View Full Version : Wow.... did anybody see Garnett and Rondo going at each other??

TheTruth11

Garnett appeared to be joking with Rondo and Rondo got mad and slapped his hand away. Then Garnett kept poking at Rondo and Rondo kept slapping his hand away and exchanging words with him..... and they kept going back and forth just like 2 kids bickering.

My interpretation: Rondo takes himself too seriously. The guy needs to lighten up. Garnett is a prankster and jokes around like that. Rondo needs to roll with it just like his teammates do.

Anybody else see this?

Yes... very uncomfortable to watch. I don't know what to make of it.

adrenaline makes you do things you normally wouldn't. With that being said, Rondo is always serious. I've seen him crack a smile maybe twice

I know exactly what kind of cat Rondo is. He was that one skinny black dude in elementary school who wasn't exactly part of the "in" crowd, or "popular" crowd as a kid, but he wasn't exactly a nerd that was picked on. People probably tested him because he seemed like a quiet reserved guy, but once they saw he would stand up for himself, and is not like the kid next to him that you could pick on, they left him alone.

Dude ain't completely right in the head. He reminds me of Nick and Nate Diaz of MMA fame, just a chip on their shoulders, and that chip needs to be knocked the **** off their shoulders.

E.G. yeah, stop taking yourself so damn serious, ol' mushroom head ass n1gga.

Garnett is the one you should criticise.
Rondo is an intelligent young man who isn't for all the fake rah-rah bullsh!t that Garnett still lives for.

The game was won at that time. I don't understand why Rondo took offense. I agree with you, the whole thing was very strange to watch.

I think you are on to something here. Dude just needs to chill. What KG was doing was not offensive at all. 10 out of 10 dudes would have had fun with it and just rolled with it. Everyone except Rondo

Like the person who posted the youtube clip said: KG was talking to Rondo about the elbow he just gave Gasol (Gasol/Rondo got into a little exchange before the timeout), telling him to keep his cool. Not the best approach though.

Did anyone see KG clapping at Odom while guarding him during the 3rd, baiting him to take the shot? Classic KG

Intelligence has nothing to do with it. We have all played ball with guys who are intelligent and guys who are idiots. But one thing they all have in common: they know how important it is to maintain team chemistry if you are going to play a team sport.

No man is above the team. And if you are going to play a team sport, it is inevitable that you are going have to do the "rah rah" thing from time to time. The truly intelligent know that you just roll with it and move on.

Creating a fight over something so petty serves no good purpose... certainly not the team.

I disagree, if I'm in a importent game and I'm focusing on the game, I would get extremly annoyed if someone started to pick my nose or some sh!t. Like Van Gundy said, there is a place and time for everything, that was not one of them.

I just read an article earlier this week about how all the celtics say rondo is the most arrogant player on the team. They said they love him and all but he thinks he is the king of everything.

not really a big deal. hell, it was a half compliment. rondo is hard headed and his teammates butt heads at times, but in the end, they respect each other.

Yea I saw that, it worked. He got Odom to take the shot and he missed it. Garnett proceeded to run the floor and got ahead of everyone, caught the pass and banked it in.

Garnett was huge in that stretch of 2-3 possessions. Not only did he cut the deficit and help the Celtics finally get a lead, he also got the crowd involved and shifted the momentum in the Celtics' favor. The bench unit picked up where he left off, and the rest is history.

Thanks for posting that, this thread is a joke. No wonder I always see posts about ISH containing so many morons. That was nothing.

If someone originally never saw the clip (me) then were to read this thread, you'd think it was some serious sh!t going on, then you watch the video.. oh brother.

i guess you guys are professional psychoanalysts after watching a couple seconds of rondo and garnett. it's the finals in the fourth quarter so of course rondo is not gonna start messin around, i wouldn't either. and i would be a more worried of kg's mind state then rondo's.

True. I do like the idea of Garnett being the silly, unintense one in really any situation. Rondo's talented as hell, but he seems like a bit of a dick.

They were not playing. You have to see the whole thing. If you catch only the first part of it you would be right to think that they were playing.... because they were. It started off as play. Then it clearly turned serious.

I don't think anyone is saying the so called "fight" was a major deal. But what it showed is how Rondo took playful conversation and quickly turned it on a dime into something serious by not just chillin and rolling with it. Which then ticked Garnett off and caused him to further instigate the situation.

Garnett probably was thinking, "this arrogant little punk, just for that, I am going to show you". Not Garnett's most mature moment but still, something that didn't have to happen at all if Rondo doesn't take himself so seriously.

And for it all to happen among teammates on national tv is not something you typically see.
