Beck has been releasing quality material for about 15 years. I love most of his work.

Majority of his songs are about him being a loser and a loner, nah Im kidding Ive only listen to a handful of Becks songs and there pretty good.

But on the other hand Radio Head has been consistent with there music throughout the past 2 decades. Theres not one band out there that I would compare them to.

I'm finally getting a chance to listen to the 5.1 DTS mix.... and I'm LOVING IT!!!

I just wish it was earlier so I could really play this loud.

Oh man.... they really need to release their albums in DTS.

The dude that made this did a great job with what he had available. While good, it can be a whole lot better if done by Radiohead themselves.

There's inconsistencies in the mixes, at times the mixing is obvious, such as having some of the effects and and background in the surround sound speakers. At times he does a good job at switching channels with some of the elements. One such example is on 'Kid A' in which the glitchy sounds travel from one speaker to the next. In Morning Bell, the guitar wailing is nicely added on the surround speakers, while some of the backing riffs are isolated to the center channel.

Comparing this however to the NIN 'Downward Spiral' or Pink Floyd's 'DSOTM' SACD version is completely different.

One can clearly notice the difference in how the mixing was approached, with each instrument balanced properly. Some of the sounds in this Kid A mix, overwhelm the others so they tend to fight for the listener's ears. With the SACD albums I mentioned above, everything sounds cohesive and clean.

But like I mentioned, this dude didn't have the resources that the makers of the SACDs I mentioned did. Another thing to consider is that SACD's quality imo is better than DTS. It sounds warmer and the mixing is true 5.1 and not simulated like it is with DTS. I'll try to burn this on a dvd and play it as a native 5.1 to see if there's a difference.

Having said that, it's still a great mix and worth the download.

I know you're on a Mac, but did you try booting into Windows and following my suggestions? You get the same effect, with all of your albums, minus the need to download anything new.

Naw, didn't try it.. .maybe some other time.

I also want 'native' and TRUE 5.1 mix, not simulated which is basically what we're getting with anything that doesn't come directly from the source.

But I'll def give it a shot.

I hope it doesn't just add more ambience or spread out the sound tho. There's apps and plugins that I can use on the Mac that 'simulate' surround sound, but they end up doing a very inconsistent job and usually make things kinda bad at times.

With this, I played it with 'Plex' hooked up to my home receiver and it played in DTS.

Not even close...Pearl Jam is the greatest band of the last 20 years.

Ten was a classic. Vs was another classic. Vitalogy was great. No Code was good. Yield was a personal favorite of mine. Self-titled/Avocado was a good comeback album. Backspacer was also good.

Binaural and Riot Act were their only bad albums.

That's 7 out of 9. Incredible!

Radiohead got The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A. All 3 are classic albums but the rest of their catalog were mediocre while Pablo Honey, Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief sucked badly!

Tread carefully, there is a strong Radiohead mind-warped contingent here. "Each album is so atmospherically different from the next" and blah blah blah :lol

I don't understand why some are so seemingly threatened by people who have a very high opinion of Radiohead. It is a very odd phenomena. It is as though we should apologize for loving the band.

...not going to happen.
