I know there's a video game forum but i'm just looking for a quick answer here. I just went to play 2k10 and after i ran the mandatory system update I got this message on the PS3. It wouldn't start the game up at all the first time. So i turn the system off and try again and this time it'll start the game but freezes as soon as it starts. When i go to quit the game things stay frozen and it won't let me quit or turn the system off.

I looked online on some game forums and this has happened to a lot of people but there's really no universal solution i've seen. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what you did, or if i have to actually send my system back. (note: ive had it since launch but some of the people saying it happened said they got it months ago)

This $hit was over $500 there's no way it should be messin up this soon...

You still under warranty amigo?

Try reformatting. If that doesn't work, you'll have to send it to Sony.

firmware is software that pretty much runs your computer. updates usually fixes bugs enhances performances, etc etc. a recent ps3 update took away some functionality though and was also a bit buggy and messed up some folk's machine.

I guess I'll just call sony tomorrow and see if i can send it back to get it fixed. Like i said tho it just sucks that its such a hassle for somethin that was THAT expensive to begin with

Sony's software has never been up to par with it's hardware

So after 20 minutes on the phone with Sony's tech support they finally told me that i just gotta send the system in to get it repaired, which will cost me f*ckin $155. Now i'm debating whether or not i should just buy a whole new system instead if it's gonna be that much to MAYBE fix a 2 year old one...

yea my bro's ps3 did the same. i swung over his house to to kill some guys on 2k but the ish froze up as soon as i hit start on the Kobe "press start" screen

then i put in Madden to see if it worked and it did, so i assumed it was something wrong with the 2k disk. i guess no more 2k for us now =(

is it even important to update your ps3? i don't have mine connected to the internet. did you try putting other games into the system or does the same thing happen?

I'm well aware of that as there's a large community willing to share that information. I'm glad there aren't a whole bunch of PS3 guys who can tell me what the customer service experience is like. I've never had to call them myself.
