Walking off doesnt mean much when its a sprain, they dont swell up until a while after the fact. You might be right it could be as little as a week, but it could also easily be longer, we'll see

My point remains, I don't think he is a franchise type player.

If you can't understand that I'm asking if he is a franchise type player then why not be calm and ask for clarification?

17.5/4.5/5.9 rookie year on 0.462/0.437/0.885 shooting doesn't make him a possible franchise player? :facepalm

Man I'm not in the mood to go in depth but Curry is not what I would deem a franchise player.....too reliant on jumpshots and not big and strong enough for short.

Franchise player is a guy you build around, that can carry your team. Some guys are franchise players by default. As in they are the best player on the team and given that label "the franchise". Franchise players are guys like Kevin Durant, Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Kobe Bryant, Dwight Howard. You build teams around these guys. They are your centerpieces basically.

I dont see Steph Curry as a franchise player today. Future? Unsure, I cant say really. I'd lean towards no but who knows. He has a likable game and seems to be improving as a playmaker.

But yeah, Stephen Curry not a franchise type player. Hell, I would say Monta Ellis more of a franchise player than Curry.

Curry is a legit 23/5/9 on 60+ TS% type talent. Maybe even more if things go right. He can probably hit close to those numbers this year even.

In reality there are always only 5-6 true franchise players who are capable of turning garbage teams into playoff teams and decent teams into contenders, but if guys like D-Will, Amare, Roy, Melo etc are considered franchise players by most, I don't see why Curry can't be one in the future.

Hollow stats don't make you a franchise player.

Franchise player gets tossed around a lot now. Sometimes people even use it as just the best player on a team.

Is Kevin Love a franchise player? Probably not. (maybe one day, but I'm not sure. Especially if his coach won't play him more than 25 minutes a game) Iguodala? Not quite. Anyone on the Pistons? Not anymore.

Nonetheless, Stephen Curry could be a great player. He really surprised me and made me look like an asshole. I had no idea he'd be this good already. I thought he'd be like a middle 1st round pick (although I remember some people saying he'd be a 2nd rounder, so at least I wasn't that bad), and a good shooter/scorer, but not a PG. I think at one point I thought he might be like a Ben Gordon type player. Basically from day 1 he made me feel stupid. And I'm glad, cuz he's a damn good player already and I like watching him and now think he's just gonna get better and better.

I think a lot of you people forgot what Curry put up last year.

30/7/13
30/11/7
36/10/13
31/5/11
35/6/10
29/8/12
27/8/14

and the last game of the season
42/9/8

All while draining threes and getting a healthy amount of steals.

Find me another non-franchise player, capable of doing the same (in his rookie year).

He walked off the court. He won't miss much time. Maybe a week.

Walking off or not doesn't matter when you sprain an ankle. When you sprain it, it hurts a lot, but you never know how bad it is. You can just hobble off even if it's horribly painful (trying to "be a man" or whatever). I had a horrible sprain a few years back and "walked off", but then subsequently couldn't walk for about a week. Took nearly 3 weeks to be able to walk without pain. Couldn't play again for 5-6 weeks. Took care of it as best as possible too.

So really, it could be anywhere between 1-6 weeks. It depends on how bad the sprain is. "sprained ankle" doesn't sound bad, but it can hurt horribly and seriously prevents play of basketball. They need to not rush him back or it'll be even worse next time.

Can''t rush ankle injuries in the NBA man. Better safe than sorry. Hopefully it's not too bad, but you never know.

If you watched the play it wasn't that bad. He will miss the game on Sunday, and be back for the Wednesday game. Warriors don't have a legitimate backup at PG, and need him on the court.

Did you watch the games?

Regardless, you can't just ignore these numbers and games. It's VERY rare for a player to have games like that at the top of his game, let alone his rookie year. Clearly this kid is something special.

I watched a few. Still, CJ Watson had a 50 point game in that system.

Those 8 games were nice but the season is 82 games and 8 games pales in comparison of a season of consistency.

It's not just about the points. He had just plain silly all-around games. The stats are simply there for verification, but watching the games you can see just how brilliant he was.

CJ Watson type outbursts happens, even on other teams. It's probably more likely to happen on a high paced offensive team like the Warriors but again, this difference can't alone account for Curry's phenomenal play last year. He came onto a team with a ball-dominant player in Monta Ellis and still developed. He's started off this season very nicely as well.

Also, not that it matters all that much, but he was a beast in college. He's not some average type player who went through the motions and beasted out of nowhere.

You're going off of games. Franchise players (that was the discussion) have great SEASONS.

It's easy having great games in losses on a bad team relative to having a great game in a meaningful win.

I disagree with the last sentiment. Players tend to have better offensive seasons under Nellie due to his system and lack of defensive commitment.
