These poor little guys are on the endangered species list, but not just because of limited habitat, but because of native superstition. Many people native to Madagascar consider the aye-aye an omen of ill luck. For this reason they often have been killed on sight.

One of the niftiest little creatures I've come across. These guys are a cross between rabbit and kangaroo if you ask me.

Here are some cool videos of the Jerboa as a pet. They almost look cartoonish:

Red panda looks cool.

Mata mata turtle looks closely related to the salt water crocodile, just based on that 2nd pic. Head shares a lot of similarities.

That pic B-Low quoted is ****ing scary... That crab is huge.

I've seen Red Panadas in zoos, but the first time I heard that name I was thinking 'OMG, a red giant panda! That's so cool!' and it turned out they looked nothing alike and were tiny. I've seen giant isopods at big seafood restaurant places in HK, the scary thing is is that there's the bay, and a sidewalk, and all the restaurants are on the sidewalk, and they would just have those creatures crawling around on the sidewalk (they can't move very far anyway). It was terrifying the first time I saw those.

AYE-AYE

http://www.treehugger.com/aye-aye-small.jpg

Aye-ayes tap on the trunks and branches of the trees they visit up to 8 times per second and listen to the echo produced to find hollow chambers inside. Once a chamber is found they chew a hole into the wood and get grubs out of that hole with their elongated and bony middle fingers The Aye-aye is often viewed as a harbinger of evil and killed on sight. Others believe that should one point its long middle finger at you, you were condemned to death.

Have you ever seen Bizzare Foods with Anthony Zimmern on The Travel Channel? People will eat anything.

Looking at that picture though, I can't help but be reminded of how inhumane the conditions are at those markets. Most markets will have dead fish there, but other markets will have overly crowded tanks like the ones you see there.

:wtf: People eat those things there?

Are you kidding me, when you order the thing off the menu, you can request to go to the tank and choose the fish/crustacean you want, and they'd fish it up for you and show it to you to see if it's big enough.

there's one Japanese dish I've had, probably the most disturbing food I'll ever eat. It was basically raw lobster, and the disturbing part is that they serve the lobster to you, STILL ALIVE. So there you are, picking sliced lobster sashimi from its shell, and suddenly the antenna, eyes, legs starts moving, waving slowly in front of you, whilst you are eating the raw lobster staring into its eyes.

To keep with the topic, Feinting Goats

i think most, if not all, centipedes are venomous. i know those big ones like the Vietnamese Centipede can kill kids.

i got bit by a tiny one when i was a kid and it stung. i was always collecting insects.

Invasion of the giant rats
http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/01108/SNN1905A-280_1108840a.jpg
HORRIFIED neighbours told yesterday how their homes are being invaded by giant rats - including a 30-INCH LONG monster that was shot dead.

The rodents, twice the size of common types, are plaguing an estate in Bradford, West Yorks, often appearing in kitchens and lounges.

It is feared some could be "super rats" from South America.

Pictured above is a monster 2

Wanted to say the same thing. Looks like an ordinary nutria to me. Or maybe a muskrat but I think those would be smaller. Sweet animals and nothing scary or aggressive at all although they make noises you would attribute to a much larger animal.

Living in South Florida, we've come across a problem in the Everglades....too many damn snakes. There's a huge overpopulation of them due to natural habitat and no real predators out there, that they are devouring everything in sight. Some of these snakes are stupid though. They'll eat that sheep, yet die in the process.
