Positional sense and anticipation is an important quality in a striker, it is two things that Rooney doesn't have, instead of spending the whole game up top to pounce on chances, Rooney is fond of running all over the field playing right back and left back for no reason, so that when his team gets the ball back they have no target man up top to break because Rooney keeps getting out of position
