Don't be so quick to descredit this statement.
This is not a jab at one particular person but as GoBB so eloquently puts it, there are so many flipflop fans on here. Not that there is a problem with it. Many people are great basketball fans but don't follow one team. But some hop on bandwagons claiming "their" team, but when the success fades, so does their loyalty (me remebering Golden State at the end of '05 season).
Compiling this list will also give an accurate fanbase for newbies who may follow a team and know whom to conversate with.
The whole Utah phenomenon is a prime example of todays game. Where the faulk were you guys last year? I honestly beleived this was the only team on ISH that didn't have a fanbase. Now it's like they had followers the whole way through. I say, if your a loyal fan of the team, you should talk em up even more when they are down.

i do confess that i was a closet fan of the spurs back in the early 80s-- the days of ice, mike mitchell, johnny moore, dave corzine, artis g, mark oberding et al

havent seen any of them around sa lately (although ice attends to some games still)


the sonics are #1 in my book but the second tier (closet teams) are:

the knicks (since the days of clyde)
and the clippers (since the days of magic, specifically 1985 when i couldnt get laker tickets without selling plasma) i started going to clips games in the old sports arena when there were only 4,000 people there and we could wander down to the expensive seats and the ushers wouldnt give a care. to me, its those 4000 people who are the hard-hard-core clipper fans--- very rowdy/ very loud since the 80s
