Since there are so many rumors from the heart breaking news that
Ric Bucher reported on ESPN yesterday, I've decided to ask you guys, IF we do trade Melo, what would you want in exchange and with which teams?
IMO I don't think we can trade Melo to NY they have nothing we want, if the Knicks are serious a third team might have to be involved, but I don't see any possibility that we'll trade Melo there.
AS of right now I hope Melo stays, but who knows.

Draft picks. I want Denver to somehow get into the lottery next year. We need to let K-Mart walk\Maybe J.R\Get rid of Billups and completely blow this team up.
My ideal trade would be dumping Harrington\Birdman and getting back an expirer and drafts picks. Maybe a solid prospect if it's possible.
I'm going to be PISSED if Melo leaves and Denver tries to be a medicore team with no chance for the next 2 years with Billups\Nene. If Melo leaves it's time for the team to move into a new direction.

basically i think we should try and trade him for another star if he dosent want to resign
i have thought of a couple of trades so we get somthing in return
1 .carmelo anthony 1nd round draft pic to indiana for hansbrough ( good relationship with lawson ), brandon rush and danny granger and we save 3 mill in cap space
2. carmelo anthony to new york for curry, gallinari , azubuike and randolph
3. carmelo to philly for iggy , speights and lou williams
they all work but its mostly just wishfull thinking on my part
if i had to to choose id choose trade one just for having another great outside shooter and star player in granger hansbroughs past with ty lawson and would be a fantasic base for our second unit and ive always just liked brandon rush
billups/ lawson /AC
granger/ AA / rush
harrington/ jr / rush/ balkman
Kmart/ hansbrough / willams
nene/ birdman
id go to war with that line up
but like i said wishful thinking
or even if we made it a 3 way trade -
denver gets
jakim noah
hansbrough
deng
granger
rush
indi get
melo
taji gibson
ac
bulls get
nene
jr
that would give us
billups/ lawson
granger/ AA/ rush
deng/ harrington/ balkman
kmart/ hansbrough/ willaims
noah/ birdman
but still wishfull thinkling

I think this is fair for both sides but I want to see what Nuggets fans think...
From a Bulls fan:
Carmelo Anthony
for
Luol Deng, Taj Gibson, James Johnson and 2 first round picks (one belonging to the Bulls and the other is the Bobcats pick.
How is that for a trade?

Here are some RUMORS of possible Melo trading destinations:
1) Washington Wizards: Gilbert Arenas + Howard/Thornton
2) New Jersey Nets (soon to be Brooklyn): Brook Lopez OR Devin Harris+ other talents/picks
3) Cleveland Cavaliers: J.J. Hickson + other talents/picks
4) Los Angeles Clippers: Baron Davis, Chris Kaman, or Blake Griffin + possibly
some other talents/picks
5) New Orleans Hornets: David West + Peja Stojakovic + other talents/picks
6) Houston Rockets: Shane Battier + Jared Jefferies + Chase Budinger
These are the new names that have popped up recently aside from the New York Knicks.

I'd like this trade. Sammy D + Cousins for Melo + Birdman. We get to dump Birdman's contract. Dalembert is an expiring contract. Good lottery prospect in Cousins. Kings set a duo of Evans and Melo for the future.
Probably never even comes up tho.

NuggetsFan seems to be the only one that understand what we should look for in a deal.. Young, cheap talent, picks and expirings to make the salaries work.. Not Arenas, Deng, AI2, Kaman or Granger
This is my deal:
Carmelo Anthony and Chris Andersen -4-
Young Talen:
Jordan Hill
Patrick Patterson
Chase Budinger
Picks
'11 (rights to swap picks with NY)
'12 (rights to swap picks with NY)
'13 Houston 1st round pick
Fillers
Shane Battier (expiring)
Jared Jeffries (expiring)
Houston Rockets team
Brooks - Lowry
Martin - Lee
Melo - Lee
Scola - Birdman
Yao - Miller
Denver Nuggets team
Lawson - Billups
Afflalo - JR
Harrington - Battier
Martin - Patterson
Nene - Hill
- Lawson is starting, cuz he needs the experience if we're not gonna contend and I would also look to trade Billups for a similar deal (not so good ofc)

Jordon hill is terrible- he and patterson and some late/non lottery picks would be a. Bad haul for the nugs in a carmelo trade
--------
No trade for carmelo works for nugs
-------
If it Had to be done- russell westbrook and a big or brook lopez and a gaurd- make a team that wants carmelo find a way to make one of those teams happy- has to be a long term center or gaurd

Westbrook? WTF, he is overrated and we have Lawson. And why would they want Melo when they have Durant and Green? And why would Melo want to go to OKC?
Lopez is nice, but I doubt NJ would give up Lopez cuz I doubt Melo would sign an extension with a Nets team without Lopez...

Dream on with the Westbrook\Lopez no way were getting that type of talent back.
So is it 100% that if Melo leaves Denver will completely revamp this team? That's my biggest worry to be honest. Keeping guys like Billups\J.R\Martin\Nene around and never being good enough to do anything but never being bad enough to get high lottery picks.

If you could get Iggy,Young,Hawes,1st, that's the deal to do, especially if you can slide JR into the mix some how.
The NJ deal I'd think about, but I'd make them include T.Williams and take JR. Favors is going to be a stud, build your franchise around him type though so I think you have to think long and hard about it. could be your D12

Hot off the ESPN wire:
The Denver Nuggets are having serious discussions about a four-way trade that would land Carmelo Anthony with the New Jersey Nets, according to sources with knowledge of the negotiations.
The proposed deal, sources said, also would involve the Utah Jazz and the Charlotte Bobcats. It would deliver Nets rookie forward Derrick Favors, Jazz veteran Andrei Kirilenko and multiple first-round picks to Denver in exchange for their franchise player, potentially bringing a resolution to Anthony's uncertain future before the Nuggets hold their first practice of the new season.
Sources told ESPN.com that the deal, which has yet to be finalized, also would send former All-Star point guard Devin Harris to Charlotte, with Bobcats forward Boris Diaw moving to Utah.

So Melo said he here in Denver and is ready to play.. Verrrry interesting. When I went to the Nuggets/NBA website I was in for quite a shock. I looked everywhere and I could NOT find on Melo reference. They have removed all his photos advertising or his twitter page. It is like he never existed. I give them 48 hrs and he will be gone. And until he s...I may start burning my Nuggets gear..piece by piece.. I got a brand new lighter and a galleon of gas just a waiting....:rant :rant :rant :rant :rant

Have heard this is the Nuggets fault. Seems like they wanted to dump a couple more players because they did not want to pay more cap costs for adding the saleries from NJ and Utah. Cheap ass Stan and son strike again. Maybe once the team is broken up and they see empty seats(like at McNichols) they will wake up and understand....IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY!!:wtf: :rant :rant

Yep they could of had 3 or more expiring contracts for next season. A great chance to have a lottery pick next year(ain't no way Nets making playoffs) plus over 40 million free to sign free agents. Could of restocked their roster all for one person (MELO)  :wtf: :wtf:

Since the Knicks pretty much know that Melo wants to come to play in NY (no not in Brooklyn, in MSG) the Knicks will figure out exactly how to obtain him. Even if they have to give up 2 players from their starting line-up in order to obtain Melo. Most likely Wilson Chandler and Landry Fields plus a #1 draft pick they can get from Houston in a deal for Anthony Randolph.
Before you all say that the Knicks have nothing to offer look at Wilson Chandler and rookie sensation Landry Fields. Chandler is a solid offensive player, is up there with Amare in shot blocks, and is a perimeter shooter as well as being great in driving down the lane.
Fields has been called the steal of the last NBA draft. 2nd round 39th overall and has been a solid offensive and defensive player as well as leads all Guards in rebounds in the league. If Blake Griffin wasn't playing Fields would win the Rookie of the Year award hands down.
So now tell me these 2, along with a #1 draft pick, isn't a good offer for Carmelo Anthony?

Just like the front office exec said "Denver needs to get real" about the 5 picks.
The Nets, although they may appear to be the favorites to win Melo, may still be shuffling around 5 picks after Feb. Melo made his intentions loud and clear. He wants to join the Knicks, a team that will make it to the playoffs this season, and a city he wants to return to. He will only sign an extension if traded to the Knicks. Melo may get what he wants.

Not so fast..he ain't won yet. If he dosent take the Nets offer he can lose close to 30 million dollars:wtf: See this contract has to be signed this season to get the 65 million. Any contract signed after the season is over will not be even close to what Denver offered.

Not really. Melo knows that coming to the NYK will guarantee him another financial outlet that would be far more lucrative in a city built on money. Marketing deals. Commercials. Advertisements. His stock will generate more money in NY in the long run. Stoudemire is treated like royalty here. I imagine Melo would attract the same respect and possibly even more considering the environment he will be in. The options are always there. Melo knows that. And if he wants a ring he knows that the NYK are definitely in a position to do so if he joins the team. The Nets have alot of rebuilding to do. And they have alot more IFS??? than the NYK.

Boston is a team full of veterans. How long do you think this chemistry will last? Maybe one more season. Unless they make some drastic chages.
Orlando looks very good and no doubt improved with the skills of Gilbert Arenas. But this assumption of Melo not winning a ring in the NYK is poor because the Knicks are likely to start attracting alot more talent to NY.

Why no ring for Melo...Very simple...I have been watching his play since he came to the NBA and he is not the type of player that will take to to a championship. He has NO leadership ability NONE AT ALL. He can be a good secondary piece but NEVER the main cog to lead a team. He kind of folds and tens to disappear during periods in the playoff. So can the knicks big ticket put the rest of his team on his back and lead them to the promise land? Serious doubts!:applause:

Well first of all let's get something straight. The Knicks have 2 leaders in Stoudemire and Felton. Melo isn't asked to carry the Knicks on his back (for christs sakes the Knicks gave the Spurs a beating tonight without Melo) it's a team effort like it should be. Melo joining the Knicks wouldn't mean he becomes the captain. Besides Stoudemire is taking all the responsibility of the Knicks wins and losses. But a Melo joining the Knicks would seriously improve the team. Thus making them serious title contenders.

Guess you were wrong. And it looks like the NYK got Melo. But Denver still got some nice talent from the Knicks. The Knicks roster really didn't alter much except that we got Billups for Felton. Overall the Knicks got what they want, Melo got what he want, and Denver got something out of it.

Be careful what you say Nuggets fans. It's bad enough you boo'd the guy when all he wanted to do was keep his options open. All he did through all the controversy was elevate his game.He didn't disappear like LeBron. He had a 50 point game and lets not forget, his sister died recently. You guys need to start blaming your overrated coach and your GM who's already off to a horrible start. As a Knicks fan I must say,Melo and Chauncey didn't exactly get the respect they deserved.Chauncey shouldn't even have been traded. He's a Denver native and his "huge contract" Ujiri was so eager to get rid of,ends the same year Felton's does (2 years). We weren't even pushing to get Chauncey.N yall booed Melo and forced him out of town and tried to spin it like he was demanding a trade.Management nor the fans didn't even give him a reason to want to re-sign.Im just coming as a Knicks fan saying be careful what yall say and do.I'd hate to see yall end up like Cleveland saying Melo will never win a ring when in fact you guys probably wont sniff the playoffs next year.I dont wish bad on your franchise. You have some good young guys but please, don't be bitter like Dan Gilbert and lose the sympathy that the league will have for you. It's not a good look.Players have the right to explore other teams.Leave it at that. This is a guy who grew up in BK and Baltimore and gave Denver,a totally different atmosphere,7 years of his life.

i really think the gm is blameless- this is the fault of George Karl and Kroenke- those guys screwed us so bad and its only the idiots that buy what karl has been trying to push on us, The franchise was ruined by Kroenke being cheap and letting Karl bring it down just so he always has an excuse

Agreed. But you get my point?I think it's messed up the blame has been placed on Melo.He gave yall some good year and to see Karl throw dirt on his name just because he wanted to keep his options open for him and his family is screwed up.Karl is an overrated coach and Ujiri did not get off to a good start as a GM.He didn't do anything with Kenyon Martin's expiring contract. If we can get something for Eddy Curry who hasnt played a meaningful game in years, yall coulda got something for Kenyon.Everyone wants to talk about the superstars "messing up the league" and fans of small market teams wanna rip guys when they leave. In fact, front offices are messing up the league. They get once in a lifetime opportunities and draft franchise players and instead ofdoing their jobs and building around them, they wait till their contract is up and cry wolf when their players want out.Furthermore, they portray to the media that their hand is being forced when in fact they took the easy way out.Look at the big name free agents of the last two years and out of the guys who left, none of their former teams can say they took a chance and brought some real talent to compliment them.Cleveland coulda had Amare Stoudemire but they denied the trade because they didn't wana give up JJ Hickson :wtf: Its stuff liek that which causes players to say,if I'm going to be on a bad team,@ least let me go to a big market where the owner isnt cheap.

I don't blame melo one bit. It makes me sick that people would boo him after all he's done for this franchise this past 7 years. He played terrific basketball for us this year, and pretty much always showed up even when the rest of the team didn't, which was really frustrating to watch. He was gonna leave anyways, and at least he had the professionalism to tell Denver that so they could get something for him. He deserves all the respect in the world from Denver fans.
I think this trade needed to happen no matter what. Melo's years here were great, but only getting out of the first round once isn't really getting the job done. It was time for a change.
On that note, I don't think blaming the front office is necessarily right either. You can't say they didn't make the efforts to build around him. Kenyon Martin, Allen Iverson, Chauncey Billups, and Andre Miller all were picked up in order to help him. Melo just isn't the kind of player that can lead a championship team.

..........
You are wrong to say the nuggets built AROUND carmelo- kenyon martin is the exact opposite type of pf you would put next to Carmelo if you were trying to compliment. Carmelos game
.................................
By going so far out of the way to keep a total non offensive option at pf and using 3rd stringer after 3rd stringer after 3rd stringer at sg Karl was intentionally holding back Carmelos all around game- Karl built his rotations around putting kmart , dahntay Jones, AC, afflalo, and Sheldon Williams in positions for them to succeed and have such great opportunity When he should have been building the rotation around Carmelo and putting him in the best spots to succeed
........................
Karl wanted Carmelo to be a perimeter shooter - he went out of his way to avoid putting a balanced lineup around Carmelo that would have brought his all around game out
..............................
5 years and never trying Carmelo and. JR together? Karls ego cost both players a lot of success but did create a lot of value for Jones and afflalo
.................................
Carmelo leaving wasn't always a for sure- it didn't become a for sure until Kroenke and. Karl started running the franchise into the ground
................................
This isn't about the NBA its basketball, you play your best players in the best positions for them to succeed and you fill in around them- only an idiot builds around role players
