I knew who tesla was and i know who edison is, but i didnt know that they actually had a rivalry going on between them. Its always interesting reading things like this, i wonder how different things would be if tesla was provided with the funding and the backing that edison got. I know he was on some waaaayyyyy ahead of his time type ish, some of his experiments and theories have yet to be duplicated by scientist today.

i find it disturbing that many people haven't heard of tesla. its a disgrace. Tesla was underrated. He wanted free electricity for everyone.

Edison was a douchebag. Genius but had a massive ego and didn't respect people. There were quite a few instances where he bought ideas from others and tried to sell as his own. He also used Tesla by hiring Tesla to invent for him then harassed Tesla + made Tesla work long hours for little pay.. Until Tesla got fed up with Edison and left. I think there was also some patent feud or something they had where Edison tried to patent something Tesla made or something while working for Edison.

There was also the whole AC current vs DC current fight. Tesla was pushing for AC while Edison was for DC. AC can travel longer distances better, be easier to maintain and be more stable. Then you can always convert AC to DC transformers for appliances in the house. Tesla, of course, came out victorious with Westinghouse's financial support (AC power was Westinghouse's baby)
