Elite wasn't all that bad, I give it a 5 out of ten. I see where they are trying to go with the whole concept of a basketball game and I think next they will be great.

I was really disappointed by it, and honestly thought they would be further along than this. I like the controls and the movement of the players(2k is still too rigid, every game I'm fighting with my player to get him to go in the direction I want him to) and the commentary. The defensive AI wasn't bad and Ray Allen really played great defense against me.

The bad? Graphics were not up to par, the shot animations were not right, post game is still garbage(I dont know if I should put this in since that we don't know all the controls), they need to downrate everyone's vertical in this game.

The main thing I liked about it was the way the players moved, I went back and forth between the 2k11 demo and the elite demo and that is the one thing I couldn't stand about 2k11. It is still a pain in the ass to move with the ball in this game.

What kills me about the EA games is they always have these great player / crowd reactions but they never make them context sensitive. It doesn't strike me as that difficult to do. If game is within 5 points and 1 minute and you hit shot, everyone jump up. That would be so cool. But nope, it's all or nothing 95% of the time....

Elite is OUT THERE, though, isn't it? I was really thinking about it and I think it's cool what they are trying to do, but I really think they might have done too much.

2k obviously doesn't give you enough control as a user, so that is probably where they are coming from, but you can't strip down everything and make it like you did Elite.

I really want to play some game for this next year because I love online basketball... but I don't really know which one I can get. At least half of the people that I know that are hardcore Live fans think Elite is lame. There are a few that are hardcore practicing, though.

I think that anyone who says the controls are crap obviously didn't give the game enough time It's more that they personally are not learning the controls. But... the control is good. But it's not user friendly and I don't know if I like how much they stripped it down. I dunno if I can immerse myself in it. I am putting off really 'going hard' on the demo and deciding whether or not to buy it because I am still enjoying Live 10 and I know that if I get into Elite mode I won't be able to play Live 10 at the level I play it now.

Since netplay has become standard for me (05), I've only played 2k for two years... 2k7 and 2k8. I can't believe anyone is gonna sit here and say Live 07 and 08 were good. I can see how people didn't like 06 because there was a lot you could do that was just bogus. Kind of the same issue that arose in 09.

The whole 'superstar moves' were kind of ridiculous when used online. I'd get the win, in the end, but I seriously would play someone who ONLY did superstar moves (just like people in 09 who ONLY did go-to moves) and would be neck and neck until the 4th. I'm not gonna lie I was amazingly good at 06. Seriously, like in terms of people who didn't all out glitch I'd say I was one of the best online. I never saw anyone who could beat me that wasn't totally glitching and a little skilled, too.

But it really was lame that people could sustain themselves vs the high level gamers by just playing BS so they must have been trashing those that were mediocre. That's one thing that looks fun about Elite... if they make it so that there's no BS and it really is the best player wins, I will be into it no matter how lame and dry it looks.

This made me go searching for a new bball game. That's when I saw NBA 2k2. Sure 2k2 doesn't have the level of detail that Live had but it fixed the most fundamental thing, gameplay.

It's 2K for me ever since. I would still buy Live until 2k6, just to see what they'd offer, but 2k's been on a roll ever since that there's hardly any reason at all to change.

This made me go searching for a new bball game. That's when I saw NBA 2k2. Sure 2k2 doesn't have the level of detail that Live had but it fixed the most fundamental thing, gameplay.

It's 2K for me ever since. I would still buy Live until 2k6, just to see what they'd offer, but 2k's been on a roll ever since that there's hardly any reason at all to change.

People would say "it's the same thing all over again" which might be true, but why fix what's not broken? What 2k does is add bits and pieces every year and it worked. The reason why I will buy 2k is because I enjoy the gameplay and know that 2k11 would probably be close to 2k10 quality wise, which I still play even today.

I bought Live last year and I can not believe my eyes.

The game was alright last year, even fun, but this year it seems like the game has taken about 10 steps back from last year.

This is truly embarassing and I am glad it has happened. EA continuously puts out junk and idiotic people run to the stores to buy it.

Finally played the PS3 demo and it was more fun that I thought it'd be. The game has potential and I would consider buying it if it was a $10 downloadable title. There are good ideas here.

For instance, I always liked the game Skate, it had simple analog based controls that were simple to use but incredibly deep. Elite follows similar principles, the right analog represent your hands, you go to your left hand and right at will and push up to shoot. It's easier than 2k11 and it seems like it could be fun.

A theoretical one on one mode looks like it could pretty fun. If they would just made the game one on one and online as a cheap downloadable title, I think they have a winner. Defense is pretty fun too. When the teammates come into play, the game become a mess of poor AI and glitches.

I had a situation in my Jordan Rookie game were our team was up 1 and playing defense. Unfortunately, I noticed nobody was guard John Wall or Cousins. Two of my players (TWO!!) were stuck in Jesus mode at half court. Amazingly, John Wall just iso dribbled against nothing and took a long jumper at the buzzer to lose. If he would've drove or passed to Cousins, they would've won the game.

This game needs to take a year off and it could really be something. Bundling Jam is just admitting that the main product isn't up to snuff and worth the $60 price tag.

I haven't played Live in a while (2003 was the last) and it seems they are still reusing assets from the older renditions (as far back as Live 98 with some dunks). The whole animation system is antiquated and embarrassing for a 2010 videogame. I can't believe Elite exists in a world with 2k11, Madden, Backbreaker and Uncharted. Plays like a game I played on the PC six years ago with updated rosters.

In those three years only once did Live get one up over 2K, and it's only by one point.

So if you say that 2k from 03-05 was "garbage"... then Live 2003 was "super garbage", Live 2004 was "more garbage" and Live 2005 was "slightly less garbage"

Well, to be fair, there is undeniably no way NBA2K4 was a good basketball game. To have it receive the highest score of all the games mentioned is an abomination. Unfortunately, this fact sort of makes all the scores noted moot.

I'll argue for NBA2K3 and NBA2K2 though. In fact, the only reason I even made the switch to 2K was due to Live's futility in their Live '02 campaign. I've been satisfied with each 2K released with the exception of 2004. As such, it's tough for me to say whether Live had the advantage on them each year because honestly, when a person is used to playing one game and then tries to play the other, it feels so awkward that often there is not a good taste left after a brief play.

I saw a few people questioning what NBA2K has changed or added this year. And since I just happen to be a guy following their release of information relatively closely, I'll share the latest link of changes, on their Association Mode (aka Franchise). Elite has some good things going for it, but it seems like EA is more focused on other games. Hopefully Elite gets the NHL treatment. They kept talking about a three year plan, so we'll see next year.
