Hm, I would say that the moon landing was probably the most iconic in American history.
As for the pictures, I would say Kent State Massacre one should be on the list. I would probably put that over the Planet Earth one probably. I mean that Earth picture has been taken MANY times so it is nothing extremely special except that that specific picture was the first one ever taken.
The other one with Lee Harvey Oswald probably wouldn't make it onto my top 20. The other ones are too important compared to that one to make it.

Yep. Kent State, 1970 I believe. Very very odd picture, everyone around her looks oblivious to what's going on.

Ironically, the picture of Oswald being shot is the most remembered/iconic/defining picture of the entire Kennedy assassination. Oswald's death isn't overly significant, but the fact that it's the lasting image of Kennedy's death certainly is.

Very bothersome picture to me as well. Look at the people in the background walking around with their hands in their pocket as if nothing is happening without even looking her way (only a couple people are actually looking in her direction). Probably don't even give 2 $hit$ about the commotion. I am sure that lady crouching on the ground is crying loudly so it isn't like nobody can hear it. :facepalm

If I recall the shooter was in a tower taking pot shots at people around the campus.. many students had no idea what was going on.
This was my kid days , when people sat , laid or stood any where , because the times change in regards to correct behavior.
Any case don't think people were ignoring this girl or the body ... it was a situation where they might not of heard the shots , but people just falling down. The number of deaths i do not recall - 13 ?

You're thinking of the U of T shooting. This was when the Nat'l Guard gunned down some students.

This photograph of Florence Owens Thompson (32 year old mother of 7) is one of the great representations of the Great Depression. The photograph was taken by Dorothea Lange after Florence had sold her tent to provide food for her children.
