Mozgov has been rated DraftExpress' #1 International Free Agent prospect for the past two years. Big, strong athletic center w/nice upside.

Mozgov can play guys. He's a big body and super athletic guy who rebounds, block shots and finishes really well around the rim.

Before the jokes come in, anyone that saw Eurobasket last year knows that Mozgov has a ton of game. He was the go to guy on the Russian NT and dominated a lot of opposing big men.

He's a big body with pretty impressive athleticism for a guy his size. He played on the second best team in Russia and was an important piece. I don't know if D'Antoni will play him, but 3 years/10 mil is a good deal.

The Knicks obviously paid DX to LIE about Mozgov being ranked #1.

What a freaking joke that site is. He's NEVER been ranked #1.

The #1 for the last 2 years was Ioannis Bourousis.

You NBA only fans are such incredible racists and xenophobes. "Hope he can hang in the NBA". Mozgov is bigger and stronger than just about ever center in the NBA except Shaq and Yao. Probably the only center in the NBA that is more athletic than him is Howard.

Plus he's very physical. "Hope he can hang in the NBA". LMFAO.........

The NBA is extremely SOFT compared to the Euroleague. Euroleague play is way more physical and way more intense than the NBA is. At what point are you NBA only fans going to learn some damn things about basketball? Seriously, it's getting embarrassing.

Lakas Fan Yo
07-11-2010, 04:18 AM
He's number 2.........

Exactly. He's never been ranked #1 either. Just another in the endless list of lies from Dx and that idiot Givony. That guy lies so much on his website it's literally unbelievable.

The guy lies about scouting players in person when he has NEVER even watched them. He lies about going to watch guys play in Europe when he is in another country. He lies endlessly about the athleticism of players.

Purposely calling some of the most athletic players "guy without any athletic ability". Makes up so much absurd crap.

And his overseas free agent ranking and his NBA rights held ranking is an absolute joke of epic proportions. If you ask him why his rankings are such a joke he makes some of the most ridiculous excuses you could ever imagine.

"It's not how good the players are, it's how likely they are to play in the NBA. It has nothing to do with actually how good they are or how talented they are."

His insane crap on Ricky Rubio is just so ridiculous it literally boggles the mind. "Next Maravich", "next Nash"........ The guy is an absolute joke and a hack and the extremely sad thing is that every American NBA fan actually believes that idiot knows what he is talking about on European players. Literally pathetic.

The NBA is very very very weak compared to the Euroleague at the center position. Going from the Euroleague to the NBA for a center is quite a big step down in competition.

He will be playing against much weaker competition in the NBA.

He has no real basketball skills in one to one offense. Pretty raw offensively overall. No real touch or shot. No real post moves. Not really a face up player either. Not very good at shooting free throws.

He does not have much experience at the top level. One time I think in Russia's senior national team at EuroBasket and one year in the Euroleague with Khimki where he was the backup center behind Robertas Javtokas and did not play that much.

On the other hand, extremely physical. Very athletic (for NBA or anywhere else). Very strong and big. A physical beast and a dunking machine. Plays the game with real aggression and just attacks the rim.

Dude is strong as hell and has real athletic ability and throws down anything near the rim. Crashes the boards, blocks shots. You can't really back this guy down at all in the post.

Runs the floor really well for a guy that size. Soft hands, coordinated. Moves well without the ball. Can finish off the pick and roll going to the basket. Will finish lobs with authority.

Decent defender both one to one and team wise. Solid rebounder. Pretty good shot blocker.

He was probably a top 10 center in Europe at the current time. Although that is debatable.

Very few American players at his size have ever had his physical athletic abilities. VERY few.

Euroleague has much better centers than the NBA. PERIOD. NBA centers are absolutely pathetic on average. Just a handful of decent centers in the NBA and the rest are trash.

Europe is loaded with excellent centers.

The Knicks jokes they have had at center in recent years would be cut from any decent Euroleague team.

Sounds like this guy fits exactly what the Knicks need, hopefully he'll make an impact.

Considering the Knicks didn't get Wade or James they've done a pretty good job this off season gathering a team that can compete while still remaining cap flexible the next 2 years.

D'Antoni finally has a roster with players that fit the way he wants to play, should be fun to watch next year.

Several of the best centers/PFs in Europe have signed over here in the last few years and that's a fact. Undisputable.

- Tiago Splitter
- Luis Scola
- Marc Gasol
- Nikola Pekovic
- Timofey Mozgov
- David Andersen

And guys, ignore Lakas. He's the same idiot who had Mozgov as one of his top 10 players in Europe and ranked ahead of Bourousis. He's just a troll who has a disturbing amount of free time and does this on about 12 other message boards under various aliases and gimmicks apparently. :oldlol:

1. Vasilios Spanoulis
2. Nikola Pekovic
3. Ramunas Siskauskas
4. Dimitrios Diamantidis
5. Sarunas Jasikevicius
6. Erazem Lorbek
7. Milos Teodosic
8. Juan Carlos Navarro
9. Theo Papaloukas
10. Timofey Mozgov

Some others to consider for the top 10:

Viktor Khryapa
Zoran Planinic
Boki Nachbar
Ioannis Bourousis
Sofoklis Schortsanitis

I don't think Rubio is with these types of players yet. Give him a couple years more time.

The Suns in the past under D'antoni had Steven Hunter come in and give them very solid minutes blocking shots, rebounding and running floor. Sounds lke this guy can play a similar role. I would have REALLY liked the Knicks off season if they would've managed to acquire Caldron who to me has a skill set that'd fir D'Antoni's style to a tee

Sounds like this guy is basically Greg Oden.

He'll dunk the shit out of the ball.
Get great position in the post with his strength and do nothing with it because he has no offensive game.
Block & rebound like a monster

But he's Euro and from Russia which means I must see it before I believe it especially since I'm from Portland and we've seen a couple of highly hyped Russian kids flop here.

@alanhahn (http://twitter.com/alanhahn) Mozgov has a 2.4 mil. buyout so that was part of it. He made close to that in gross money. Boston offered similar money last year.

He has a 2.4 million buyout. So if he's a complete bust, they buy him out next summer. And that counts $1.2 million on cap for next two years. Probably not a bad gamble then.

I already said he has no offensive skills other than attacking the basket and finishing. But he does move well off the ball.

Actually Oden is a fairly good comparison actually. That is Greg Oden before the knee problems, minus the hook shot that Oden has. Not as skilled as Oden but pretty close in terms of physicality and athleticism to Oden prior to his knee problems.

Also like Oden very inconsistent. However, Mozgov has not had any injury problems that I know of. Like I said, probably a top 10 center in Europe although that is debatable. Anyone in that level at such a stacked position as that is in Europe is easily good enough to play in the NBA.

Many centers from Europe much worse than him have played in the NBA and been starters.

This Russian guy should be good in our system. Can run the floor, has good hands and is athletic for us size. He should give us a legit 7 footer to guard the traditional centers that have killed the Knicks last season (Andrew Bogut and Marc Gasol come to mind.)

Anyways I wanted to say that Donnie Walsh has done a great job assembling this team. Obviously not getting Lebron was a letdown but it appears that the Knicks really had no chance to begin with. Knicks have no excuses of not making the playoffs, and the Knicks could still potentially sign a max player next year.

PG: Raymond Felton/Tony Douglas
SG: Wilson Chandler/Buke
SF: Danilo Gallinari
PF: Amare Stoudamire/Anthony Randolph
C: Ronny Turiaf (20 mins or so)/ The Russian Guy

This is a deep team 1-5.

Amare will play alot of time at center, but I think Turiaf will start the game. Turiaf get 15-20 minutes, and then Amare will share the rest of the mins with the Russian dude at center.

Chandler is a traditional 3, but he played the 2-4 positions for the Knicks last years.

I'm down for moving J.R .Doesn't really play defense, looks to shoot the 3 too much, Has a scary low basketball IQ and can make plays where you just sit there and shake your head. He's pretty inconsistent but can win a few games for you when he goes off.

Probably be a really good fit in New York. Wouldn't surprise me to see him put up 18-20 points a game.

Doubt New York\Denver would talk trades for J.R tho.

Probably not. After a game in the playoffs J.R tweeted something like "You can't win by yourself" or something along the lines of that about Melo. J.R would probably not effect his choice where he'd play at all.

As for that trade. I'd probably do J.R for Ronny straight up. But I'm really low on J.R at the moment so my opinion on that trade wouldn't matter much.

Like I said any trades involving J.R my opinion will be shit :oldlol: . I'm just sick of waiting for him to mature and really break out year after year. Loads of potential but he'll always end up being a scorer off the bench on a winning team. Add in he's hard to coach and always fighting with our current coach and it's not worth it IMO anymore.

Use to be a fan, not really anymore.
