I just think he sucks to be honest. He hasn't been worth a shit in a while. He is a waste of space and money. I don't really mind if he stays. I am happy enough that Farmar is gone. He is the main one I wanted out.

Yea right. Most Laker fans hate him. Go on Lakersground.net or Clublakers.com and he gets killed. Why do we hate him? Hmm. He can't shoot. He can't DRIBBLE. Don't even act like you guys don't cringe when he puts the ball on the floor. He can't make layups. He can't defend. He can't jump or grab rebounds. He's slow. He's injured for 2/3 of the season. He apparently has "IQ" :rolleyes: . That's just what Laker fans use to justify his contract. He's there to run the offense for the bench and feed the bigs but isn't what what Blake does but he does everything Luke can't? So what's the need? He's magically healed to play in volleyball tournaments with his boyfriend RJ yet never in shape for the season. Oh yea, he makes 5 million a year. I for one can't WAIT t'ill his next injury. It's gonna be hard with him playing 5 mins a game though and still managing to be terrible.

I don't hate Him. But he is way over paid. For Whatever reason when he is on the floor the offense just runs smoother, I really don't know why he doesn't space the floor, can't dribble, drive, slash, or post up. But can just make some solid passes.:confusedshrug:

Because he had a contract year, got paid nicely, and has pretty much gotten worse and more injured every year.
Look at his salary, and think about what kind of role players you could get with that kind of money and how much better they are than Walton and you'll see why many Laker fans despise him.

he is one of the smartest players in the league and an elite passer for his size.
unfortunately, his agility and quickness are pedestrian at best.
Luke has the tools though, IMO, to have a big effect on a game even with few shot attempts.
Make Luke a focal point of a weak team like Minnesota and I think he would surprise a lot of people with his ability to create, and could probably put up some well-rounded numbers subtract his 3pt %.
totally subjective though, because I favor high IQ players over athletic freaks, as unwise as that might be :confusedshrug:

Kind'a a letdown. Although his dad dealt with a lot of injuries too.
But, he's a good passer. And I don't really see him play much. Injuries? I dunno. He has potential I guess, but hasn't done anything worth while. He did made a couple of big plays in the Finals.

More like now Barnes is around. walton was forced to be the back-up SF the last few years which is partly what hurt the bench.

I live in Los Angeles, and I know people DO NOT HATE HIM.
May be he is overpaid a bit, but as a bench player he did what he was asked to do. He did not asked to be a starter, he did not complain. Every team needs a quality player like this.

For the most part Laker fans want to see him do good.
They want him to make a shot or a great pass.
But he's not even in the game enough to be consistent at anything..

As for Luke he's good when the bench is stagnant or having trouble initiating the triangle, Luke is that one guy off the bench who knows the system well enough that his off ball movement and passing can settle down the bench when they start playing over their heads, forgetting the extra pass or pushing the tempo

The reason the offense runs smoothly with him on the court is because he's a great passer and he knows the offense better than anyone not named Kobe. So he knows where he needs to be and where his teammates will be.
If only he was a good corner shooter...
Why do Lakers fans hate him? It's a good question, him and Sasha always get the hate, even though they've been in LA for years and always been ready when they where called upon.

He started 60 games in the '06-'07 season and averaged 11pts/5rebs/4asts and Mitch Kupchak decided to award him 6yr/$30 million as a restricted free agent when NO TEAM was after him. It was an overreaction that cost us nearly $5 million a season. Not to mention since then, he has been hurt and has only played sparingly in just a few games in 3 seasons.
Is he a good passer? Yes.
Is he a good rebounder? No.
Is he a good scorer? No.
Is he a good defender? No
Is he relatively healthy? No.
Do you want him on the floor in the 4th quarter? No.

I am a Laker fan, and I find myself defending Luke to other Laker fans.
Its not because he sucks or anything like that, its just that with this Lakers Salary cap figure, the most paid of the little used guys is Luke. And with that salary he has been perpetually hurt since he got his big contract. Not a sound investment, but the guy is a good player and I like him.

To be fair, the Laker coaches ask the players to move the ball in less than 3 seconds. The guys who don't this are the dominant ones who can both score and create for others off the dribble, Luke isn't one of those players obviously.
Pretty sure he runs the triangle almost to perfection.

It's all because of the contract he signed. At the time he signed his 6 year 35 milish deal he was the Lakers starting small forward. Ever since he's struggled to stay healthy and hasnt been able to produce like he did in his contract year let alone start anymore.
Many fans feel that his contract has prevented the Lakers from making moves, but this year shows otherwise. They signed Blake, Barnes, and resigned Brown.
Still there are a lot of Lakers fans who are "mad" at Luke for not being anywhere close to the player he used to be and for making that much money. If he was making 2 mil a year, nobody would be mad at Luke.
I can also confirm the crowd is not booing, they are saying LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE. He's always been a crowd favorite.

Lakers fans don't really care all that much about Luke now. He's the 9th man at best on this team, so that means he won't be losing or winning any games for the Lakers.
Lakers fans hated him a few years ago when he had to play big minutes and his limitations were on full display. He IS a great passer and runs the offense to perfection, but that's about it. No real jump shot, no real post moves, not really a rebounder, not really a defender. I personally wanted to drive to LA and choke the hell outta him when Kobe passed him the ball in a road game with like 1 or 2 seconds left and instead of putting up a shot he passes it back to Kobe as time expires.
Kobe looked like he was going to kill him walking off the court. Lakers fans don't hate him because in situations like those now he's on the bench cheering like all of us...
