So this is the scenario. The NBA is cutting 14 teams, I'll let you know which ones in a second, the 16 remaining teams are having a dispersal draft of the leftover players from the folded franchises.

I need 15 people to select a team, first come first serve and draft from the remaining players to create the new 15 MAN NBA rosters.

The Sixteen Remaining Teams are:

Atlantic
Boston Celtics - pete's montreux
Miami Heat - Walking Life
New York Knicks - Tian820
Philadelphia 76ers - Sour Patch Kids

Central
Chicago Bulls - emsteez forreal
Detroit Pistons -G.O.A.T
Indiana Pacers - Rizko
Milwaukee Bucks - Bird

Midwest
Dallas Mavericks - BRabbit
Houston Rockets - SoadRules
San Antonio Spurs - Kebab Stall
St. Louis Hawks - Master Durant 24

Pacific
Los Angeles Lakers - NoGunzJustSkillz
Phoenix Suns - Maniak
Portland Trailblazers - LeBron 23
San Fransisco Warriors - Vapid

Teams Cut & Reasons
Atlanta - Just don't deserve good sports teams. (moved back to St. Louis)
Charlotte - It should work, but it doesn't.
Cleveland Cavaliers - Just not quite enough history to make them worth keeping.
Denver Nuggets - Never advanced to the NBA Finals, just can't make the cut.
L.A. Clippers - LOL
Memphis Grizzlies - The francise is still awaiting it's first series win. It's been 15 years, it's a failure.
Minnesota Timberwolves - One conference Finals in 20 years, no thanks.
New Jersey Nets - Rarely a contender, often a bottom feeder.
New Orleans Hornets - Never lost that new team smell.
Oklahoma City Thunder - Would make a great minor league team name. Had they'd stayed in Seattle, they'd have stayed in the 16 over Phoenix.
Orlando Magic - Only room for one team in Florida and Miami has a ring and more current star power.
Sacramento - Haven't Won a Ring since they were in Rochester. Barely even been in contention. Like to keep em', but can't.
Toronto - Never even been to a conference Finals, not enough history
Utah Jazz - Let's be Serious, Utah and Pro Sports.
Washington - Changed their name from Bullets. The toughest cut, but that pissed me off.

Edit: I'll take the Pacers instead.

Will trades be available? Something like "Rondo and the Celtics 1st round pick for Collison and Indiana's 1st round pick" or whatever? Not that I want to do that trade, just the first thing that came to mind.

MasterDurant24
10-03-2010, 07:49 AM

yeah, that's what he said.

OK, but do we have the rosters of the teams we picked? Do the Celtics have Rondo, Pierce, KG, Allen, etc, etc? Or are we starting from scratch and drafting from the eliminated teams? Do we have a 12 man roster and are drafting the 3 remaining to make 15? These are legitimate concerns.

I'll give everybody a day to look at the players and talk about trading picks and players. From there I'll put Vapid on the clock and we'll start the draft.

We'll go six rounds adding six new players to your teams existing roster. From there sort out a roster and depth chart and post it. We'll decide what to do when we get that far.

Throw the salary cap out the window, each player and each pick is a commodity you can draft or trade.

Waking_Life
10-03-2010, 06:33 PM
I think you dont necessarily need to give a day of waiting time. I imagine that as long as the first few picks have sufficient time.. that the rest of us can go over the list and make our own mock list. It would seem prudent given how long drafts tend to be. Just a suggestion..

Your team is going to be ridiculous, with the 9th pick you'll be in line to fill the only real flaw with the Heat. there are 4 centers on that list that are worthy of being picked 9th over-all and I can't see them all get picked before that (5 if you count Dwight, but I assume he'll be a top 3 pick).

Dont assume that I will be good at this. I enjoy the game but am mediocre at playing it. History has proven so in other drafts. :oldlol:

I did of course pick the Heat for their obvious value. :D

If you **** this up you don't even deserve to watch the NBA again. I might make stupid picks in the all-time drafts, but thats because I don't really know enough about old-time players, but in a modern draft I can dominate (as shown by my beastly team in the modern day NBA draft).

I want DWIGHT to form a twin towers with Hibbert :pimp:

I think Carmelo's probably a better all-around player than both of them right now though. You can definitely argue that those guys might have been higher picks based on the ability to build around them though. Paul has an argument considering how much he helps his teammates, but Dwight's not as good as Melo IMO.

Dwight's defense and rebounding are hard to come by though, and he still puts up 20 ppg on good efficient against most team. It kinda depends on the type of team you have really, a team with a lot of offense already could benefit from Dwight more then Melo and vice-versa for a good defensive team.

I mean his position is definitely the argument for picking him higher. Big, athletic centers who can affect the game on both sides of the balls aren't particularly easy to come by

Nevermind, I skipped a page while browsing.

My pick will be Gerald Wallace. An underrated scorer to go with my front court, and a capable defender who can lock down the opposing wing. I think he compliments the team well and him + Scola will do the dirty work. He can also get easy buckets and when we bring out the small lineup with Chuck Hayes he can run-and-gun with Lowry running the break.

http://www.nba.com/media/marc1_627.jpg

Marc Gasol saw his numbers improve across the board last year in his sophomore season for Memphis. Gasol averaged 14.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 blocks per game. His 58.1 field goal percentage was one of the best in the league.

Gasol would be the perfect center to plug up the middle and defend for a team that already holds LBJ, Wade, and the mid-jumping Bosh.

After the playoff breakdown, this team showed it needs somebody to lead the team, and there's not many better in that aspect than my man Chauncey Billups. He also provides even more outside shooting to a pretty good outside shooting group. I also like a point guard combo of Billups/Bibby.

Far and away the most valuable player in this draft...

The only All-NBA elite Big Man a pre-requisite for 85% of Champions in NBA history.

How did that happen?

I was thinkin' , alright, I'll have my choice between two of these three CP3, Durant and Melo and then somehow Howard falls to me.

If only the Pistons could have a player like him, ahhh soooo nice.

I think we should rate them based on best for 2010-11 and best for the next five years but I'm open to suggestions.

Not to be "that guy", but if were going to actually rate these teams their is a huge advantage to teams like the Heat (not to pick on you Zen, but seriously)

If you were going to rate teams you shouldn't have just given out draft position just based off of the teams record last year, but also looked at how much the roster improved and take that into consideration. An example of this would be the Knicks picking over me, Knicks are obviously the better of the 2 teams, but finished with a worse record so they get good draft position. (again not trying to pick on others, just using it as an example) You also should have done a regular instead of serpentine style draft. Teams like the Warriors need all the help they can get.

If the trade goes through, my next pick stays the same. I can't believe he fell to me given that he's a bonafide superstar, only a few seasons off from nearly two 30 ppg seasons and a slew of game-winners. He may not be 100%, but I'll take a 70% Gilbert Arenas on my team any day of the week.

Oh damn, I feel like a complete idiot. Sorry about that once again!

I guess this makes my choice: Chris Kaman. A good backup/starting center in case Yao gets injured and can take the place of Luis Scola to make a big lineup. (Yao + Kaman = slow as hell, but potentially dangerous for any team to go against as they clog up the paint).

And here's my lineup so far:

Aaron Brooks/Kyle Lowry
Kevin Martin/Shane Battier/Courtney Lee

Proposed 3 team trade:
Rip Hamilton for emsteez current pick

and

Danny Granger for Gerald Wallace

Why each team does it:
Rockets- Granger helps spread the floor for Aaron brooks, he's a driver and needs the space to operate in the paint. Also gives you a go to scorer, something I don't think Kevin Martin is suited for.

Bulls- Gives a veteran presence in the back court who also plays really well off the ball, great compliment to Rose.

Pacers- Wallace adds defense and rebounding to my team, Hibbert isn't known as a good rebounder. Wallace also plays off the ball a little better then Granger IMO, he'll be a good compliment to Deron Williams. I also have 2 people that I want to pick with my next pick and this trade will determine which direction I go.

Um, I'm going to hold out on this one. See if anyone will give me a little better deal. Don't particulary like the amount of defense and rebounding being lost.

Smith + Bargnani + 4th rd pick

for

Salmons + Bogut + 3rd rd pick

You get to swap picks, move Horford to his natural PF position, upgrade from a scoring, light rebounding Bargnani to a scoring, rebounding, blocking C in bogut.

I get a defensive upgrade at the 3, scoring PF and move Lopez to my C spot.
