Sessions and Hollins for West and Telfair

Good trade for the Wolves, it give them 2 pg :lol

As a Wolves fan, i'd rather keep Hollins, and acquiring West doesn't intrigue me at all.

Good for the Wolves. Clears up more playing time for Darko, and gives you two more guards at the same time.

reminds me of a joke by Dov Davidoff, talks about someone taking a knife to his bike seat and saying how pissed off and low someone must be to see a bike and say "look at this rich mother ****er with his ten speed"

How much must Kahn hate the Wolves to go out of his way to ruin them, because I refuse to believe he actually thinks these are good moves that he is making.

At least, Kahn cleared out salary cap space by getting Delonte's waiveable contract.

Bad trade for the Cavs.

They should keep their cap space open for next summer when they can pull a Miami and go after some A level free agents.

Delonte West: The exclamation point to his day came when the Cavaliers agreed to trade him to the Minnesota Timberwolves, along with point guard Sebastian Telfair, for guard Ramon Sessions, center Ryan Hollins and a second-round pick in 2013. The trade is pending league approval (http://www.morningjournal.com/articles/2010/07/26/sports/doc4c4e28a873c7b991736083.txt). It was only a matter of time before West was shipped to points unknown. The 6-3, 180-pounder dragged the Cavs through much drama during the 2009-10 season. He was arrested in September 2009 on six weapons charges, which included a loaded shotgun and an 8-inch machete. all i know is that he's fairly young, and put up some nice stats near the end of his run in Milwaukee.
He loves to draw contact and get to the free throw line. He doesn't have a good shot at all and he knows that. Because of his bad shot he hardly ever shoots jumps shots so he does have an OK percentage. He was a decent man defender here in Minny. He is also a very streaky shooter which will be frustrating at times.

As a Cavs fan, im happy with the trade. even though i didnt want us to, the entire Cavs fanbase knew that he was out the door. but, at least we got back a nice young PG for our uptempo offense, and a young Center that can actually run the floor and is very athletic (havent had one of those in a while lol). we also got a future pick (2013 second-rounder) in the deal.

it wasnt a "blockbuster", but imo it was a good deal on our part.

I like this trade. Delonte West had to be moved because of his personal problems, him being in/out of the lineup constantly because of his mental status was sort of annoying.

We got back a quality point guard and it would be awesome if he could play like he did in Milwaukee two years ago. And he's still only 24. And he's shown the ability to be a point guard/facilitator first, scorer second.

Then there's the second-round draft pick we got, which means now the Cavaliers have 7 first round picks, 8 second round picks over the next 5 years.

Jasper

I would hope that Mo Williams will backup Sessions , unfortunately unless they move Mo , Sessions is on the bench.

I think he is a pretty dynamic player , he likes to dish or finish in the lane ... and he plays bigger than he is.
Not super fast , but good speed , and has good handles as well as passes well.
When in Milwaukee his mid range jumper was suspect, and played average defense.

With all the time he spent on the bench last year in Minny - his jumper might of improved to the point , he might be a sleeper PG in the league right now.

He is definitely an up grade for the Cav's ....

The bltch : He's one of my fav players and now on the Cav's ... Am I supposed to root for them , or can I hurray for Ramon alone :confusedshrug:

The Timberwolves will waive guard Delonte West, who they acquired in a trade with the Cavaliers on Monday night, according to sources.

Marc J. Spears of Yahoo! Sports wrote the following on his Twitter page moments after the trade was officially completed.

Cleveland acquired Ramon Sessions, Ryan Hollins and a second round pick in 2013 from Minnesota in exchange for West and Sebastian Telfair.

http://twitter.com/SpearsNBAYahoo

Where will West end up? He got a bad rep now, but when he is 99%, he is overall a great ball player, on both sides of the court. I love to see him as a mav, but we got to many small guards.

Please. LeBron doesn't have that kind of pull. If West somehow got on Sterns bad side, then I could see something like that hurting him. I highly doubt that a "rumor that could have truth to it" is going to hurt Delonte West in the long run. The guy can ball...period. He'll get a deal somewhere.

The Wolves GM is an absolute nightmare for T-Wolves fans. Does this waive shock anyone? It's like he's trying to get rid of every decent player on the team to try and be the worst team in the NBA next year for more lottery balls. Sad thing is, he's dumped players he could have been building around (Jefferson).

I haven't seen Hollins play much, so its hard for me to really rate this trade. Sessions is solid and does fill a need for the Cavs.

Right now I'm mostly sad that we lost Delonte. He was a headcase, but I liked the guy, and he was a great bench player. Hope he gets the chance to continue playing somewhere, just don't want that somewhere to be Miami. We already lost Lebron and Z to them, I don't want Delonte to go there as well.

Sessions went to my school (Nevada) so I've seen him play a decent amount. He can run a team, but as people have noted, he's not a very good shooter. He can shoot decently from mid-range, but no 3 point range. But he is only 24 I believe so he has plenty of time to grow, and he had a 20 assist game in Milwaukee a couple years ago. He also averaged around 8 assists as a starter. Good pickup for Cleveland. West had to go, and now Minnesota essentially deals their top 2 free agent pickups from last off season for a buyout candidate and a 3rd PG. Wow Kahn...

Though Ryan Hollins did look lost out on the court at times, he was vital to the T'Wolves. He brought a toughness and swagger to that team.

I hope the Knicks pick up Delonte West. No guns though. Bloomberg doesn't play that here.

Kings are weak at the guard spot behind Evans and Beno. He would look nice on our team. to bad he will probably take less money and go to a contender. It could really help us as long as we dont have to over pay. CoMoN Sac. sign this guy.

And one of the kings owners was on the radio the other day and said they were waiting for teams to waive people to see if they can pick up a deal on a guard. dont see anything better out there right now.

Minny was stupid to let go of Hollins. I think he's got a bit of Tyson Chandler upside (only better) in him.

Minny will release BOTH Telfair and Wes
oh my god you are not serious are you?

id rather have hollins on the trade block than the low block.

i agree with MK that Minny is stupid to give up Ryan Hollins. they couldve had a MASSIVE frontline with Pech, Love, Ryan and Darko, but whatev :confusedshrug:

idk about Ryan being the next Tyson Chandler tho :lol

They already have enough big men IMO. They can also go small with beasley at the 4 and love at the 5.

Don't they also have Nathan Jawai?

or it couldve been the offense he was in. in Minny he was in the triangle offense. in our offense he'll be playing more uptempo and his athleticism could be used/showcased.

Minny also had a good amount of other bigs on their roster. Love-Beasley-Darko-Koufas-Pechorov

and fyi, being traded doesnt mean you dont have skill =P

We needed a point that could implement Scott's up-tempo offense, so I like the move. It is also of note that Sessions played well in his backup role with Mo in Milwaukee a few years ago.

I was hoping that we could get Mike Conley. He was my first choice as the guy to come in and run Scott's offense. But, Sessions is certainly a good enough consolation prize, especially considering what we gave up to get him.

West already had one foot out the door and Telfair had no role on this team.

I applaud the move. Good start for Grant in his first real move as GM.

You totally didn't mention Hollins, that's the true consolation prize. A big-man center that can actually run, which we haven't had in...wait, I can't remember.

You guys will be very pleased with Sessions, but do not get your hopes up for Hollins. I am trying not to come across as a hater but Hollins is incredibly annoying to watch him play. We played in a very up-tempo offense last year, which ideally, should of been geared towards Hollins strength. He is one of the dumbest/most clueless players i have ever seen on a basketball court. He gets lost on offense and can't remember defensive assignments to save his life or even rotate on defense very well. He has absolutely no post game and he will either try to pump fake the ball and shoot a jump shot or pass it right away. He also cannot rebound well at all, which is astounding for someone his size.

The upside to Hollins (if there is any) is that he is super athletic and will throw down highlight reel dunks with somewhat of a consistency. The only problem with this is that no matter how many points you are down by he will flail his arms and yell at the top of his lungs like his dunk brought the team back into the game.

To sum all this up, Hollins has never been even decent (even in college he wasn't any good) but teams will continue to give him chances thinking it will all suddenly click in his head due to his athleticism and dunking ability.

thank you, that sentence made my head hurt. Not only does Kahn not make bad trades, he ONLY trades bad players. He's perfect!

this ain't nba live. dont expect him to suddenly be mr 15-16/8-9. i know he's athletic, but he isn't going to do it on a game by game basis.

How do you get more up tempo then we were last year without being GSW? We played at the 3rd fastest pace in the league last year

The highlight dunks were great last year and it was funny as hell when they had him talk about his dunks during halftime because they had nothing else to talk about. They were trying to look at the bright side of all of the losing I guess.

"Hey, at least we have a guy who can dunk!"
