View Full Version : Did Scottie Pippen Ever Get a Nike Deal?

I've never saw a Scottie Pippen Nike comerical. Hell, this guy was Robin for all those years helping Jordan win chips. Get this man on a Nike commerical and/or Hans comerical.

I dont know if it was with Nike, but I distinctly remember Pippen in commercials. There was this one hilarious one where he goes back in time and dominates 1950's players. Look it up on youtube.

He didn't have commercials but he was a Nike athlete, yes ... and he even had his own signature shoe in 1997 and 1998.

I remember Pippen in a Nike commercial, themed "silent assassin".....at the time it seemed cool, but a bit corny now. Youtube it.

Also, recall a "I jam, therefore I am" commercial but not sure if it was Nike.

No they sold well. So much so they have retro'ed both Pippen models twice, and even did a Pippen shoe where it was a hybrid of his 1998, 1997, and his 1996 Air Max Uptempo shoe which he wore and was kind of un-officially his signature shoe.

Back when his sig shoes originally came out in Chicago, I saw a ton of people wearing Pippens. Not as many as I did Jordans, but you get the point. It was a very popular shoe. I bought some retros of the 1st Pippen, and I tried playing ball in them and couldn't. They felt way too heavy for me. But it's also cause I got the brown ones that releases last year that looked like boots and I think they were made with a heavier leather on purpose.

What do you expect, bro?

Jordan single handedly MADE Nike what it was.

Jordan carried the brand from the mid 80's till the late 90's.

The whole time he was the best player in the game, and the most marketable.

Barkley was more boisterous Nike athlete, and he got more marketing in the mid 90's.

Late 90's saw the rise of Penny (before injuries destroyed him) he got ample marketing, and the product was hot.

Hell, retro Jordan releases still do the grunt work of Nike's sales to this day.

Speaking of which, next X-mas they are retroing my favorite hoop shoe of all-time.

The AJ XI Concords.

I'm buying like 4 or 5 pair. That's what I plan on wearing on my wedding day and everything, haha

Yep I had the 3's in 7th grade, the first year I started playing in my YMCA league. I loved em.

And Foster obviously kids would get the Jordans because he's JORDAN. Kids dont appreciate sidekicks, they like hype and popularity. That's why the never dress as Robin for Halloween, they're Batman. You don't appreciate a player like Pip til you learn the game better. Hell I was the only Scottie Pippen fan I knew of growing up (YES I was Pippen for Halloween when i was younger lol)

Are you really serious?

Jordans were and are a status symbol.

Jordans are still the most superior on court performance shoe, year in and year out.

Plus Jordan was the best player in the game, who is going to willingly take Pippen's over Jordan's?

Great shoes, just not Jordan's. Jordan's are the best function and aesthetically pleasing basketball shoe.

But like I said, I saw kids in Chicago rocking Pippens. Not so much anywhere else. When I lived in Dallas, I rarely saw people wearing them.

I'm guessing it's a PC modification of a Live or 2K from a couple of years ago. Those guys add old shoes, jerseys, faces, all of that stuff. I just Googled Air Way Ups and that's one of the images I got in return. Those were the Hyperdunks of the NBA for a year. It was the default Nike shoe. The MZ3 was almost on that level the next year.

Yeah it became pretty obvious after your second post or so in this thread that its only purpose was to bash Pippen. Not sure WHY because nobody would ever debate against the fact that Jordan is the biggest solo name in the history of shoes....but congrats on proving a point that everyone agreed with you from the start on. I'm in the black/grey Jordan Iconz because I had a 40% off code with eastbay that I had to use that day. They're good enough, look weird on my feet though because of the tongue.

I have some LeBron Soldier 5's on deck though, sitting in the trunk waiting for the day I make a cut and my Jordan's bust, or I come down from a big jump and feel like I feel the floor under me (cushioning bottom out) or whatever. On the LeBron's, they fit about .5 size small but I ordered them online so I couldn't take them back, plus 13.5 is a difficult size.

The Pippen 1's are great though, I'm about to grab another pair of them (tons on eBay) and ditto with the Penny 1's. I'm looking to get into those Foamposite 1/2 cents too, but I don't do 100$+ on sneaks so I'm still waiting to catch them under MSRP.

Finishline.com has some beast colorways of the Hyperfuse too, black upper with the all red or all blue or all voltage outsole.

I got nothing against Adidas, like the Heat Check in the P.E colorways, but that's all

Nick Young in ID Kobe 5's. It's easily the most worn by a player other than the signature guy, shoe in the league. Behind him is probably LeBron's with so many Nike guys in the Soldier 5's and LeBron 8s, and then further behind is KD who used to be big too, but not as many players feeling the KD3 as they were the KD2.

Me neither. Usually. Not for shoes I'm going to be beating up on the court on a daily basis. But at the same time, with any physical activity it's important to have quality product on your feet while playing.

My girl just copped me the Air Jordan 2010 Welcome Home (Wade's) for $70 a mark down of a whopping $100 at the Nike Outlet.

We'll see how they feel on the court.

I'm waiting for the Nike Zoom Go Low to be my next hoop shoe purchase. Not too expensive, clean look, sure to be lightweight ... feature zoom, and they're low cut so they're good in my book.

Wade, CP3 has some, and Damien Wilkins I remember wearing the 2010s this yr. They look horrendous IMO. My favorite NBA player in terms of their sneaker selection is probably JR Smith and Dajuan Blair. He has worn almost every shoe I have mentioned (like 3 posts up) that I like with the Spurs blk/gry unis and JR Smith because he goes crazy with the ID's and then to have the dunk of the season in the Jordan CG 11's, increased swag by a trillion

Not to mention in 1996, when THESE Air Max came out ... Jordan's were $125. There was no shoe that cost $165 and certainly no other player's shoe could sell at that price point. The Jordan's didn't increase to $150 until 1998. Only basketball shoe higher than that was the $180 Nike Penny Foamposites.

Please show me ANYTHING backing up any of this lol

And i think the debate was more towards the claim that Howard charged twice as much for his shoe than Pippen (and even more than Jordan) when the only difference was a different air bubble

I think when you went to the shoe store as a kid and asked for some Juwan Howards, the guy working there just said "uhhh...these" and your parents told you they were $160 bucks so you'd feel better about em

They weren't anyone's signature shoe, and certainly not Juwan Howard's, a ton of guys wore them. They did make a cheaper version without the full length Air unit and just in the heel, but I can't remember anyone every wearing them.

don't you feel kinda silly after i updated the post, I bought them myself so if I told you the Penny's were $200 you would say I was lying right when in fact they were actually more than jordan's since the jordan's were $165 like i said earlier.

Like I said just because you wore bargain bin Nikes doesn't mean that that wasn't the price of them they're even $159 now.

Lots of Nike commercials.

His "Air Maestro" was his best Nike Commercial, even better than Stockton's commercial wearing the Air Maestro. i used to tape Inside Stuff when I was little, may go and dig out some of those VHS tapes, for Jam Sessions and Nike/Reebok commercials alone. (Reebok was actually #2 from like 91-94, adidas #3)

Some of the most comfortable hoop shoes I ever played in
I had those! They were some great shoes, they fit so well and were light as air man. I might hve to buy some more of those somewhere.
