View Full Version : Vote for Paul Millsap for 2011 All-Star game
DeronMillsap

He is clearly the second best PF in the league right now, just behind Pau Gasol.
20.3 PPG, 11.2 RPG, 3.3 APG, 60.7FG%
4 double-double's so far in 6 games.
Yes, that's assists per game for a PF on a team with a dynamic PG.

What are Al Jefferson's stats?
18.3 and 9.5 while shooting 44% and 1.5 Blocks per game. Blocks are the only the stat he has on Millsap. It's only been 6 games but Sap has outplayed Big Al thus far.
I'm hoping he becomes an All-Star reserve cuz he's gonna get enough votes to start.
BTW, is Gasol playing PF or C or a mix of both since Bynum is out?

Points and blocks is all Dirk has on Millsap but that's because Dirk gets more FGA.

Let`s see how he does on our away trip from well vs Miami, Orlando and Atlanta before we take off. Millsap has been very good so far and if he keeps it up he will indeed be a star before the season is over and could be i for most improved player.

Wanna bet? I say Millsap and Big Al will demolish the Heat frontline(Bosh, Anthony, Haslem) this Tuesday night.
Better stats from Millsap and Big Al than Heat's frontline, you must vote for Millsap to be at the West All-Star game.
Better stats from Bosh, Haslem and Anthony, I'll vote for Bosh to be at the East All-Star game.
That's 3(two starters and a reserve) against 2(2 starters). Should be even.

Lol? Bet on for Bosh only, those 2 aren't gonna give stats.
Erm exclude obvious statpadding if it's somehow a...blowout lol.
If Utah does win, I predict it's all Deron. We have a weakness for elite PGs eg. Rondo CP3.

As expected since Jefferson isn't clearly used to the offense Utah is running the primary pick and roll sets through Millsap, But he's performed way above anyones expectations.
Whatever gets the team wins. But I won''t be calling Millsap an all star until at least 20 games in when everyone on the team gets a feel and time to adjust. And we see what Millsap's Role is gonna end up being on this team.
Like I said Jeff and Millsap will be are best frontcourt in a very long time in nearly every area.
Deron's had to play outside of his normal game in someways because of the adjustments that are still being made.
But I love the thought of us having a big 3 instead of just Deron-Jefferson like I originally thought it would be.
Gotta love Milly, He seems to work a lot better with Jeff then he did with Booze.
The Most impressive players so far for me have been CJ and Milly

OK, bet on Bosh vs Millsap stat lines then.
If Millsap gets better stats line then you must vote for him to be in the West All-Star. If Bosh get better stat line then I'll vote for him for the East All-Star.
Millsap is also playing with Deron and Big Al, os it's not like it's unfair. His numbers are showing his best player on the team but a lot of people would say Deron and Al are better.
3rd option vs 3rd option. Fair bet I think.

A Millsap for Dirk trade would get laughed off the table. You're comparing a role player to a guy who's led his team to 50 win seasons time and time again. A role player to an MVP. Not one GM would say Millsap is better than Dirk.
Combined with the fact that Dirk is better than Pau who you claim is the best PF and that makes this thread a joke.
Millsap is good at what he does. Don't try and make him something he isn't though. His stats will come back to earth and then we can compare Nowitzki and Millsap and see who comes iut on top. I would bet on the guy that has done it his whole career...

So you're saying Pau became better when he joined the most talented team in the league? Make Dirk a second/third option and watch his rebounds and fg % go up just like Gasol's did. When Gasol had to lead a team he couldn't win a single playoff game. At least Dirk led his team to multiple conference finals and the championship series. Thats something Pau never even sniffed before he joined up with Kobe's all star squad.

Can you build a team around him? Is he the best player on his team? Is he arguably not even the 2nd best player on his team? Has he been in an all star game or an all NbA team?
No? That's a role player. A very good one, but still a role player.

At the moment, he's playing like the best player on the Jazz.
How can he be an All-Star or All-NBA team when he's never been a starter before? Was Kobe Bryant an All-Star or All-NBA team when he was coming off the bench?
I've seen what he can do the last 3 years whenever Boozer was out with injuries.
Now, he's a full-time starter. He's putting up monster numbers as a starter. That's why this thread is here.

If he was that good he would've started over an often injured often maligned Boozer. Deron Williams is 100% without a doubt the best player on the Jazz. 5 games doesn't change that. Williams is arguably a top 10 player in the league. Millsap is arguably a top top 10 pf in the league. Big difference. Again, I'm not putting Millsap down. Just last night I was talking him up to some friends at the Wizard's game. However, to say that because of a couple games he's better than guys that are legit stars is hilarious.

They paid Boozer starter money, so they had to start him.
If Milsap's stats remain the same or gets better by late January, will you cast your vote for him to be an All-Star?

Fair enough. I expect the stats to drop but if he keeps this up then absolutely he deserves a reserve spot. Just not at the expense of Dirk or Pau who are the two best PFs in the league. Plus he'll have competition from Melo if he isn't traded, Duncan if he's listed as a forward, Durant who is a lock, and various wildcards like David West and even his own teammate Big Al.

I'm hoping they're counting Gasol as a center since he's been playing there this whole season, hasn't he?
Dirk will start at PF, I'm sure. Duncan shouldn't be an All-Star if Millsap's numbers continue to be better than his for this season.

Duncan/Yao depends on how much Yao plays.

Check out his game log from Nov. 21st to Feb. 23rd when he replaced the injured Boozer. Deron and others were out much of this time too. He carried them. They would have been no where without him. He was their MVP and was beat up playing through injuries himself. He outplayed all-stars David West and Shaq(who didn't even play back to backs) as a starter. Check out his numbers as a starter or in Dec./Jan.

Why they didn't get rid of Boozer and why they signed Jefferson is beyond me.
I won''t be calling Millsap an all star until at least 20 games in when everyone on the team gets a feel and time to adjust. And we see what Millsap's Role is gonna end up being on this team.

Until Sloan gave the players a beatdown in practice leading up to the OKC game our offense had more turnovers then assist. So really it's a process. Rome wasn't built in a day. When all is said and done we might have a legit Big three in Deron,Jefferson and Millsap.

Paul Millsap 20.3 points/11.2 rebounds/3.3 assists
Carmelo Anthony 24.7 points/7.7 rebounds/3.7 assists
Melo is a more versatile offensive player while Millsap rebounds better(obviously considering his position) but Melo is a above average rebounder, I am however impressed with Millsap's assists

He's averaging more pts on a lot more shots. TO's and stls are pretty close but Carmelo is likely to go up in TO's. Millsap will block more shots. Stats don't show D where Millsap is a lot better. He actually works at that end while Anthony doesn't.

All you *******s who negged me yesterday, gotta rep me NOW!!!
I'm not sure who neg repped you yesterday but if people are neg repping you just because they don't agree with you they are retarded.
Anyways, my foot's in my mouth a bit on this one. Insane game from Millsap. I still don't put him in the top tier of PFs and I still certainly wouldn't put him as the second best PF. However, if he keeps this up (not the 40 point game, just the 20+, 10+ games) he deserves to be up a top 4 PF.
Sick game.

Definitely voting for Millsap.
Guy is on my fantasy team, whats even more hilarious is I picked him with the 115th overall pick (9th round), 50 picks higher than his expected pick. Not even 10 games into the season he puts up a career-high 46 and gets 30/16. Steal of the fantasy season IMO

He went from a hard-nose hustle PF to a superstar PF(OK, maybe for tonight right now). If the Jazz keep feeding him the ball, he might be in Gasol, Dirk, Duncan's league soon.
I mean the guy got a good stroke, it's not like he shoots like Noah or other "great hustle" big men. Hustle guys aren't known for great shooting but Millsap can do that, so he does have potential of being a star PF.

Just so you'll know...Pau Gasol has never scored 46 points in a game in his career. Gasol has never made more than one 3-pointer in a game either. http://www.basketball-reference.com/play-index/pgl_finder.cgi?request=1&player=gasolpa01&match=game&year_min=2002&year_max=2011&age_min=0&age_max=99&team_id=&opp_id=&is_playoffs=N&game_num_min=0&game_num_max=99&game_month=&game_location=&game_result=&is_starter=&is_active=&is_hof=&pos=&c1stat=pts&c1comp=gt&c1val=&c2stat=&c2comp=gt&c2val=&c3stat=&c3comp=gt&c3val=&c4stat=&c4comp=gt&c4val=&order_by=pts

Oh hell yes im voting for him, he put one of the best clutch performances since Reggie Millers 8 pts in last 8 seconds and ended up with a buzzer beating gametying shot and then won the game in OT.
To bad he will never play that good in his life again, its funny how Heat bring out A+ game in every player and every team.

the only thing he did tonight that he never did before was shoot 3s, that might have been a fluke, maybe he works on his 3s or maybe he's just a naturally good shooter.
But last year when Boozer went out, Millsap had a long string of games putting up 20/14 a game, it is not like this was a miracle game and Paul Millsap is a scrub, he is one of the best PFs in the league who is finally getting the credit he deserves now that he's a starter.

Just because you act retarded 98% of the time doesn't mean you're not a Jazz fan so therefore you're on a Jazz fan list.
Because you respond to every positive comment made in the Jazz forum about the team ,the front office or Jerry Sloan with hate and it annoys me.

Look at these sexy numbers Paul is putting up against the so-called Top 3 PF in the West. Only Pau is doin' better.
Millsap: 23.9, 10.1, 3.0 and shooting 60% from the floor
Gasol: 23.4, 10.8, 4.8, and 55% shooting
Dirk: 23.7, 8.9, 1.4 and shooting 56%
Duncan: 15.4, 10, 2 and 57% shooting

Where's the hate? I like Jerry. But his time as the Jazz coach should have ended about 20 years ago when they went from 1st to 3rd like any other coach in sports would have been.
I supported O'Conner as well til the past two years because I know LHM was a cheapskate. But if they're going to pay luxury tax now and spend it stupidly than it's time to speak up.
Playoffs might be good enough for you and most Jazz fans but not for me. Sorry if that gives ya sleepless nites.

I knew it was too good to be true but it looks like Millsap is gonna get the Odom treatment when Okur gets back.
Sloan's been playing him less minutes(around 30 now instead of 38-40) and feeding Big Al the ball more. Millsap is barely getting 10 FGA a game in recent games. He's still shooting 45-60% from the floor but just not enough FGA.
I see Millsap working with Miles and the 2nd unit once Okur gets back.
Such a shame to waste a great talent like Paul. :(
