View Full Version : Kevin Garnett injures leg in Dec. 29 game vs Pistons
brwnman

The AP reports:
Garnett left in the first quarter with a leg injury, and the Celtics looked ragged without him in a 104-92 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Wednesday night. Boston lost for only the second time in 17 games, but the Celtics are suddenly facing some adversity they hope isn’t too serious.
“It is a muscle injury, not a knee,” Boston coach Doc Rivers said. “You always worry when a guy goes down without anyone around him, because those always seem to be severe injuries, so that was the first thing that went through my mind. We don’t think this one is too bad, but we’ll see. He’ll probably miss some time, and we’ll have to adjust.”

I absolutely hate the Celtics, but this right here...this sucks. You never want to see a great player like Garnett get hurt like this. I'm glad that, with the exception of that one douche, everyone seems to be putting this in perspective and realizing that this is a HORRIBLE blow to one of the best teams playing today. I hope this is something that some rest will take care of and that he'll be back to give us a good Lakers/Celtics rematch next year.

From ESPN:
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. -- Kevin Garnett (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=261) has left Boston's game at Detroit with a right leg injury.
Garnett grimaced as he threw down a dunk late in the first quarter, then immediately started limping when he landed, favoring his right leg. He made it back to midcourt before intentionally committing a foul to stop the game.
He was able to hobble off the court but was limping badly by the time he got back to the locker room. He was taken for X-rays and is not expected to return to the game.
Garnett had surgery on his right knee in May 2009 after missing all of that year's playoffs.

KG=Glue of the C's
We don't want more glue in the world. With more glue, they would inevitably cut down on production, and therefore more horses would roam the streets. It would be chaos! Horses trampling down the urban cities and people with allergies would die. DIE. The population would shrink, horses would continue to reproduce, and soon enough, an earth ruled by the horse.
Nice job, KG. Ruining planet earth and all.
I just hope his carreer doesn't end by injury.

Nice to see a ton of Laker fans upset about this. If this is a serious injury, we might have just been robbed of a great end to the current Lakers/Celtics rivalry. Hopefully he can make a full recovery before the playoffs this year. Having a serious injury 2 out of 3 years would just be awful.
This was caused by Shaq falling on him in the locker room earlier.

how many different areas of the leg are there between the knee and ankle? shin? calf? :oldlol: boston fans should breathe a sigh of relief that it wasn't his knee. it's not looking like this is leading to surgery so that's good. also, for people who said it didn't look that bad....his knee injury that put him out didn't look that bad either. non-contact injuries are sometimes the worst but boston may have dodged a bullet here. make no mistake, they aren't going to the finals without the big 4.

It wasn't a knee injury at all. Sounds like a bad strain/cramp or a pulled calf muscle. No way it's anything serious and he finishes with a dunk like that.

Now that I think about compared to last year this has been an overall healthy season for most teams

Don't be too quick to rule out the C's especially if the injury is less serious than originally though but with the Celtics track record on injuries I'm not buying any report until KG is back on the court.

Same, Celtics will downplay any injury, especially serious one. Still season is young, so hopefully KG will be back for the Playoffs even if its quite serious. I dont really care if he plays in ASG, or what team seed is, health is the only factor I'm worried about.

I usually check the Celtics' injury report and I remember KG being listed as having leg soreness for a few games before this injury.

The Celtics didn't have much of a chance to beat the Heat in a playoff series (meaningless regular season games, yes, but not when it truly matters in the playoffs), so this pretty much clinches the Miami "South Beach Superteam" Heat the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference for the 2010-11 NBA season.
The Magic are nothing, and will likely get bounced in the second round.
Now it's all up to the LA Lakers and the health of Andy Bynum. The ONLY chance the Lakers have against the Heat is to murder them down low with their girth, length and size since their perimeter is no match for the Heat's.
The Mavs look good right now, but at the end of the day Terry/Butler is no match for Wade/James, and Chandler is nothing more than a role player, and Kidd is washed up.
Here's to hoping the LA Lakers are at full strength when they play the Miami Heat in the 2011 NBA Finals.

Their best big man averages 13/9. :oldlol: :oldlol: :oldlol:
Bosh > Duncan
LeBron > Ginobili
Wade > Parker
You think a team whose 3 best players are worse can beat the team whose 3 best players are better? :lol :applause:

I agree... I actually think the spurs will be a very bad match up for the heat...
The spurs major weakness is their lack of length with the big men.. Well the heat also have this problem... But much worse than the spurs... So spurs have an advantage here. Plus the speed of Parker, Manu and hill will give Wade and bron trouble on both ends....
If I was a heat fan I would NOT want to meet the spurs in the final...
In saying that I think dallas and lakers would probably beat the heat as well...
The heat have problems on the roster.... They are winning now but come playoffs it will be obvious.
I hope Garnett is ok though... With all this heat crap I would love to see the C's bounce them before the final....

I watched the video a few times now, it looks like it could have been just a cramp or a pulled muscle.
I called it. :pimp:
I get small little leg cramps a lot so I could tell by his reaction. His must have been worst though, probably a pulled muscle. You can still walk around with it but it hurts like a motherfker.
