Lorenzen Wright, a center who last played for the Grizzlies, Hawks, Kings and Cavaliers, has been reported missing by his family.
Wright didn't play in the league last season after breaking his thumb and undergoing surgery in April of 2009. He was last seen on Sunday when he was getting ready to fly out of Memphis, and hasn't been heard from since.

Don't really know much about him... He always played on teams I didn't follow.

Hopefully 3 days from now he isn't found dead in the woods or something.

He looks a bit like James Posey. His face anyways...

That's pretty much all I know about Wright.

Hopefully, he's OK.

How can you not know Wright? He's been in the league for 12 years! Same draft as Nash, Kobe, AI, Camby etc.

I know the name, just not anything about him. Playing for the Clippers and the Grizzlies were not on my priority list, especially pre-highspeed internet.

Those guys you mentioned are superstars. Wright is not.

Wright would be more known in the league similar to guys like Perkins or Dampier if he played on contending teams. Role players who are on playoff contention teams.

Not sure if he ever made the playoffs, if he did probably just the 1st round.

Memphis 07/24/2010) "It's like the world just opened up and he fell in, " Deborah Marion is talking about her son, Lorenzen Wright.

The last time anyone in her family saw the, 6-11, former NBA player was Sunday night. Marion says Wright was at his ex-wife's home in Collierville between 10 and 11, when the ex woke up he was gone their cars still in the driveway.

"I can't pinpoint, no where he could be that I don't know where he is. No friends, we checked all his friends from here to Atlanta, Mississippi, everywhere so I don't have a clue" she said.

Marion says it is not like her son to not be in contact with his family.

They filed a missing persons report with the Collierville Police Department.

Officials tell us they do not suspect foul play and have told Marion there has been no strange activity to his bank account or credit cards.

"Everybody has been calling and his phone goes straight to voicemail. It rings four times and goes straight to voicemail."

Marion says Wright's six kids are taking the disappearance really hard, especially his 13-year old daughter, who she says would talk to her father everyday, "The 13-year old is taking it worse than anybody. He always calls her and he always answers her calls and she doesn't understand why he's not calling, why he isn't answering her calls."

Now, Wright's mother says she needs your support to help her find her son who was once a Memphis fan favorite.

"Just anything, that they've seen they can call the police and say we saw him at this place, anything."

If you have any information about Lorenzen Wright's whereabouts, call The Collierville Police Department at 901-853-3207.

Not looking good at all. If he was alive and vertical, the guy is 7 feet tall. He would be spotted very easily. Sadly, I don't think he's alive. I really hope I'm wrong, but a guy that keeps in contact with his family and suddenly, no one hears from him for a week never ends well.

Most adults who disappear, do so of their own volition and aren't necessarily found dead, so i wouldn't assume he's dead, doesn't sound like he has a history of mental illness or something. I know he's easy to find, but if you go somehwere most people don't know you, they might think WOW HE'S TALL but no one is calling the police. Hopefully a week from now he returns home embarassed that he couldn't face whatever bothered him and took off.

[QUOTE]Law enforcement officials have found the body of missing Memphis basketball star Lorenzen Wright in a wooded area at Hacks Cross and Winchester in southeast Memphis.

A law enforcement source confirmed the body was that of Wright, who has been missing since July 19, though the Memphis Police Department won't officially comment.

The body was found by someone who called police today.

Police sources confirmed earlier that they are investigating a 911 hangup call from Wright's cellphone left Monday morning.

Im so sad right now I just heard on ESPN news while play NBA Live 10 his body was found dead.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The uncle of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright says police told the family the athlete who had been missing for 10 days has been found dead.

Curtis Wright told The Associated Press that police called the player's father, Herb Wright, a couple of hours ago.

Police weren't commenting, but The Commercial Appeal cited a police source as identifying a body found in field in southeast Memphis as Wright's.

As police were at that scene, people flooded the area to watch.

The 34-year-old Wright was last seen July 18 when he was expected to fly out of town. His family filed a missing person report July 22.

Wright played 13 years in the NBA with five different teams.

Former NBA player Lorenzen Wright has reportedly been found dead in a wooded area in Southeast Memphis.

Memphis police are still investigating, but a report on myEyewitnessNews.com indicates that the body found "had been shot and it may be self inflicted." We haven't yet seen confirmation from authorities, but it appears that Wright's disappearance may have ended in the worst way imaginable. We'll continue to monitor this story for further updates.

So Wright was using his success to help out family members and prop up the careers of quasi-siblings down on their luck. He was happy to let fortunate friends share some scraps of his success. He let a boyhood friend serve as a business manager. Funny, no one wanted to make a half-hour HBO series about this arrangement.

On Wednesday, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reported that law enforcement officials found Wright's body in a wooded area in Memphis. Wright, who played his final NBA game in 2009, was last seen at a Memphis barbershop on July 19.

For whatever sordid details might or might not emerge in the coming days, it bears remembering that this was a guy saddled with pressures beyond basketball who went to great lengths looking after his family and friends.

Shot execution style. Unbelievable. I hope they find whoever did this. Killing someone is bad enough, but to shot someone a dozen times? Though I was never a fan of him, I respected him as a person. About 10 years ago, there was a story where he and three other players donated money to a boy in Memphis that lived with his mother's corpse for a month because he was afraid he'd go to an orphanage. It was in early November and for Thanksgiving, he made himself a frozen pizza. Heartbreaking story and I immediately gained respect for those involved.

You don't have to pay respect but its just expected seeing as you are part of the human race and we all have people that we love and we would hope that when we lose one of those people that other people are considerate enough to keep disrespectful coments to themselves if they have nothing productive or considerate to say.

R.I.P. Lorenzen Wright

He was probably my favorite role player of the 90's, he was always a class act on and off the court, I remember when his child died I was heart broken to read about it because he was such a classy guy and would do anything for anybody. I do not agree with suicide but if that is the way he went out I feel bad that it got to that point and he was not able to seek the help he needed, if he was murdered I am very upset to hear that someone would kill such a model human being. Usually I don't say all the nice stuff about people when they die even though its the popular thing to do but we truly lost a great teamate and a greater human being, I hope he has found some type of peace and he is reunited with his child if thats at all possible (not religous).

Wow, that is a nice gesture. I looked it up and found article. I have always heard of nice things from Wright, a shame it had to end this way.

Wright was a model citizen. Certainly wasn't the most skilled player, but he was quite selfless. This is terrible. I hate to point fingers, but the (ex?) wife should be questioned.

Oh no doubt. She was the last who saw him right? They will go to her first and to be honest, all this seems very fishy. I expect some shady things to be uncovered with all this with the ex involved.

Wright was one of the true good guys of the NBA.

He was never one to turn down a kind word or an autograph request. He'd always be the last to leave the games, making sure everyone who wanted it got a moment of his time.

His generosity off the court is well documented, and his loyalty as a friend never wavered.

The world lost a hell of a good guy.

May you be blessed in your afterlife as you blessed so many in your brief time here on Earth. May justice be swift for the person who did this to you.

God Bless you Lorenzen and Rest in Peace. You will be missed.

If it's true he was shot 12 times, that sounds like a crime of passion more so than an actual execution. You don't shoot someone a dozen times if you're a hired professional.

"Court documents show that Wright acknowledged to the FBI that in 2008 he sold two luxury vehicles, a Mercedes sedan and a Cadillac SUV, to Bobby Cole. The affidavits about the business deal don't show if Wright knew that Cole had been indicted in 2007 on drug distribution charges or if they knew each other.

Cole told the FBI he was connected to the organization run by Craig Petties, an accused drug kingpin charged with racketeering and conspiracy in six murders.

In 2008, Cole offered to turn over to Drug Enforcement Administration agents three vehicles he bought with drug money, including a 2007 Cadillac Escalade SUV and a 2008 Mercedes Benz S63 that had been registered to Wright.

Wright told agents he had sold two vehicles to Cole and he no longer owned them, although registration records listed the Cadillac in Wright's name and the Mercedes in one of Wright's business investments, Allwright Automotive LLC.

In federal court filings, Lorenzen Wright claimed ownership of the cars and said he didn't know the property was used in a crime. A federal judge entered a default judgment in favor of the government in March 2010 and the vehicles were forfeited and the case closed"

so some thugs felt bitter about the court decision?

Sherra Robinson Wright opened her front door one day in recent weeks to find three men she had never seen before, each with guns tucked in their waistbands.

They looked serious and wanted to know if her ex-husband, former NBA star Lorenzen Wright, 34, happened to be inside the Whisperwood Drive home visiting his six children.

No, she assured them, and they drove away.

Lorenzen Wright's Wife Sherra Arrested In Connection To His Murder

After free agent NBA player Lorenzen Wright was reported missing, it seemed to a lot of people including his mother that something didn't seem right.

On July 19, that would be the last day anyone would see Lorenzen Wright, 34, alive, who was later reported missing on July 22nd by his mother, as covered on MemphisRap.com on last week.

Although the public wouldn't know until later, 911 dispatchers received a phone call from Lorenzen Wright's cell phone and about 10 gun shots where heard and a man speaking expletives, as reported on HipHopRX.com.

Almost 10 days later, Lorenzen Wright's body was discovered in a wooded area near the Fieldstone Apartments off Hacks Cross revealing the whereabouts of his body.

His wife Sherra Wright, 39, later came and told authorities that men came to her home looking for Lorenzen Wright and guns could be visibly seen. To bring even more to the story, according to ABC 24, Sherra Wright's neighbors reported to authorities that soon after Lorenzen Wright was reported missing, a huge fire from a grill could be seen burning and it was unusual since it was on one of the hottest nights of the year.

On Sunday, authorities spent the day searching through Sherra Wright's possessions including the grill that is believed to may have been used to hide evidence.

According to Sherra Wright's attorney Gail Mathes, her client had no reason to want Lorenzen Wright dead because she needed him for support.

In related news, Internet users are speaking amongst themselves alleging that Sherra Wright confessed to the murder.

Wow she really killed dude. Made up a story of armed men showing up at her house, thus using that to corroborate her potential false alibi. And now neighbors reportedly remember seeing a fire in her backyard, where she probably was burning evidence. She is done. This is about to be an episode on Forensic Files SMH.

Maybe, but she's innocent until proven guilty, so let's be patient, and let the authorities do their job before we throw her under the bus. Justice will be served in due time.

What would be her motive to want to do such a thing?

Police detectives in Memphis searched the home and backyard of ex-NBA player Lorenzen Wright's ex-wife on Sunday, WPTY-TV in Memphis reported.

Wright
Lorenzen Wright's body was found Wednesday in the woods in southeast Memphis. He had been missing since July 18, when he left his ex-wife's house around midnight with an unidentified person. Police have ruled his death a homicide.

Detectives spent several hours at the home of Sherra Wright, including a lengthy search of a backyard grill and fire pit, according to the report. Her neighbors told police they had seen smoke coming from the backyard the night Lorenzen Wright went missing and thought it strange because it was one of the hottest nights of the summer.

Last week, Sherra Wright's lawyer, Gail Mathes, said three armed men looking for Lorenzen Wright showed up to the ex-wife's house about six weeks before he was found shot to death. The men, dressed in sport coats with weapons in view, threatened Sherra Wright and her family if she told anyone about the visit, Mathes said.

The 6-foot-11 Wright, who starred at the University of Memphis, played 13 seasons in the NBA for the Los Angeles Clippers, Atlanta Hawks, Memphis Grizzlies, Sacramento Kings and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Wright's mother is criticizing the way police in suburban Germantown handled the 911 call that came in from Wright's phone the night he died, The Commercial Appeal reported. The newspaper, which first reported the call, said a garbled male voice on the call can be heard using an expletive, and then as many as a dozen gunshots are heard in succession.

Rodney Bright, Germantown's deputy police chief, said department officials did not know about the call until Tuesday, eight days after it was received by a dispatcher in the early morning hours of July 19.

"They did drop the ball," said Wright's mother, Deborah Marion, according to the report. "How do you call 911 and hear shots and nobody reacts?"

Marion said that once, when her grandchildren were playing with the phone and called 911, three police officers showed up at the door to investigate.

"How do three police show up for a 911 hang-up, but nobody does anything when you have a 911 and shots? Somebody's got to answer for this. I want somebody prosecuted because this is not right," she said, according to the report.

Wright leaves behind six children, his mother and his father, Herb Wright, who coached his son from a wheelchair after he was shot in the spine. Lorenzen Wright's 11-month-old daughter, Sierra, died in March 2003 of sudden infant death syndrome.

Wright's family and the NBA's Grizzlies are hosting a memorial service for Wright, a Memphis native, on Wednesday at FedEx Forum.
