I could always trade them in for a few Spanish onions, which I could chop up in front of Ray's stupid face to make him cry. That's assuming he'll still be conscious after having had his head severed from his body and slow roasted in a 300 degree oven for five hours.

I have really been craving some well-done (not a temperature reference) duck as of late.

I really want to make my own duck-thigh confit, but I'm having trouble locating anything other than whole ducks and duck breast, let alone finding reasonably priced, high-quality, duck fat.

If my local meat markets disappoint me, I guess I'll have to order off the internet. Does anyone have any experience with ordering temperature-sensitive food-related products via the internet? I know there are alot of options out there, but I worry that quality may suffer depending on the distance of shipping.

agreed

If it weren't the current time, I'd heat up a generous bowl of chili, finish it with the proper garnishes (sour cream, grated cheddar cheese, minced chives, Green Tabasco Sauce) and post an image for all of the ISH OTC to behold.

Served with a side of my world famous homemade cornbread, there is nothing IMO that can warm you up on a frigid winter evening.

Last week I had a big pot of chilli made, perfect timing for the ridiculously cold temperatures (relatively speaking of course) here in PHX.

Out of curiosity, what exactly is "ridiculous cold chili weather" in Phoenix?

I'm not trying to make this a d*ck measuring contest, or whatever, but in terms of comparison

Yesterday (Tuesday) in Minneapolis, we had a high of 8-Degrees F, which felt a total of 20 degrees less due to wind chill.

I'm not a huge dessert person... but I must say I've had some pretty awesome desserts. I'm all across the board in terms of what piques my interest with the best desserts I've ever had.

Simplicity:

Molten Chocolate Cake with homemade Vanilla Ice Cream and a Fresh Berry Sauce

Tradition:

Homemade Cinnamon Churro with a chocolate sauce (tasted like f*cking the best hot chocolate I've ever had)

Technique:

Lemon Custard with macerated berries, shortbread cookie crumbles, and a strawberry sauce

ive been craving a cheesesteak from jims on south street for months.

Google suggests that "Jim's" is an actual cheese steak established currently residing in Philadelphia "Home of the Cheesteak" Pennsylvania.

I've never been to Philly, but I've had some half-way decent Cheese Steaks, and some absolutely awful Cheese Steaks, around the country.

Although I've never been to Philly, my favorite cheese steak is one that I make out of extremely thinly sliced Rib-Eye steaks, placed on a light but hearty hoagie roll, topped with caramelized onions, roasted peppers, and a provolone mornay sauce.

Not exactly traditional, but pretty f*cking taste-tacular.

That creamy white sauce is most likely called a Tzatziki which is a seasoned yogurt-based sauce often found in the middle east and mediterranean.

There are few things put together than a well-done lamb pita.

Do you have a Dean and Deluca in Minni? I go to the one here in Charlotte and order the duck leg/thigh quarters and a big ass jar of duck fat. They can usually get it over night so ordering from their website would probably be a good option too.

I had an Asian summer roll made with duck confit the other day. Outstanding.

Sadly there is not a Dean & Deluca in Minnesota. However, their website sure is fun to look through. Very disappointed with their selection of pork, and how they have elite beef products, but very little pork.

Whats wrong, pathetic alternate account, are you scared to try new things??

I've actually lived in Korea for 2 years, and Japan for 1. Both countries have far better food to offer. Katsu Don and Don-kass are both terrible. They are basically what Korean and Japanese people think we eat. Korean and Japanese Western food, haha

And trying new things...... I have eaten bull ***** in China, goat testes (mountain oysters) in New Zealand, live octopus in Korea cow intestines in Nigeria and my least favorite........ "cheese" in Mongolia.

The OP isn't "post a food of which you think everyone would like its appearance".... its "post what you wish you had"

Fair enough. I just take offense seeing something you could hardly pine for being chosen from two countries with such amazing food.

America has its own amazing culinary culture.... yet people are posting pictures of Chick-fil-A and Arby's. Fast food.

Why did that not offend you??

I have a soft spot for fast food. But, those pics compared to the rest are laughable. (with 'The Cone' thing as an exception)

I have had some great meals in the states, but in North America, nothing beats Poutine in Quebec City or a Donair (or Donair Pizza!) in Halifax

What is wrong with American food?? Just because millions of people eat McDonalds every day doesn't mean there isn't a rich culinary tradition in the U.S. Some of the greatest chefs in the world have restaurants across the country from NYC to Chicago to New Orleans to Vegas to LA.

Because the country itself is young and a melting pot of culture, the food is reflective of the all the cultures that make up this great nation.

If you're looking for a type of cuisine that is purely American, look no further than Traditional Southern Barbecue.

I haven't had a decent pizza in a while. Something like maybe caramelized onions + meat, can't choose. I've never tried a shrimp pizza, that sounds delicious.

And yeah, someone posted sushi. Had some sushi last month, before that over a year, so now I'm all about sushi. Gonna meet a friend this weekend and take her to have sushi for the first time. Should be fun.

There's a pizza spot in Minneapolis that has makes a shrimp pizza with fresh roma tomatoes, fresh house pesto, and a creamy garlic sauce instead of marinara.

Its pretty awesome

I make them myself. They are hard to get outside of NY and Florida, and even then you have to search high and low.

the Jamaican ones maybe....but here in Newark they are everywhere. One of the few things I'll miss about this city

Yeah that's exactly that I pictured in my head. None of that manufactured BS pizza you get from Sal's or whatever.

Portsmouth, NH and Newburyport, MA have good food, but still, I'd much rather eat Boston pizza, if you know what I mean.

Also? I've only had lobster once in my life. Was talking with some co-workers this morning and I was asking about it, I might get some this weekend just for me. I don't even care how much it costs, $50-$60 whatever.

F*ck off with all this lobster talk.

BTW, IDK if you read what I said, but I really wanna get one this weekend. Should I have the place steam it for me or should I do it myself? Also, what are the best basic sides? I was thinking some rice and maybe some steamed veggies. I really don't know.

Do it yourself, it's quite easy. Get a pot large enough to handle the crustaceans in question. Fill about 2in. with water and season with a handful of sea salt. Get to a rolling boil. Dump the lobsters in and put a lid on the pot. They'll be perfect in 20 min. Serve with melted butter (I like to add some fresh lemon juice to the butter to cut the richness) some boiled red potatoes, cole slaw, and some nice crusty bread. For dessert go for something with Maine blueberries.

reading some of this I feel so UN-traveled.
Never been out of the country. Don't know about foods and a barley even know about any kind of "good food" cuisine.
I only know American and even the parts I like are crap.
Don't eat Lobster or seafood at all. Most everyone I know says I am missing out.
Even if I did go to Japan or Germany or anywhere I could possibly be a little girl about stuff and be like "eww I don't want to eat those testicles or mussles or brains or tongue or fishes .. . And that sucks because I already have formed opinions about that stuff and it grosses me out. In life though you have to at least TRY new things but...I don't know.. .maybe I will never eat sushi..maybe I will never eat bulls balls.. I don't know ..

I'm simple. But if I keep eating fast food and what nots my whole life I will become over weight ..
