View Full Version : Who has the longest arms relative to height?

Might it be Tayshaun Prince or Scottie Pippen?
OldSchoolBBall

Dark horse candidate is Iverson. Prince, Pippen, McHale, Gasol, Bynum, Odom, Reggie Lewis, Durant, and this guy who used to play on the Spurs in the late 90's (forget his name, but his nickname was "spider") are all in the running.

among stars, Wade's got really long arms.
For rookies, Aminu has got some long arms.
I know Dwayne Wade has freak arms. It's sorta funny how a lot of players are assumed to be great leapers by casual fans when in reality they are often times average to good leapers with exceptional arm length.

DeJuan Blair is like 6'5 and has a 7'2 wingspan... but, his wingspan includes his wide frame, from shoulder to shoulder.

(man has Blair slimmed down since that picture)
George Hill is thinner, 6'2, for his size his arms are pretty long.

It's like that for most NBA players. Also their height. But in reality they have huge wing spans.

WTF you guys call yourselves NBA fans?
I have only followed the game for a year and i can say with certainty than Rondo has the biggest height to wingspan ratio. a 6 foot guard (6'1" in shoes) with a 6 foot 10 wingspan!!!!!!!!!!
have you guys got ANY idea how frikkin crazy that is. This is why i know Rondo is a special player and will be in the league for many years. His hands and arms allow him to play like a 6 foot 5 guy yet he still has the pace and the handles of a little fella.
My other honourable mention goes to Nate who is only 5 foot 7 and has a wingspan of 6 foot 1 which i thought was very impressive.
The taller you get generally the longer the wingpsan so it doesn't really impress me much above the 6 foot mark

well true considering there are about 5 guys shorter to him to play since wingspan began getting measured
but relative to height robinson wingspan isnt that great
his wingspan is about 5% more than his height

This. Rondos wingspan is supposedly 11% of his height. That's pretty crazy. People don't understand how much an advantage long arms/big hands are in basketball.

Broad shoulders, long arms, huge hands, and bad shooting usually go hand in hand. I went through the same shit. Regardless, he's in the NBA so he must be doing something right. Still, at 24 years old you would think his shooting would be better. His form reminds me of my little brothers...

First guy I thought of. I'm still shocked he's not an elite defender, he has the physical tools - quickness and length - to shut down anyone's penetration.
Larry Sanders - 6"9 without shoes, 7"5 wingspan.
Marvin Williams - 6"7 without shoes 7"3 & a half wingspan

what a douchey post. as others have pointed out, its probably maxiell (among active players and going by actual listed heights and wingspans). His wingspan is 10.5" longer than his height. that beats rondo or roddy, who should also be in the discussion.

But relative to his height Jason Maxiell's 10.5" more wing span than height is less long than 10" more wing span than height for Rodrigue Beaubois.

meh. proportionately, maxiell's wingspan is 1.136 longer than his height. Roddy (assuming the 6'0" and 6'10") is 1.138. so, its not really that big a difference in proportion, despite the extra 5" maxiell has on him.
