Not really trying to knock anybody but these are some posts I find amusing on here. It happens in ALL threads of certain categories. Funny stuff. But don't stop on account, I don't want to be a killjoy
The Best ......
Usually in these type of threads a poster will start of with a general consensus opinion. Then every following post is to try to get in the response nobody has mentioned yet. Sometimes acting shocked nobody even mentioned it yet even though the chosen response was mediocre. Then someone goes overkill and lists off every single response not mentioned
Example: Best Spiderman Villian
OP: Venom
next poster: Sabretooth
next poster: it's got to be Doc Oc
next poster: no: it's Goblin
Next poster: Electro, Sandman, Carnage, Mysterio, Scorpion, Hobgoblin, Rhino
Next poster: What, no mention of Flash Thompson?!?!!
Your Favorite.....
Similar to The Best.... threads but in this one when somebody asks Your Favorite.... there is somebody who has a need to make a list even though favorite generally means one. Usually it's to list off every response not mentioned just to be the first to get it in
(NBA Lounge) The Greatest.....
This is the only one that actually irks me. Anytime a subject is created with The Greatest....., no matter what it is somebody always seems to think posting "Jordan, nuff said" is the definitive answer. Irks the crap out of me because it further feeds into the Jordan over hype syndrome, even if the response is clearly far fetched
Example: Best Backcourt duo
OP: Magic and Scott
next poster: Isiah and Dumars
next poster: Monroe and Frazier
Next poster: Jordan and anybody, nuff said
/End Thread
Worst expression on a subjective forum. I'd rather respond "great post"

I don't see a problem with someone making a list if the thread is just asking favorite. Actually, I find it a bit odd that you find it amusing. The person making a list isn't being lazy like the other slackers. Nobody likes a slacker, hateraid

Not complaining about the effort. But the definition of favorite(no plural) is your top choice whereas someone is compelled to run off a list.
The only reason I see it is to take the credit on being the first person to post that response. That is pretty amusing.

yeah i try to stick by my absolute favorites. but i guess the thread would go nowhere if people didn't end up posting more choices. although it's debatable if a simple list thread should go anywhere in the first place.

Slacker. It's not about wanting credit for being the first to post a certain response. That's silly. As we all know, lists >>>>> singular answers. Also, some people have trouble picking out 1 favorite so they give multiple answers, and a list is just an extension of that. Sometimes making a list is actually easier than trying to pick out 1 single thing as the lone favorite. Plus, favorites change so someone might include others that might be there at a different time, so that's another reason why lists are superior. But I'm just rambling

Oh, God no, I hate lists. Just kidding, I like lists, but only if I'm getting credit for being the first person to post that response. Wait, no, who gives a shit about getting credit for that? If I make a list, then it's for other reasons (can't decide on a favorite, I want other things to get some love, just to amuse you, I have time to waste, it's a subject I like and 1 measly answer won't suffice, etc...)

Lol, ouch. I didn't think you'd take it so personally. I was just trying to get a laugh.
I'm not saying EVERY poster is under that category. Of course there are going to be some who are posting a list for reasons you mentioned. But I'd say the majority falls under the "in before" category.
I bet after most post the list, they invest in the thread and lock into it, checking and rechecking to see if they've been noticed.
But you're right, who gives a shyt? I don't. It was merely an observation.

This kills threads too and sucks the fun out of it. When someone makes a complete lists of things, it prevents others the opportunity to post them and make the thread more interesting.
