If this is true, then the Knicks have potentially locked themselves as a 4/5 seed.

this has always been obvious Melo will end up a Knick eventually, but will it be for the upcoming season or will he play one more in Denver then move to NYC?

I'm more interested in what Anucha thinks...but it would at least explain Dolan's unfathomable desire to bring back Thomas.

They aren't credible sources when it comes to inside information. They make stories up or simply use "educated guesses". New York Post is even worse at this.
There are plenty of cases of them simply lying or exaggerating a story.

then you are a fool. Its nba rumors reach natty enquirer levels. Just because they say what you want to hear, doesnt make them a reliable source.

You're always questioning people's intelligence these days Booze. Come on man, join our side - We have Big baby dancing to the dougie, 'toine is shimmying up a storm and Stephen A is pontificating if there is any egg on his face. (there isn't)

I'm actually on the fence about this. If a big time player wants to leave and the deal with rumored team doesn't go down pretty quickly, it usually never happens.

Maybe for the nba. For baseball they're easily the best newspaper in the city.

Good thing Isiah has never been wrong about anything
Why would melo tell Isiah he was going to sign with NY with an entire season left to go in Denver? Free agents dont announce a year early, and sorry New Yorkers but in case lebron didnt clue you in, the world does not revolve around you.

The only good thing is....since Isiah is officially not an employee of the Knicks, he can talk to anyone he wants and it isn't tampering.

And what will you do with yourself when he does leave Denver?

Ms. Cleo said LeBron was going to NY also

Kurple seems to be in straight denial mode right now. If Melo signs with the Knicks, he'll probably begin work on building a time machine.

NY plays in the shittiest eastern division, but even with Melo they're not better than Boston. East has 6 teams who will win near/more than 50 games. Celtics, Magic, Heat, Bulls, Bucks, Hawks. Who's NY realistically passing? Even with Melo, they're missing a lot of pieces. Amar'e's only a small upgrade over Lee. They need another above average dude to roll with if they want a shot. Everyone else has 3-4 above average and better players.
Melo + someone = good though. or if one/two of their young guys pan out and explode becoming 50% better.

In the hypothetical situation that we do get Carmelo next year while maintaining our current roster, I'd say we are most probably better both record-wise and talent wise than Milwaukee and Atlanta.
Assuming this is all next year through a FA Carmelo, we'd be fielding a roster of Felton-Chandler-Anthony-Gallinari-Stoudemire-Randolph. I'd take that over an Atlanta team that will very likely be stagnant in Johnson-Smith-Horford-Crawford, Bibby's done and they're in the same division as Miami/Orlando. Milwaukee has a nice duo in Jennings/Bogut, but Anthony/Stoudemire is the far better duo and I'd take nearly every player on the NY's main rotation over Milwaukee's, except perhaps Salmons... Maggette won't be a great investment in my opinion and Gooden is nothing special. Not to mention, this is a star driven league and it goes without saying Anthony/Stoudemire is a superstar duo.
Boston had a good run this year and might have another good one this coming season, but does does anyone honestly really expect them to be competitive the season after, when their stars will be 1-2 years even older and even more worn down after a likely decent playoff run?
With all that in perspective, assuming Anthony comes to NY as a FA next year, I see the power rankings along the lines of:
Miami
Orlando
Chicago
New York
Boston
Milwaukee
Atlanta
AND that's all assuming nothing major happens to the other teams.

Even with Melo added as a FA(I believe it will be a S&T if he does leave), they won't be better than Boston or Milwaukee. Boston will be old, but their defense should still be solid and Milwaukee was already really good last year. Imagine them with a healthy C who guards the paint as well as anyone. That NY team will score big, but their defense will be questionable. That's my opinion anyway.

Anthony has a better chance winning in Denver. lets be for real.
story is probably a plant... melo's agent tells thomas this, thomas tells the knicks, press gets a hold of it and it lites a fire under the nuggets butt to do something proactive
