Just thought id start one like the illinois one even though there probably aint many arizona fans on here
heres to POINT GUARD U!!!!
we have a great chance to win a nc this year with, budinger, williams, mccellen and radneovic and shakur leading the way
Chase has a chance to be the best freshman u of a has ever had and thats saying alot...he seems to do everything to help us to win
Marcus is a unbelieable talent...he can score at will
Radnenovic is outstanding...he has been playing at a high level since he got here...one of the most underrated players in the nation
Shakur has unbelieveable talent...with his passing improving if he can improve and lead the way we can win it all
Jawwann has had injuries screw his career but a healthy jawann can play in the nba one day
dillions d is sick
wise is a widcat for life
hill has shown promise i never would have thought from him
bret is a hustle player
fendi is huge and has lots of promise
prince and tangera have yet to show their promise but i hope they can develop
walters hopefully will be redshirted and can come back next year to help
we got BAYLESS, HORNE and zane johnson coing in next year...we keep on stacking this program
hopefully we can survive when lute retires which hopefully wont be for another 7 or so years
p.s heres a weird piece of info, we have no players from az on our roster...so much for homegrown talent
so all other arizona fans lets unite

Zona's my "other" team so i gotta keep this thread alive...along with the other 2 people.
Chase is amazing. gonna be a great NBA player....but i think people have forgotten about marcus williams of late. He's been crazy the last two games. i think he'll be quite good in the NBA too.

Another nice win.
I can't see this team not making the elite 8. unless they get upset by one of those UAB type teams that play gay ball and catch you when things aren't going well.

I don't think this Arizona team is as good as the '05 or the '03 team. Very talented, but I'm not sold on them being a top-flight national title contender yet.
another sham. i bet the arizona/illinois games was reffed by big 10 officials.
that's why it was a sham. lolAs far as I know, I don't believe that Randy McCall, Robert Donato or Doug Shows typically work Big Ten games. And here's two other newsflashes:
1. We were called for 18 fouls to their 10. Not complaining about that number, I think it was about right, but it's hard to whine about the refs when you had the edge in the calls.
2. There's no such thing as a "Big Ten ref."

I agree. They still have alot to prove, but so does every other team in the NCAA right now except maybe Wichita St. They can't do too much more than they've already done.

I agree. They still have alot to prove, but so does every other team in the NCAA right now except maybe Wichita St. They can't do too much more than they've already done.True, but there are already several teams that I think I can quite comfortably call title contenders/favorites: UCLA, Ohio State, Florida, North Carolina. Then there are teams that could very well be there by March, but have at least one major question to answer: Arizona, Kansas, Pitt, LSU, maybe Washington, maybe UConn.
statman32
12-21-2006, 11:05 PM
i dont see how you can all ohio st for sure contenders right now...I know oden is great but the team is young and I think they will run into some trouble in the big 10
By the way Pitt doesnt impress me too much...they have a great coach but gray seems like a taller nick collison that cant shoot
TheGame414
12-21-2006, 11:17 PM
They may be young, but so are a lot of other teams. I wasn't as high on OSU as others going into the year, but they're legit.
Three of their starters are experienced upperclassmen: junior Jamar Butler,
5th-year senior Ron Lewis, and senior Ivan Harris. And it doesn't matter a single bit that Oden's a freshman because he became the best player in the nation the second he stepped on the court.
So that leaves Conley, who's playing well beyond his years; Cook, who's their No. 2 wing scoring option, and Lighty, who's a role player.
I don't see how their youth is a problem. Not like KU's inconsistency, Arizona's aversion to guarding people, or the lack of firepower of Wisconsin or Pitt, for example.
Now, North Carolina, I could see their youth biting them come tourney time, because they really only have Rayshawn Terry in terms of big-time upperclassmen. Same with Kansas, with six freshmen and sophomores in the rotation, but not to the same extent as with UNC.
statman32
12-21-2006, 11:22 PM
Arizona's aversion to guarding people
obviously you havent been watching their past games where they put the clamp down on san diego st,houston, and memphis all great offensive and three point teams
you cant just listen to the media...once a team has that reputation its hard to break it even playing good defense
TheGame414

Memphis, while explosive, is sloppy, and c'mon, you're gonna hang your hat stopping San Diego State and Houston? Arizona ranks 120th in raw defensive efficiency. That's bad. Even their ranking of No. 41 in adjusted defensive efficiency isn't great. No Final Four team in the last three years has been worse than No. 27 in adjusted effiency or No. 52 in raw efficiency, and the average adjusted ranking of the last 12 Final Four teams has been No. 9 nationally.
They may be improving, and what I saw of the game last night did look better, but they still have a long way to go on the defensive end. An Illinois team that was without Randle and Smith did whatever they wanted offensively, despite being on the road and facing a near 3-to-1 foul discrepancy, for about 32-35 minutes of that game.
If the media was saying anything negative about Arizona's defense in the 2006-2007 season, I wasn't aware. I'm going by what the numbers tell me and more importantly, what my eyes have told me.

Im just saying they are improving from the beggining and if they keep playing like they have been playing they will end uo being a excellent offensive team with a decent defense

Sorry, I should've put up a link. It's from www.kenpom.com, one of my favorite basketball websites.
And I certainly think they could be a title contender. But while they may be improving defensively, they aren't close to being there yet, in terms of winning a national championship.
Obviously everyone needs to improve over the course of the year. But I don't think Arizona is on the short list of teams that has every facet of the game in place or close to it to be considered a title favorite right now. They're one of the teams on the next tier that still has a glaring hole to fix.

Hah...
Rankings like these are such a joke...
I mean...C'mon...#3 Texas aTm(15-2) over #4 UCLA(15-1)?
#11 Memphis(13-3) over #19 Arizona(13-3)?
#16 Georgetown(11-5) over #26 Oregon(16-1)
#36 Gonzaga(12-6) over #43 Washington State(15-3)?
#54 Texas Tech(13-5) over #70 Stanford(11-4)?
#27 LSU(12-4) over #60 Washington(11-6)?
...And that's just the PAC-10 teams...
I'm sorry I can't take these rankings very serious......
How 'bout these rankings?... I'll just call 'em OregonDuckFan...or for short...ODF ratings:pimp:...
I'll throw in some skewed data and re-arrange things so they please my eyes:lol: ...
#1 :UCLA, OREGON, ARIZONA (tied)
#2 WASHINGTON STATE, USC (tied)
#2 STANFORD, CAL, WASHINGTON (tied)
#3, #4, #5 etc...: Every other team in-between those listed above and Oregon State and Arizona State...
Yeah that looks about right...

I'm sorry I can't take these rankings very seriousThe problem with the RPI or Kenpom's rankings or anything else like that isn't the ranking itself. It's the way stupid people interpret them. They aren't a ranking of who the most talented basketball teams are. It is strictly stastistical data. They imply nothing further. You incorrectly infer more than you should.

Finnaly a big pac10 win...Chase showed why he is a top 5 freshman this year
This team can be so good but at times sooo bad on defense..I do think bringing jordan hill into the starting lineup has helped the defense alot

jk. This year I'll be less of a homer. I like the look of our team a lot better this year though. We should have a lot more teamwork with a couple "cancers" gone and our defense intensity should improve with the addition of Kevin Oneil to our coaching staff.
and yes I just quoted myself :)

Statman so you're a big AZ fan? thats good to see.. who are you saying is a cancer this year? Williams and Stafa were the worst players and cancers I've ever seen come through here that got so much hype. . .im liking Bayless and Horne alot, Budinger is way too passive and a defensive liability, im thinking his nba hype is gonna slowly lower jsut like Williams did.
But you need to check out Brandon Jennings, and everyone else who's an AZ fan check him out and join the facebook group i just created if you want to:
