I'm talking classic "picture is worth 1000 words" stuff. Here's one I came across a while back.

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f80/rufuspaul/getimage.jpg

I just love it. Dean Smith with cig in hand. James Worthy and Jimmy Black looking completely strung out. Everyone looks as if they were just told that their mother died. The net around Worthy's neck is the only clue that UNC had just won the 1982 NCAA championship.

What you got OTC?

Obvious reasons, I really wish I could find a high quality high resolution version, I'd frame it. Game 4 of the 98 conference semi's. Knocked it down (after a beauty of a touch pass by Mullin) to force OT, 11 point win. Indy wins the series in 5. Took the Bulls to 7 in the ECF in one of the seemingly forgotten great series of all time, all but game 5 was a 6 point or less margin of victory, 3 games 3 points or less. That's the series we got the Reggie shove off on Jordan in game 4, complete with Bird's cold blooded nonchalant reaction to it.

I can't find any bigger ones that don't have special effects all over them, but just looking at the crowds faces is hilarious cuz they all know the shot is good. Then there's one little boy and his dad wearing Bulls jerseys and they have these huge smiles on their face. Just a great pic that captures everyone's emotions perfectly

Yes, his famous Stanley cup winning goal in overtime. In basketball there is "the shot", in hockey this is "the goal".

La Mano de Dios, 1986 World Cup quarter-finals Argentina-England

The game was held four years after the Falklands War between Argentina and the United Kingdom and was a key part in developing the intense football rivalry between the two nations. It was also a match which included two of the most famous goals in football history, both scored by Diego Maradona. His first, after fifty-one minutes, was the Hand of God goal, in which Maradona scored with an illegal, but unpenalised, handball. His second, after fifty-four minutes, saw him dribble past six England players, Beardsley, Reid, Butcher, Fenwick, Butcher (again), and finally goalkeeper Peter Shilton.http://nuke.lungotevere.org/Portals/0/maradona.jpg

Dorando Pietri, 1908 Olympics in London, Marathon.

Pietri began his race at a rather slow pace, but in the second half began a powerful surge moving him into second position by the 32 km mark, 4 minutes behind South African Charles Hefferon. When he knew that Hefferon was in crisis, Pietri further increased his pace, overtaking him at the 39 km mark.
The effort took its toll and with only two kilometres to go, Pietri began to feel the effects of extreme fatigue and dehydration. When he entered the stadium, he took the wrong path and when umpires redirected him, he fell down for the first time. He got up with their help, in front of 75,000 spectators.
He fell four more times, and each time the umpires helped him up. In the end, though totally exhausted, he managed to finish the race in first place. Of his total time of 2h 54min 46s, ten minutes were needed for that last 350 metres. Second was American Johnny Hayes. The American team immediately lodged a complaint against the help Pietri received from the umpires. The complaint was accepted and Pietri was disqualified and removed from the final standings of the race.

I am a huge Laker fan, and I remember this game between Kobe in his early days in the league and Jordan exiting his prime. They went back and forth in the game like long time rivals as if they have been playing against each other for over a decade. Classic game between the top 2 SGs in NBA history.

Can you imagine how loud it was in there, especially for what a 2 year old? I'm sure they used them to help block out the sound; a lot of small children cannot handle loud noises without throwing a tantrum.

There was a lot of noise with people screaming, very loud music, fireworks going off, etc. He just had the headphones on to lower the deafening background noise since he was right in the middle of it. Kid looks awesome though with the headphones on, cute as hell. :D

http://www.ordoh.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/074009lci.jpg

Just awesome haha. He looks very impressed staring at the little blue piece of paper lol. I doubt he had any clue as to what was going on, and that is what makes it so awesome. His most famous image is The Twickenham Streaker, taken in February 1974 of Michael O’Brien being led away by police after streaking at an England-France rugby match at Twickenham. The image won LIFE magazine's "Picture of the Year" award, People Magazine Picture of The Decade and a World Press Photo Award.

War photographer Don McCullin said in 2006 that it is the one image that he wished he'd taken.

Naked truth

A reminiscence by photographer Ian Bradshaw on the Main Page this week provides a welcome excuse to reproduce what was undoubtedly his most famous picture and, in fact, probably one of the most famous sports/news photos of all time.

Sunday Mirror editor Bob Edwards had the inspiration to run it as a caption competition for readers and the winning entry was ‘It’ll never stand up in court’ – although the one we liked was ‘I’m coming quietly’. ;-)

Ian now lives in Pennsylvania, has become an American citizen and is specialising in photographing education. His Streaker photograph has just been bought by the Mus

I am a huge Colts fan; It REALLY hurt me to lose in the Superbowl, but I HAVE to post this classic picture that will probably never be forgotten. Just awesome awesome day to be Drew Brees, win the most important championship in any USA sport and have a young son there with you to share the greatest memory of your lifetime with him in yours hands high up in the air. Awesome..

I am a huge Laker fan, and I remember this game between Kobe in his early days in the league and Jordan exiting his prime. They went back and forth in the game like long time rivals as if they have been playing against each other for over a decade. Classic game between the top 2 SGs in NBA history.

"The Shot"
For more details on this topic, see The Shot (Valparaiso University).

All of this paled in comparison to the March Madness that ensued during his senior year in the 1998 NCAA Tournament. In the Midwest Region, 13-seed Valparaiso was facing 4-seed Ole Miss in the first round. Valparaiso was down 67-69 with 4.1 seconds remaining in the game and Mississippi's Ansu Sesay at the free throw line. After Sesay missed both shots, the Crusaders came up with possession -- 94 feet (29 m) from their basket, and with only 2.5 seconds remaining in the game. On the inbound, the Crusaders used a play known as the Pacer. Jamie Sykes inbounded to Bill Jenkins (basketball), who passed the ball to Bryce Drew. Then, as time expired, Drew released a 23-foot 3-point shot, giving him his 22nd point of the night, and clinching the Crusaders' 70-69 upset and advancing them in the tournament. "The Shot" is seen each year on CBS during "March Madness" and is considered one of the top moments in NCAA history. Drew proceeded to lead the defeat of 12-seeded Florida State University 83-77 in overtime, with a 22-point game. Drew and the Crusaders finally fell to 8-seeded University of Rhode Island by a score of 74-68, with Drew scoring only 18 points. Sports Illustrated would rank it the #5 sports moment of 1998,[1] and Drew secured his place as a Valparaiso, Indiana celebrity along with popcorn guru Orville Redenbacher.

I watched this game live (I was 13 at the time) and absolutely lost my mind when he hit that shot. It was the biggest upset I had ever seen myself and gave hope to small on talent, short on size white guys all over America, at least for one spring.

" Mayo-Gay-Gasol Era Begins in Memphis"

Through the first 91 games of OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay's, Marc Gasol's career together in Memphis they had a 28-63 record. Starting off the 09-10 season going 1-9, due to Allen Iverson distracts. Then started to gell after beating Portland and Dallas. Their next opponent was against arguably the best player in the NBA and team at the time in LeBron James and his Cavs.

Finding themselves down by as many as 15 points. The Grizzlies didn't quit lead by the onslaught of OJ Mayo who was matching LeBron point for point play for play. With the help of his teammates Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol they somehow tied the game and took the lead in the 4th. The game just kept going back and forth back and forth.

LeBron had a chance to win it at the end of the 4th, but dribbled of his foot. In OT with 30 seconds left LeBron was a runaway train hitting a layup to put the Cavs up 1 point. Then Mayo came down the other end and banged a 3 pointer to put the Grizzlies up 2. LeBron then scored on 2 freethrows to tie the game. Then Conley comes down hits the game winner. LeBron had a chance to win it at the end, but missed the shot.

Mayo at the sound of the horn just raised his arms, as LeBron ran into the locker room. Grizzlies would then go on to 27-11 of their next 38 games. Were in the playoff hunt deep into the season.

Now for the upcoming season they are bound to turn heads as Mayo-Gay-Gasol trio look to become the first in franchise history to lead the Grizzlies franchise to their first 50+ win season and playoff win.

" The Flu Game"

One of my earliest memories of GOAT in live action was Game 5 of the 1997 Finals. We all know the story MJ diagnosed with food poisioning, started showing flu like symptons. He was clearly winded sweating profusely, vomiting. With the series tied at 2-2 playing on the Jazz's homecourt, MJ had to suck it up and give arguably his greatest performance. Bulls were down by 16 at one point. Bulls kept fighting and in the 4th quarter Jordan showed why he was the GOAT.

The video does all the talking.
