Kobe ignored his friend Jay-Z too in last year's 61 pt game against the Knicks. Kobe is just focused, not thinking about anything else.

Contrast that with Dwight Howard laughing and joking around with Boozer (while on the court), while his team was losing to the Celtics in the ECF.

I don't remember that. Not saying it didn't happen, just saying I didn't see it.

But you have to factor in that Kobe is a 31 year old (rapidly approaching 32) seasoned 14 year old veteran. He knows exactly what the hell he's doing.

Dwight's 24 and is still trying to figure it out. If you would've paid attention to him during game 4 and on, he didn't smile or joke one time, and he had his best games during that stretch.

Before they showed that on TV I was thinking about an interview in which Kobe said that sometimes he tries to get focus and completely ignores everyone, fans, etc. So I was thinking that Kobe looks happy today that he probably didn't do that today, and then they showed that clip.

Funny stuff, but...

It's obvious that Chris Rock could see how zoned Kobe was, and was playing to the camera. He played like he was telling some funny story, with the punchline being exactly what happened.

THIS.

Anyone who can't see that Chris Rock knew exactly what he was doing is pretty naive. He knew Kobe wasn't going to acknowledge him, thus creating a funny moment.

But of course Laker fans are gonna see this as "teh master kobe bryant being teh super special winwinwin!!!"

Really? What makes you so sure? Are you guys psychic now? Word from people at the game was that Kobe was acknowledging Rock a little before in the game and they happened to catch a moment when Kobe was focusing on the action on court. Kobe is focused, you'd have to be an idiot not to accept that at this point. This was a funny moment that illustrated that. You are not a psychic.

Don't need to by psychic, just reasonable perceptive. But if you want a few clues for the next time:

http://i45.tinypic.com/2j5dmbs.jpg

Goes like this...

1. Camera tight, he waits till the light goes on
2. He starts his obvious "I'm acting like I'm saying something" shtick, but is clearly saying nothing. Looks at the camera in the middle of it.
3. He quits and smiles
4. THEN the camera pans back to show Kobe - PUNCHLINE!

A setup.

As for the camera comment, I'm guessing the person on his knees holding the big camera with the red light turning on was a key. Guess the nonstop pimping of their movie also had nothing to do with it.

Laugh at me?
You're the one implying he knew he was on camera so orchestrated that moment specifically for that purpose. It's a basketball game. The Camera is not going to be on him the entire time, or the LA bench for that matter. So unless he knew he was on camera at that particular moment how the heck would he know when to set up the gag?

A camera person was on one knee about ten feet from him, with a huge camera on his shoulder pointed at him. "On" light is triggered. I'm sure he's fairly familiar with it all...
