other three have pretty much fallen off the face of the earth.

The countdown will continue tomorrow.

Finally some1 whos not a Ricky Davis hater, he was my fav. player growing up, hes playing in turkey now and doing fine, but havent seen much footage of it.

Player #4 will be Stromile Swift.

http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slideshows/1057/slideshow_105756/display_image.jpg

Why: I don't know. Seriously, I don't know. I guess it's got to be because he used to do lots of sick dunks... but there's a wide variety of players who do lots of sick dunks... so what made Stromile Swift stand out to me? Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. All I know is that he's my favorite basketball player ever and I don't see him ever being replaced. Stromile Swift is the only player where I feel like I can't miss a game, can't not have a piece of memorabilia, or can't not know something about his career. I know that's not a reason why I like to watch him play, but that's what makes him different from every other NBA player that I like. He's the only one where my fanhood goes to that next level.

I would like to mention that even though I think Vince Carter is the greatest in-game dunker of all time, I'm not sure that I've ever seen a dunker as versatile as Stromile Swift. Stro can dunk off two feet, off one foot, with his right hand, with his left hand, power dunk, flashy dunk, facial dunk, reverse dunk... any type of dunk, Stro can and has done it. What other player could realistically throw down a windmill, a two footed/two handed power facial, and a driving one hander all in the same game?

Maybe I like to watch Stro because he has the flashes of brilliance that leave you wanting more. He'll make some insane play where you're like "HOLY WTF?!".....but unfortunately he may not do something like that again for a week. That would cause most people to jump off the bandwagon ASAP. Not me, I'm crazy.

http://www.loudsportsshorts.com/basketball/dunks/swift_over_ming.jpg

First time I saw him play: January 17th, 2005 vs. the Houston Rockets. That's the game where he dunked it over Yao. It was on TNT, I didn't have league pass at the time, so that's why I was watching it. Stro scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He's been my favorite player ever since.

Favorite highlight(s): Oh man, I could post favorite Stromile Swift highlights for days. First of all, the famous dunk over Yao Ming (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJRAPKHXX54). Secondly, the famous dunk over Tyrus Thomas (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FfN0gF6MIRQ). I really liked this dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeJLjGi5_Zo) over Zaza Pachulia and Josh Smith, Stro had a great game that day. Man, watching that play still gives me chills, what a great memory there. Anyway, if you want to see more, just check out my Stromile Swift youtube channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/Stromile4Swift). You really should click that if you've got nothing else to do, I guarantee there are cool dunks you've never seen before.

Best/Favorite moment(s): My favorite Stromile Swift moment is actually an off the court thing. I'd have to say that meeting him in person for the first time and getting my jersey signed personally would be my favorite. I still feel like I'm so fortunate to have met my favorite NBA player, it's not like that happens to everyone. It seems crazy that I just showed up to a game and managed to get his attention, and then that he was cool enough to acknowledge my presence. Definitely something I will never forget.

Best/Favorite game(s): Well obviously the one vs. the Rockets where he dunked it over Yao, the first time I saw him play (talked about it in the "first time I saw him play" section). My favorite one ever though just might have been his 26/9/2/3/4 game vs. the Warriors in January of 2007. I remember he was really into it that night, he played like I felt he should play every night. That game was just a great game period, the final score was f@cking 144-135, Memphis won... in regulation too. Craziness. Another one I really enjoyed was against Sacramento, I believe it was also in '07. Stro had like 8 points in a row late in the game to help Memphis make a comeback. They ended up losing, but it was still a good game for Swift. He had a really sick dunk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-RoD9p8Xjs) too. Lastly, I will mention a national TV game vs. Chicago where he checked in late and had three dunks in a really short period of time... I've got a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vixBsXPoaTw) of that one.

Player #3 will be Donte Greene.

http://static.blogcritics.org/09/09/25/114581/donte-greene.jpg

Why: Donte Greene, "The Highlight Machine"... that pretty much explains it. He's a spectacular athlete who makes lots of exciting plays. He's a young guy with lots of potential (showed flashes of great play this season) who played for a fun team (I liked watching the Kings this season). Also, Donte is one of those tall dudes who is athletic and skilled enough to play like three different positions. I find players like that fun to watch. I guess versatility is entertaining to me. Donte seems to get pretty hyped when he's on the court, he's always showing some sort of emtotion when he makes a good play. I think that stuff adds a lot to the entertainment factor. Lastly, who doesn't like a dude who has his own youtube show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gz6CjdFLVrc)?

http://www.nba.com/media/act_donte_greene.jpg

First time I saw him play: Uh.... I think it may have been in a summer league game, but I'm not really sure to be honest. Donte used to be sick in summer league, here's a game where he dropped 40 points (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8g2IPe8nSo).

Favorite highlight(s): His monster block on Amare (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gSN3_4AWv-M) is probably my favorite. Here's a nice clutch block (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_E21comxlo) against Kobe Bryant. For more, see my Donte Greene mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qFJ7CGQciQ).

Best/Favorite moment(s): There was the little show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zG9J4MAZx_0) he put on vs. the Cavs where he had a nice alley-oop slam from Tyreke, then followed it up with a steal and an and1 layup on LeBron James. The crowd was going bonkers, it was pretty cool.

EDIT: I somehow forgot about the time he scored nine points in one minute (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qpcy2aQjOE) vs. the Raptors. I definitely meant to include that.

Best/Favorite game(s): My favorite Donte Greene game went down this past Febuary vs. PHX... Donte had been playing a lot of SG, but he got the nod to start at PF vs. Amare in this game. Donte ended up dropping 31 points and having that sick block I posted in the highlight section. I liked the way he came out against Amare in attack mode, the way he showed no fear and did not hesitate. The Kings lost and Amare had 30 himself, but it was still a nice game for Donte Greene.

I'm really big on Donte Greene. Before Sacto got Carl Landry last year they apparently had a lot of interest in Troy Murphy, for whatever reason, but wouldn't give much more than Kenny Thomas and a pick or something like that. We wanted Greene, they said eat a dick.

Player #2 will be Tyreke Evans.

http://dimemag.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/tyreke-evans-kings-480x285.jpg

Why: This is basically the second half of my Brandon Jennings post. Both players came into the league as lottery picks, and neither player disappointed their team or NBA fans. I watched both players a lot, I'm not even sure which player I watched more. Like I said about Milwaukee, the Kings were not a team I expected to watch too much in 09/10, but they ended up being a team that I checked for on a regular basis, and a lot of that was because of Tyreke (also Donte, who I mentioned in yesterday's post).

Tyreke isn't a bad athlete, but he's not crazy explosive either. He's not going to throw down a crazy dunk every night, or display blazing quickness when going to the rim. Tyreke is an interesting combination of size and skill. He's kind of like a mini-LeBron who stands 6'6 and plays the point. His jumper needs work at this point, but even though defenders sag and 'Reke favors his right hand heavily, people still can't stay between him and the basket. Once he gets into the paint it's difficult to stop him from scoring because of his great size and strength. Many people say Tyreke is an SG being forced to play PG, but I felt like he did a pretty nice job making plays and passing the ball in his rookie season.

One last thing... I really enjoyed watching Tyreke play in transition... he's pretty much unstoppable on his coast-to-coast takes.

http://www.ticketloot.com/blog/uploads/tevans.jpg

First time I saw him play: I'm pretty damn sure it was in some HS all-star game they held at Rucker Park. I clearly remember Lance Stephenson, DeMar DeRozan, and Jrue Holiday being there... I'm pretty sure Tyreke was involved as well. I don't recall thinking much of him back then, I didn't become intrigued until I saw him play against NBA competition. The first NBA game of his that I recall watching was the 6th game of his career where he had 32 points against the Jazz.

Favorite highlight(s): Does everyone still remember his bonkers reverse layup (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-mjcIfX3FFk) from the Rookie/Soph game? ...still not sure how he put that in. My favorite highlight play of his has to be the time he crossed up Kobe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cch6iu6SfE)... that was dirty. For more highlights, see my Tyreke Evans mix (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTQ_55aSfZ8).

Best/Favorite moment(s): For a rookie he had quite a few clutch shots. He had gamewinners vs. Denver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rD1IX13EiWY) and Milwaukee (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XEp3rDa3nU). He had a nice game-saving steal (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N29fcM4qdiM) vs. Gilbert Arenas. He also won the MVP (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2wd5TTldJE) of the Rookie/Soph game and the ROY award as he became just the 4th rookie in NBA history to average 20/5/5.

Best/Favorite game(s): I liked the one where he dropped his first triple double (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYwj_j3VCwI) on "Reke Roy Night" at Arco Arena... that was pretty cool. Other than that there was that game vs. the Jazz that I mentioned above, the game vs. Chicago where his Kings made a 35-point second half comeback, and the game where he dropped 28 vs. LeBron and the Cavs.

Player #1 will be Kevin Durant.

http://futureramblings.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/kevin_durant.jpg

Why: Before I get to explaining why I like to watch him play, let me just explain why I like him. KD is a hard worker who just seems to be a really cool, normal (aside from his insane ability on the ball court), down to earth dude. I hear stories about how he wants to make his sneakers affordable, how he has these insane training sessions early in the morning, and how he plays video games with kids who knock on his door... that type of stuff just makes it impossible for me to like this young baller with this crazy potential.

I watched KD early on in his rookie season, and I thought he had a chance to be a really good player. Back in those days a lot of people were dogging him over the amount of shots he was putting up, but I thought he was developing nicely. Still, I didn't know he'd be this good this fast. This dude just became the youngest player ever to lead the league in scoring. I'd be lying if I told you I saw that coming. Watching KD reap the rewards of his hard work has been a lot of fun. Watching his team improve immensely has been fun as well. When KD entered the league, the Sonics were a terrible team. Now, through just three seasons and one city change, the Thunder have become a playoff squad in the West.

In addition to all of that, I am fascinated by KD because he makes scoring look so easy. His offensive game is very fluid, he's just got a nice flow... when he gets in a rhythm, watch out. He can drive and dunk, play the mid-range game, pull-up for a deep three, whatever... he can do it all. He's also shown some killer instinct early on, he's got no problems with being the man or taking the big shot.

To sum everything up, KD oozes talent, he wants to be great, he seems to be a good guy, he's a passionate player, and he works very hard. I like it.

http://ballersfb.nike.com/basketball_content/nba/players/profile/kevin_durant.jpg

First time I saw him play: I saw Kevin Durant play at least once in college. The first time I saw him play was late in the college season, I think it may have been in the tournament. He had like 30-something points, his hype was growing with every shot he made... it was pretty interesting for a college game.

Favorite highlight(s): Crossing and slamming on the Rockets (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G0O9SIFHgr0). Dunking viciously on Rasho Nesterovic (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N8230nkuMsg). Top 10 plays video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dClHbrc58ZE). Last but not least, the one shoe block (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=copUoW4VcKU).

Best/Favorite moment(s): I remember watching him knock down this game winner (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5VDuQOxVUk) vs. ATL as a rookie. I watched many of his 29 consecutive 25+ point games, that was pretty awesome. I watched the game the streak ended too, I remember being rather disappointed... I know that's not really a moment btw, but it's not a game either, so I'm putting it here.

Best/Favorite game(s): I can't find a video of this game, but I recall watching him score 47 points in a loss to the Hornets. KD was ridiculous, hitting clutch shots all over the place, but CP ended up hitting a game winner. I didn't see it, but he had 46 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXAejRayUKQ) vs. the Clippers once. I did see him drop 45 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=46rJSL6D-P4) on the Spurs. Most of us saw him drop 29/19 on LA in the playoffs. He's had lots of good games, I'm sure I'm forgetting many of them.

I like it.
