Compton has better weather.

The City of Compton and The Borough of Brooklyn both have some very nice high rent areas.

Living in either would be more than comfortable.

The danger of compton is pretty overrated. Parts of downtown are probably more dangerous than compton, particularly in the bordering areas. It's all pretty dispersed so you don't have everyone living on top of each other like in Brooklyn. Although I imagine Brooklyn is more fun. Compton really is just church, liquor store, gun store, churches chicken, 99cent store. I live about 15 minutes from compton and I drive through on occasion and it's not that different than the surrounding areas.

compton in 2010 is not the "straight outta compton" of 1988. its a pretty decent area now.

and brooklyn, wtf? i think the OP is living in the 80's or somethin. compton and brooklyn are both >>>>>>>> 75% of any other places to live in america.

I agree with California over New York just straight up in general.

all day. would choose L.A. every time.

I'm sure it's fun there in NY and all that. I do plan do visit someday.
Of course.
But to live there just is not appealing to me at all. AT ALL.
I know the weather is nasty, can't stand the Yankees.
Can't stand the East Coast, it is so wack to me.
also too close to Boston . . man my skin would be crawling.

I will never even consider living on the East Coast.

How many people here actually from BK?

I'm from Compton, and just like most cities.... it has its bad neighborhoods and its decent ones, but it aint a stroll in the park.

Having said that.... I'm sure there's more stuff to do in BK.

while I agree that Compton is located close to beaches, clubs, etc. etc. they're not 'in' Compton itself. You gotta leave Compton to go anywhere decent, and you gotta do it on a car.

Whereas in BK, one can just hop on a cab or train, or even walk to their destination.

We do have better weather, but we also have more crime (I'm assuming).

Probably, but Detroit winters have killed most of my soul at least. :oldlol:

If all things were equal, I'd avoid sub-40 degree temperatures and snow and having to wear 8 layers to go outside completely.

However, I'm certain Brooklyn and Compton are both infinitely better than Detroit. :oldlol:

that's racist. :lol j/k

but yeah been to both areas. brooklyn and compton. good thing about brooklyn is easy access to mass transportation so you don't have to worry about cars and parking during work days and easy access to manhattan. good thing about compton is near the beach and LA is pretty nice.

i would choose compton, because of 1 major factor. the brooklyn hipsters like the above hipster said. they scare me. :(

rent varies by cities. Sacramento is pretty damn cheap, you can get a 1 bedroom apartment for like 500-600 a month, compared to a 1 bdrm apartment in San Francisco, which would be 1800+ a month. not sure what la's prices are like.

how much is the average apartment cost to live in california or new york? Also, are there any cheap places to live in those states? really depends where in california. for example, when i lived in the bay area, i had to pay a little more than 1k for an old, beat up 1 bedroom apartment. when i moved to sactown, i got a newer, much nicer 3 bedroom apartment, also had a much bigger kitchen, living room etc for only ~600.

I still don't really understand this thread. I don't know what Compton is like, but do people really think Brooklyn as a whole is like East NY/Brownsville? In fact, 99% of NY isn't like that. It just so happens that I can just afford cheap places like that(my rent is 100 a weak), but let me tell you, a lot of Brooklyn is pretty safe and nice. Granted, there are still some bad areas in Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights.

Though, my advice is avoid East NY, unless you don't mind trying to fall asleep to the sound of gun shots, sirens and dogs barking. I live on Miller Ave. which can be a pretty crazy street at night. Actually, considering I'm skinny and white, it's a miracle I don't get ****ed with. :oldlol: In general, I'd say regardless of the area, if you're smart, aware and mind your own business, chances are you'll be fine.

I'm not as familiar with that part. I live in East NY obviously and use to live in Bed-Stuy and I hang out in Brownsville and sometimes, Flatbush(which isn't bad either), though East Flatbush(which is a seperate neighborhood) can be rough.
