I would have defended him in that thread, but I didn't feel like arguing with the Beasley nut hugger.

Love is a beast and the best player on the T-Wolves team. 2nd time this week he has gone for a 20/20 night (23/24 earlier in the week).

Hopefully this wakes Rambis up and he realizes he should play his best player 35+ minutes EVERY night.

yep, i have no idea what rambis is doing lately. i think rambis has a 'screw love over' clause in his contract. he got benched the game after his 20-20 game. love is a top 5 p4p rebounder in the game easily.

Yes, really.

Love has 6 double doubles this season and 4 of them he had 16 or more points and 16 or more rebounds.

I know you are a huge fan of Beasley, but outside of averaging 18 points a night (only 2 more points than Love), Beasley doesn't do much else (5 rebounds a game, 1 assist, 1.3 steals+blocks).

It had been 28 years since a player had a 30/30 in the NBA. Amazing.

2007* class. and you ppl laughed at me, that year when I said that HS class will go down as the all time greats when all of those players hit their prime. These guys are all between the ages of 21-23 years old they are still 2-3 years from entering the beginning of their prime. We will be seeing more and more of these type of games.

I know you are a huge SuperCoolBeas fan, so you will argue to the end of your days that Beasley is the best player on that team. I get it. I disagree with you.

At least the T-Wolves finely have something to look forward to since Garnett has left. It's been a sad, sad time in Minnesota since then.

Sounds good. I will admit though, I do hope Beasley continues to get better, because when he was at K-State he used to kill the UT Longhorns, so I was really hoping he wouldn't end up a bust at the NBA level.

If Flynn develops and Minnesota somehow finds itself a legitimate defensive center, they will be a very dangerous team.

I knew there was something special about that 2007 HS class when I realized all of them, the top ones in that class, started dominating the AAU circuit as underclassmen in their Freshman and Sophomore years. It wasn't just one or two of them, but several of them.

People forget that a lot of players blow up their Junior and Senior year, but with those guys it was 7th,8th, 9th and 10th grade. John Wall was unranked until his Junior year when he went to Pangos Camp, and jumped to the #2 best player in the country.

OJ Mayo and Mike Beasley, correct me if i am wrong, were both invited in ABCD camp as freshman in high school holding their own against the top players the 2004 HS class. and taking pictures with Jay-Z inbetween games.

I end there.

OJ was 19 years old his first 3 exhibition games that year. Then he turned 20 years old early into the season. He is a year older than than his high school class. Still it shouldn't have mattered if David Stern didn't imply the terrible one and done rule. It is a waste of everybodies time.

Rose was 19 his entire college basketball freshman year. Beasley was 18 for about half of it, then turned 19 during the season.I am not too big of an age guy though. It is all about durability and how much your in shape. Tmac is only 31 years old and look at him.

Even though OJ is the oldest in his class, last time I checked he is the only one who hasnt missed a single game in his career so far, while averaging the most minutes played. Iron Man

Why doesn't this guy get more playing time?
Traditionally, because he's not just bad, but really, really awful at defense. Like potentially the worst big man in the league at defense. He can't block shots...or take away open lanes...or move.

A lot of his rebounding prowess is because he abandons assignments to stake out position for loose balls. This is NOT necessarily a bad thing. Because that IS probably how he's most effective, especially when considering that he's also one of the best outlet passers in the game.

But if you check box scores, for the most part, day-in/day-out, he has a +/- in the -25 range, while everyone else on the team has a considerably higher number. And this is DESPITE the low # minutes he often plays.

Of course, the big issue here is that what he does well, he does like, league-leadingly well. So it's probably worth coming up with a roster-building plan to maximize his strengths while taking away his weaknesses. But it's not an easy task to build successfully around a PF with Love's skills.

What they really need is a ball-dominant, scoring PG who is brilliant in transition, and a C who can block shots, play D, and run the floor, but favors getting out in transition rather than starting the play...because you can't play effective transition ball with two guys rooted to the deep backcourt.

Maybe they can make a play for JaVale Magee. I dunno.

Either way, Love is fun to watch, and a cornerstone of my fantasy team.

I'm just not sure how useful his gaudy numbers are to his NBA franchise.

People forget. Both Beasley and Love were top 5 draft picks in the 08 draft. They both have loads of potential and Minny fans should be happy to have them on the same team

Things like consistancy and defense will continue to get better for both of them. There's a reason they were drafted that high and now this draft class is looking better and better then I originally thought.

QUOTES FROM LOVE..

QUOTABLE: "K-Love just whispered in my ear and said, 'I'm going for 30 tonight.' I was like 30 what? I didn't know he had 18 at the time."
-- Michael Beasley telling us what Love told him on the bench in the third quarter
THE STAT: 31 points, 31 rebounds and five assists are the stats of the night.
TURNING POINT: With 7:10 remaining the Timberwolves held a one point lead 91-92. A missed Micheal Beasley shot was rebounded by Kevin Love and put back in to start a 14-3 run that the Knicks could not recover from.
QUOTABLE II: "You know what I'll be Robin since Batman is the assassin and Robin does all the intangibles."
--Love referring to his "partner in crime", Beasley when asked who is Batman and who is Robin
QUOTABLE III - "My dad always said if you can't get close enough to the basket throw it up there and get the rebound like Moses Malone."
-- Love when he was told that the last 30-30 was Moses Malone in 1982
HOT: Love was the story of the night but Beasley continues his hot scoring streak. After scoring 42 at Sacramento on Wednesday Beasley recorded 35 tonight.
NOT: The Knicks in the third quarter. After shooting 46.9% in the first half, New York shot just 27.9% in the second half allowing Minnesota to erase what was once a 21 lead.
FANTASY SPOTLIGHT: Love is on fantasy rosters for his rebounding. He grabbed 15 boards in the third quarter along tonight finishing with a career high 31.
NOTABLE: The Timberwolves have won back-to-back games for the first time since February. The Knicks are currently on a 4-game losing streak.
UP NEXT: For the Timberwolves Sunday @ Atlanta, Monday @ Charlotte, Wednesday vs. LA Clippers. For the Knicks Sunday vs. Houston, Monday @ Denver, Wednesday @ Sacramento

Exactly. They should trade him to OKC for Jeff Green and a 1st. Problem solved.

they would never make that trade

if they lost love they would have no rebounding

plus green is too similar to beasley

the wolves cant trade love

After one of the best drafts ever (2003), Detroit title in 2004 this is the third historical basketball event that Darko participated. Good job Darko! :applause:

And he did nothing to earn it, what makes this accomplishment even greater. Go Darko!

That was 1 sick draft class.

not where i go. people rightfully made a big deal of rondo's 29 points, 18 rebounds and 13 assists in the playoffs. there's only a handful of players that can approach 30-30 or 20-20-20

There are already multiple instances of challenging long-standing records and best-evers that have happened this season...Rondo's early season assist run...Kobe's fastest to 26k...but none of those were stickied. Why is this one different? Especially when Love grabbed like 20 of those boards at the expense of bothering to play defense?

Because he actually did it, he didn't get "close".

Trust me, if Kobe broke the scoring record, it would be stickied.

WTF is the "close" about? Love didn't set any records. He just hogged a bunch of boards, shot the ball like crap, and defended poorly.

Rondo DID set a record for assists through so-many games. I think it was 3 or 4 where he had the record. Kobe DID set the record for fastest to 26k. No "close" about it.

KLove got a nice little fantasy basketball statline while playing a mediocre game overall. That's all.

Not even in the same universe as being sticky-worthy.

It gets stickied because he's white.

I guess I should answer "The Question":

I stickied this thread because for the first time since I've been paying attention to basketball a player got 30 points and 30 rebounds in an NBA game. If a player just went for 30 rebounds I would have stickied it, but tacking on 30 points makes it, in my eyes, the most significant statistical accomplishment of the season to date.

Some of you may disagree with the sticky, that's fine, but who amongst you has ever seen anyone go for 30 points and 30 rebounds live in an NBA game?

And now you know. You may stop asking "the Question."

Rondo DID set a record for assists through so-many games. I think it was 3 or 4 where he had the record. Kobe DID set the record for fastest to 26k. No "close" about it.

Rondo getting the most assists through the first 3 or 4 games is a silly record. Who cares. Maybe it's worth mentioning on ESPN or ISH but it's not a big deal. If he broke the single game assist record, that would be a big deal. It's like "KG just broke the record for most double doubles by a player on Tuesdays during the month of November". Who freaking cares. No one even keeps track of sh*t like that except ESPN stat nerds trying to give commentators something to say.

Kobe being the youngest to 26k points is a slightly bigger deal, but still not that big of a deal. He breaks the youngest player to X points record every night he plays. 26K is just an arbitrary number.

If you can't see the difference between those records and a stat line that no one has put up in 28 years... :facepalm I hadn't even turned 1 yet the last time that happened. It is something that 95% of the posters here have never seen in their lifetime. Something that Shaq, Duncan, Dwight Howard, and a ton of other greats have never done.

It's pretty ridiculous to say that someone who got 31 points and 31 rebounds had a "mediocre" game. Jesus H. Christ. The point is not how well he played anyway, the point is the extremely rare, unbelievable stat line.

It gets stickied because he's white.
