Why and when did converse fall out of favors with basketball players. Back in the 60s all the NBA players wore it. And growing up I feel like in middle school every kid wore it then all the sudden at the high school and college level, all the players are wearing those fancy shoes. So why is Converse high tops no longer the basketball shoe of choice?
I still wear it when I ball.

I'm currently reading Maravich, Pete Maravich's biography and I read something about how, when he was playing, everyone was wearing Chucks, but he didn't like the feel of the sole on his feet, so he switched to an Adidas shoe. At the time he was one of only few players to wear this shoe, whilst everyone else was still wearing the Chucks.

The world of marketing my friend.
Nike has monopolized this industry. They even own the rights to Converse. Converse has been limited to a lifestyles line leaving more room for Nike to take over the basketball industry.

chucks don't give you any ankle support whatsoever.

are the stories mostly basketball centric or more about his life?
Wow I didn't realize that Nike bought out Converse. Damn, I been notice the quality of chucks slipping lately. I hate nike products, they have such sh!ty business ethics.
I would never wear a pair of Jordans, rather go barefoot.

DOn't like the way Nike abuses their workers in Honduras.:confusedshrug:
Also quality of Jordans have dropped alot for anyone who had them in the 90s would know. But nothing against MJ. He's my 2nd fave player of all time.

So far, they're intertwined and you get to hear about both. I've just finished reading about his LSU career and will start on his NBA career sometime this afternoon, when I have chance to read (F1 british gp is on and so is the world cup final).

bingo.
also, i have much respect for all those old school players who wore those shitty Chucks all those years, game after game. they're like wearing cardboard strapped to your feet.

I only read the first chapter of the NBA part of the book and it's interesting to see the treatment he got and the feelings his teammates had towards him.
