Dirk and Kobe are the same age and Dirk will most likely age better because he doesnt rely much on athletecism... I think he will still be top 8 but its not a must that hes on the list. Just an idea.

Uhh, Kobe > Dirk as of right now and we all know guards will always have longer careers than big men because of the wear and tear from all the banging the big men will suffer through out their career.

That doesn't make any sense. The wear and tear they suffer is from banging downlow in the post. Dirk is mainly a jumpshooter (back to the basket jumpshoooter, highpost type thing), while Kobe's been attacking the rim much more this year.

You are right. Dirk is not the typical type of PF, so maybe its different. It is true though that big men tend to have shorter career than guards.

Not a fan of Wade?

I don't think his body will handle his lack of Jump Shot. He is not AI. He needs to continue his Jump Shot. And I am not listening to the whole Jordan wasn't a good shooter garbage, Jordan was one of the best post players in the NBA and had the ability to attack any weakness his defender had,

Best PGs in five years:

1. Chris Paul (could be an MVP by then)
2. Deron Williams (multiple-time All-Star in five years)
3. Derrick Rose (Steve Francis's athleticism with Deron Williams' mindset)
4. O.J. Mayo (Like an evolutionary Chauncey Billups)
5. Shaun Livingston (Isn't progressing like everyone thought, but will still be great)
6. Kirk Hinrich (maybe never an All-Star, but one of the league's most solid PGs)
7. Jameer Nelson (see above)
8. Steve Nash (If he hasn't retired)
9. Javaris Crittendon (Best college prospect at the position)
10. Jordan Farmar (Starter by next year?)

Best SGs:

1. Dwyane Wade (Will be toward the end of his prime)
2. Kobe Bryant (Past his prime by then, but here's guessing he has his fourth ring by now also)
3. Eric Gordon (although here's hoping he is badly injured by then, he's the most brilliant scorer in the nation not currently in the NBA)
4. Gilbert Arenas (still consider him a 2)
5. Joe Johnson (Developing into a true superstar)
6. Kevin Martin (League's most improved player)
7. Brandon Roy (Still think he's the best player in this year's draft)
8. Daquan Cook (Will be immediate impact whenever he's in the NBA)
9. Michael Redd (Could still be in his prime by then, but I don't think his 30 ppg days will last)
10. Ben Gordon (Probably too streaky to ever be much better than he is now)

Best SFs:

1. LeBron James (Duh)
2. Carmelo Anthony (Duh)
3. Kevin Durant (Well, the first three were easy, at least)
4. Luol Deng (Potential 25 ppg scorer by then)
5. Adam Morrison (Started slow the first few games, but has been impressive overall)
6. Rudy Gay (May never live up to his ability, but can be very good even if he doesn't)
7. Andre Igoudalia (Ditto)
8. Paul Pierce (Will be past his prime, but still productive)
9. Julian Wright (Even if he can't shoot, he's at the very least a taller version of Iggy)
10. Andres Nocioni (Probably won't be on same team as Deng for long)

Best PFs:

1. Chris Bosh (I hope his career path doesn't follow Garnett's, but I think it will)
2. Carlos Boozer (Deron and Boozer the new Stockton and Malone?)
3. Elton Brand (I don't see him falling off much over the next few years)
4. Dirk Nowitzki (Could still be one of the 4-5 best players in the NBA; I'm just guessing he falls off a little)
5. Tim Duncan (Already slowing down a little, but'll still be good)
6. Kevin Garnett (Ditto, although he could be done by now)
7. Brandan Wright (He's like a smaller Bosh; has the wingspan of a condor)
8. Zach Randolph (As Aldridge and Roy develop, his 25 ppg days will end)
9. Tyler Hansbrough (Plays harder than anyone I've ever seen)
10. Joakim Noah (Next Marcus Camby, maybe)

Best Cs:

1. Greg Oden (Nice college debut: 14 points, 10 boards, 5 blocks off the bench)
2. Dwight Howard (May be nicknamed 20/20 by then)
3. Yao Ming (The best right now)
4. Amare Stoudemire (Starting to regain old explosiveness)
5. Emeka Okafor (Developing into the dominant shotblocker/rebounder I thought he'd be)
6. Pau Gasol (Will be in his prime, still)
7. Andrew Bynum (Progressing faster than I thought)
8. Al Horford (My favorite player in college basketball)
9. Lamarcus Aldridge (My favorite player in college basketball last year)
10. Jermaine O'Neal (I'm getting bored of typing stuff)

EuJazz
12-02-2006, 10:34 PM
Greg Oden (Nice college debut: 14 points, 10 boards, 5 blocks off the bench)

Now I expect Oden to be one of the best centers in the NBA when he hits the league (if not the best), but I'm still waiting for his performance against a team that isn't Valpo.

Game's predictions are pretty much his educated guess, because he is assuming A LOT of things.Exactly. When you're talking about five years from now, that's all you can do.

And I totally forgot Josh Howard. No excuse for that; I would've had him at No. 5 at worst, probably No. 4. I always forget someone obvious. Keep in mind, this was pretty much off the top of my head.

Devin Harris, though.....he's one of my all-time favorite college players but I don't know who on my list I'd take him over.

devin is the 3rd best player on the mavs right now. I dont care what the stats say. Hes better than Livingston and to be honest its not close. Livingston has alot of potential and i still think he will be a star but devin is getting there quicker than him. Nash will most likely be retired at that point and jordan farmar over devin is just funny. I also wouldnt put anyone besides maybe oj mayo who isnt in the nba ahead of devin.

We should talk about this after the next 2 drafts. I promise you Derrick Rose will be better then guys like Felton and Jameer. Kevin Durant will also be a lot better then guys like Gay or Granger.

AKADS I don't really like your list. God save the NBA if Frye, Gooden and Wilcox are top 8 PFs.

:applause:

these threads are hilarious. props to jailblazer and the game for having somewhat of a respectable list.

Best SFs:

1. LeBron James (Obvious)
2. Carmelo Anthony (Ditto)
3. Kevin Durant (Lights out scorer; will avg. around 25 ppg and 8 rpg)
4. Andre Igoudala (Hopefully will develop an offensive game)
5. Adam Morrison (Will score a lot but not much else)
6. Luol Deng (Has potential but may never realize it)
7. Rudy Gay (Could be a star in the league)
8. Thaddeus Young (Athletic lefty could be huge on offense)
9. Julian Wright (Defensive presence but no jumper think Gerald Wallace)
10. Chase Budinger (Very athletic and good shooter)

Best PFs:

1. Chris Bosh (KG-type player)

No shock that pre LeBron stans Chris Bosh is mentioned multiple times, was a beast before playing with ball controlling LeBron.

No shock that Gasol barely got discussed pre Kobe. After Kobe? Kobe haters started changing history to discredit Kobe.

I don't think anybody ever had Gasol top 8 players in the league, even when he got a lot of credit on the Lakers :confusedshrug:

He actually had Rose and Durant out of the top 8 AT THEIR positions. I wouldn't give to much credit for that considering they were beasting at their age brackets. That is only like saying Wiggins has a chance at being top 8 of his position in 5 years.
