Kobe Bryant #8 signed. Just taking a glance at other signed balls on the site I see a Rondo ball going for $200, John Wooden ball for $600, a Larry Bird ball for $395...hell there's a ball signed by Barkley/Jordan/Bird/Magic going for $1,500. Some rich guy my mom started dating when I was 13 got it for me to buy my friendship but didn't know a damn thing about basketball. He had heard of some guy named "Kobe Bryant" on the news and knew I liked basketball so he got me this.

How much do you think I could get for it?

I thought of waiting until he entered the HOF, but I think I need the money now more than I will then. Just seeing what the interest would be.

I'd pay $500 for it.

You can get a good amount of dough for that... I'd definitely wait to see if the Lakers win the championship (and Kobe another Finals MVP) before putting it up for bid though... Might be worth just that much more you know.

If you're going to sell it, wait to see if the Lakers win the finals. If they do, put that sh!t up on Ebay the day after they win.

I'd definitely keep it until Kobe retires

by the way does the value decrease in any way the fact that the ball is a composite leather and not an official game ball?

Nope. I never cared because I was never a Kobe fan. It's been sitting in the bottom of my closet for years.

Sports memorabilia doesn't mean anything to me. It'd be cool to take a pic with an athlete I liked but that's about it. I don't get what's so good about a signature...but I get what's good about $$$.

I wouldn't worry about anyones opinion here, if its fake or real. Just verify the CoA, thats where it's at. if the CoA is BS, then you have your answer. I have plenty of AGs with variations. When a mob crowds a player, they don't always sign the item the same, as if they were sitting at a table.

BTW.
First name + Number is worth less than full signature + number.
Early signature could be worth more, depending on CoA credibility.

For the guy who asked about getting the CoA....
You can go to a card/sports mem shop and see if they do verifications. Dont let the shop do the verification and give you a bum CoA, unless its a credible shop with a serial# system and hologram certificates. Let them send it out, and insure it through the shop. For a basketball, its about $23 for a legit CoA through Mail-In services. Cards are about $8 8x12s are $11, jerseys are 15ish, ect ect. If you have a photo of the player signing the ball, that helps prove the sig, and can be combined with the CoA to add value.

I used to do that to my friends all the time

I would find an image of lets say Lebron on the internet, with an autograph all ready on it. Then I would print it out and just take a sharpie and copy the signature thats all ready there

Most players don't use the same autographs on memorabilia as their regular autographs. Also, putting your autographs on a surface like that of a basketball is a bit tricky.
