What gets you guys out of bed and ready for the day before you have work, school, or someplace else to be? Exercise, breakfast, or just a bunch of caffeine? Are you the early-to-rise or the roll out of bed and go type?

I'm the worst morning person ever. It takes me hours to get going, to the point where I can't stand waking up after the sun has risen anymore. Until I started running 3-4 miles in the morning, it used to be noon or later until my mind could function at normal capacity. There's something comforting about going for run just before the sun pops up.

Then of course there's the standard e-mail/website catchup routine, but after wasting a few minutes on that I try to get my mind going by reading a couple of news articles in Spanish (trying to increase proficiency), before I go and do the normal fix breakfast and tea/coffee routine. After that, it's listen to a new or recent album I've been liking, and then out the door.

This is probably boring to the younger posters, but I'm starting to like having steady habits since I graduated college.

So to extend a little bit I guess, is there a part of your daily routine that you just CAN'T miss or you feel like your day was not complete?

hmm...

- i can get going pretty fast, but i still need tea/coffee in the morning. i usually do tea, splash of creamer, 2 fake sugars.
- while the kettle is boiling, i'll check up on my cat. i'll usually feed her. if the bird bath is super dirty, i'll spray it out and reload it. i just do those two things cuz i hate doing nothing while the kettle is boiling
- unload dishwasher if it needs it
- then the internet while i drink tea. check email, youtube, music sites, sports sites, torrent sites...this usually takes 25-50 minutes. part leisure, yep. some days i'll have a bowl of cereal. usually i'll just wait for lunch. :/
- go to work or do something else constructive

this changes depending on the day (sundays i'll clean the bathroom while listening to music). good topic, i like having a schedule but you gotta change it up here and there so you don't get bored.

Usually get up and boil the kettle, get changed while it's boiling then make my coffee and check my sites while drinking my coffee til i have to go. Pretty simple but has become routine over a few years now...

The first thing I do when I wake up is brush my teeth.
Then I eat breakfast, take a shower, brush my teeth again.....that's about it.

Why is that?
Perhaps he is referring to the cholesterol?

In the morning I:
-Wake up to horrible sounding alarm
-Cook breakfast (alternate days between giant pancake and scrambled eggs - mostly egg whites - and french toast)
-Watch Saved by the Bell while I eat
-Floss
-Brush Teeth
-Shave
-Put head under faucet to mat down hair
-Dress
-Place gum, phone, ipod, and pen in pocket
-Pack Lunch of apple, yogurt and bagel with cream cheese
-Put on shoes
-Enter '99 Taurus (forest green)
-Ponder replacing Clean Cotton air freshner with Beach Walk
-Connect ipod to tape cassette adaptor
-Drive to work

The only variable that's really changed over time is the morning TV. It used to be Sportscenter every morning since '92. However, last year I switched over to basic cable (i.e. local channels, two evangelical networks, three CSPANs, TBS and a grainy CMT) so my morning choices are a little more limited than they used to be. I settle for reciting every line from whatever Saved by the Bell episode I'm watching for the 51st or 52nd time.

Also, so everyone can rest easy, I thought I should note that I shower the night before. Nothing really happens to me overnight to warrant showering again come morning.

I start work at 5am! pretty much have gotten used to waking up really early though. Been at this job for 3 years now.

alarm at 4:01 then snooze either 2 or 3 times (normally 2)
so 4:20 out of bed and straight to the shower. (maybe to the fridge first to swig apple or orange juice)
No tv, no breakfast, just getting ready and then out the door at 4:50
(the whole process takes 30 mins)
I used to have a cigarette right away and then 1 on the way to work but I quit 209 days ago (7months!!)
I couldn't imagine my morning routine without smoking a cigarette but now it is a reality and I don't even think about it anymore.

usually don't even eat anything until 9am when the roach coach lunch truck comes outside of my work. (normally asada tacos, bean/cheese/rice burrito, or a chili-dog at 9am) (already been up for 5 hours, it is my lunch)

Make coffee, shower, shave, brush, floss, get dressed.
Chill for a while, read the paper.
Drink travel mug of coffee on the way to work.

I like to give myself at least an hour and a half of time from when i wake up til i have to leave for work.

I roll out of bed, hop in the shower, head to the couch and watch Mike & Mike while eating breakfast. Take my dog out for a little walk. Watch some more Mike & Mike. Then when it's about 15 mins before I have to leave, I get dressed and brush teeth, deodorant, etc.

When I was in high school, I'd wake up 30 minutes before I had to leave. I'd just rush through everything. But now I like being able to chill in the morning and take my time, even if it means waking up at 5:30

7:00-Roll out of bed unwillingly.

7:10 Wake up from floor unwillingly.

7:15 Brush teeth.

7:20 Make a breakfast of finest Toasts and Peanut Butter. And milk. Aswell as fixing a coffee.

7:30 Hop in truck and off to work.

I usually shower after work cuz I get filthy. And I prefer to shave then, but I go a couple days before that happens.

5:30 Get back to farm and do my chores, until supper.

7:30 Eat supper. I prefer to eat later, And I get to bed pretty late so no problem.

Depending on the time of year my chores may go way later. After 7:30 it is either watch basketball, work on car or truck, or ISH it up.

I get out the door very quick in the mornings but I feel like shit usually.

I go for a run, or to the gym everyday. So I don't think it would be that big a problem.

My blood pressure and cholesterol have been fine whenever I get checked out at the doc.

It's more of a problem as you get older. I mainly eat egg whites now, there pure protein no cholesterol or fat. I enjoy them.

Then I have a thick fruit smoothie, which I eat with a spoon. It feels great to get that vita C boost in the morning.

I love eggs and I came about the cholesterol revelation during a health class I took in college. The teacher suggested using just one egg yolk and the rest egg whites. I don't know why she suggested using just one (why any at all?) but for some reason that's what I've done ever since. One full egg a day, four whites.

Wake up at 6:30, peform the three "s" activities, get caffenated up, usually eat toast/eggs/piece of fruit, converse with my family, check email/ish, etc and go.

Sometimes, I hate the routine, but I have spent good portions of life without one, and that gets old real quick. I like having a sense of purpose as opposed to being aimless.

A good portion of the protein is in the yolk, + a lot of nutrients. I was doing the one yolk thing for awhile, but just eat the whites now.

Wake up to my favorite song @6:15
Relax for 10 seconds and come to an equilibrium before getting up
Go upstairs, turn the shower on and put toothpaste on my brush, throw off my bottom sit on the porceline and take off my shirt. 4 minutes later the waters warm enough so i clean up pick up the toothbrush and walk in. I start brushing while soaking myself. Once i finish brushing i lean over and put my brush away in my caddy and lather my hair with shampoo and i walk away from the water flow. I start to lather soap all over my body while the shampoo does its thing. then i rinse everything and repeat both hair and body wash. Then i dry off in the shower and step out and lotion up. Put on deodorant and cologne then my clothes and then a bit more cologne and do my hair.

6:45ishI then go downstairs put some bread in the toaster and boil some water in the kettle as i put socks on and tie my shoes. I have some tea and bread with butter in the morning and put on my headphones to some soft rock and start my walk to the tram. 7ish

7:45 i get to work and look at my schedule and prepare.

Wake up at 8:02 am.
Shower, get dressed until 8:14
Leave house at 8:20
At work before 8:30, eat breakfast at work

This morning I made pancakes at work, very laid back office.

My alarm actually goes off at 7:50 am, but I always snooze it once which is a 12 minute snooze. Then it goes off again at 8:14 am letting me know to get moving.

By doing prayer five times a day, with each prayer having several prostrations in it, a person will undoubtedly feel more peace, happiness, and relaxation. This type of approach does not cost money and does not have any side effects. It is very natural. This is the best method for allowing a person to continue to live in peace, harmony, obedience, and happiness for the rest of his/her life.

Start the day off slowly, try to get some studying in between seeing patients

I have a morning ritual that I need to share. I call it "the terminator". First I crouch down in the shower in the classic "naked terminator traveling through time" pose. With my eyes closed I crouch there for a minute, visualizing either Arnold or the guy from the second movie (not the chick in the third one because that one sucked) and I start to hum the terminator theme. Then I slowly rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me to proceed through my day as an emotionless, cyborg badass. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It ruins the fantasy.

There is no routine. Each morning it's a series of choices that determines where this meaningless body's future. Every minute details matter. Whether I jump straight up or decided to watch the dust illuminated by the sunlight near my window for an hour before deciding to sleep in matters. So many choices in between that will take an infinite amount of alternate worlds to complete. There is another me in another dimensionally altered universe that is successful and ecstatic to wake up. Good for that me. Alas there is no joy for this me most mornings. Could be worse, could be broke and waking up in a dump somewhere, maggots eating at my naked self. Suppose I should be grateful for that, but then I'd be mocking yet another version of me occupying another time and space...somewhere. Who cares, why not, perhaps even I am mocked by myself. Back to the topic at hand, what is the most optimal morning for you? I find myself enjoying mornings at the farm. Greeted by the sun and breathing that fresh clean air. Sounds of animals and children playing from a distance, perhaps train whistle too. The owner was kind, bringing our breakfast to the room. It was toast and egg with sausage and a glass of milk that was in another creature just ten minutes earlier. Big tip are on his way. What an ideal morning. But why can't every morning be that way? I love mornings at the farm but the life there afterwards I did not enjoy. The opposite is truer living in the metro. If I can wake up at the farm whilst not staying for the rest of the day, now that would be something. What a hassle though. Our transport hasn't evolve in such a way that would make that practical. I long for the day I can, along with living an immortal life. Enjoying both mornings and the rest equally for as long as I chose. Hopefully the things that makes mornings great hasn't extinct by then. Maybe they will have the technology to bring it back artificially. But that wouldn't be the same, no...it would be if we believe it. See it's all just firing of neurons in the brain. We can trick ourselves to attain something real. Us with the breain of someone else would be someone else who becomes us. Even writing this, I feel such a rush. On one hand writing this and not submitting it, denying the world of genius tolodire material would be satisfying in an ironic way. But I can't, I'm not about that. Sharing is caring and we all can use a little more care, even from wordy strangers whose life is unlike ours.

- Set alarm for 5:30am
(Have emergency alarms for 5:35, 5:40, 5:45)
- Morning dump
- Drink large glass of water with organic squeezed lemon
- 5km run, no matter the weather
- Make organic smoothie consisting of spinach or kale, carrot juice, blueberries, strawberries, banana, kiwi, udos oil, vanilla protein powder
- Drink smoothie and cool off from run, read some news
- sh-sh-sh
- Brush teeth
- Get dressed
- Play with baby
- Pack lunch
- Grab a few CDs
- Drive to work, try to get in at 8:30am, but sometimes this can be more like 9:30am - depends on what's going on at home and whether I go to the gym/swim

Don't have a regular work schedule so i usually stay in bed, check and reply to my emails, drink a pot of coffee, take a dump and post on here until i'm properly awake, aye. Never been a good morning person really, and had insomnia troubles for ages simply because my head never seems ready to shut itself off (think my body clock is longer than the day, always get a second wind of energy like 14-15 hours after waking up).

7.00: Wake up
-Get my shit together, taking a piss, putting my clothes on
7.15: Logon to ISH

Very efficient.
FTFY.

Wake up at 8 am. Check phone and scores (if I miss games). Brush, eat breakfast, laze around for a bit, shower, and off to work.

Well I usually wake up with a crying scream, have some coffee, make some oatmeal with a large spoonful of whey protein and peanut butter. Then I usually pace around the house for about an hour, while practice debating with my cats that Wilts GOAT

If whether permits I go for a walk, possibly to the pond not far from me and appreciate how beautiful life is

Usually when I walk to the gym, between sets, then the walk home. If I can manage, during my evening shit too
