Both set to drop March 8th. Any of you guys gonna get either? I liked last years version of both games a lot. Don't know how you guys feel about baseball games but i'm looking forward to playing these.

Is that Mauer again? I never played MLB 2k10, but The Show 10 was probably the best sports game I've ever played. I loved Road to the Show. I might not get it for a while though until I see what all changes from '10 to '11.

Same. Unless there are enough of us on here to maybe start an online league, then I'm buying for sure. Other than one game destroying bug (that could be avoided), MLB 10 was pretty good for me online. Tons of fun.

That would be pretty cool. I only really played maybe 3-4 games online but would definitely be down for that. I remember at least 5 or 6 of us playing MLB '10.

They haven't released a baseball game in years over here..

Probably cause of that Belfour guy.. whatever his name is..

I never tried an online game. Only because I'm weary of playing a baseball game online for some reason. But I'd be down for a league with some people from here.

I busted out The Show 10 today, actually, and played some of my RTTS. I completely forgot that I had made it to year 2019 and had my pitcher boosted up to a 99 in every category. Opening day of his 10th year...

9 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K

I'm like you and Qwyjibo, though, I don't plan on getting '11 unless there's some big awesome new feature.

Me and you need a rematch if you get '11. I think you beat me by 1 run when we played. (this is posterize246)

I've already traded in last year's edition for some credit on '11. I only have like 3 total games so upgrading every year just for rosters is fine with me. :lol

It's the way to go IMO. Why let games that you'll probably never play again just sit and gather dust? I've been thinking about doing that too. I have a couple games I'll trade. I'm done with Enslaved and Little Big Planet. I'm waiting to see if Gamestop has MLB 11 for one of their "get 50% extra trade-in credit when you buy this" promotion.

I'm definitely down for playing a game. I know everyone is going to be picking the Phillies every time again but as long as you can only use 1 of those starters, I'm cool with that. :oldlol:

You should give it a shot.

I found it really hard to hit because facing a human pitcher is just so different than the AI. If the other guy sees that you can't hit a certain pitch, you'll keep getting them until you hit it. There were always some good cross-ups too like following up a big hanging curve with a high fastball that you think will drop too but never does. Just like in real baseball you need to capitalize on mistakes. Most of my games ended up 3-2 or 2-1 scores. Close tense games.

I liked that there were no cheap exploits that people could use (at least that I saw). There was only one game-crashing bug that sometimes froze you if you paused and you ended up having to forfeit.

I wish I put in more time into RTTS too. Gonna do that more this time around I think.

I mainly play 10 online with my friends, and none of us are gonna get 11 this year. Plus I don't want to spend a ton of money since I'm already getting FN.

My best moment in this game was a 20K outing with Kershaw online. I get greedy for K's with my SP. It's cost me the game a bunch of times, but that 20K outing was worth it.

I just struck out 23 times in a game and lost 2-0 online.

It felt like when I pressed to hit, it didn't register for 1-1.5 seconds after. It was brutal. No excuses too though. I chased some UGLY low changeups and even with the poor response time, I would've probably racked up at least 15 K's. The only legit hit the other guy got was a flyball that my LF probably should have caught but somehow went over his head.

Batting just felt so slow and heavy. It was like a chore. It never felt this bad last year. I hope this is fixed somehow. I'll give it some time.

Was going to hold off on getting this but couldn't do it. Went ahead and buckled yesterday. Honestly, I don't see any real noticeable differences between 2011 and 2010. The main reason I bought 2011 was because I had bought 2010 used back in the summer and was starting to have freezing issues with it.

I'm awful at hitting the ball, just like last year. It took me probably 20-30 games to figure out how to hit. I can't do analog or swing stick. I do the classic hitting with the swing button and using the left analog stick to aim. Until some minor league rosters come out on Sportsconnect, I'm just going to concentrate on RTTS. I'm already 7 or 8 appearances into year one with a starting pitcher. Got from the bullpen to a starting role in AA after just four or five appearances out of the bullpen.

clipse026
03-11-2011, 10:09 PM
That is what has kept me from getting 11. Nothing looked different. I tried the demo and struggled big time with the stick controls. And I just downloaded an updated 2011 roster from Sportsconnect anyway so I can play with Damon and Manny on, and Crawford off the Rays. Not need to buy the next one from the looks of it.

Played my first game online and won 2-1, Red Sox vs. Yanks. I had 20 strikeouts with Lester (9 in a row at one point) and didn't use him in the 9th inning.

Went to Bard in the 9th and couldn't pitch with him and the guy got guys on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. Then he tried a squeeze bunt which he missed and his guy was tagged out at the plate (dumb). Struck out the guy to end the game.

Played my first franchise game and won in 14 innings on a Jose Bautista walk-off HR. I still looked like a fool at the plate for the most part. I still can't really identify low changeups outside the zone well. Outside sliders get me too.

I love this game.

I'm struggling at the plate as well, have a hard time recognizing pitches, it's like, i won't get a hit for 5 or 6 straight innings, then i'll blast 2 or 3 homers in a row, and win cause i dominate at pitching.

I think that's the general feeling with the game right now. I've been reading stories about people playing online games where both have no-hitters going into the 9th of a 0-0 game. Or 1-1 games in the 15th inning where both players just agreed to quit because hitting is so difficult.

I cannot throw a curveball for shit in RTTS.

I mean, my 97 mph 4 seamer, cutter and circle change are DEADLY, but I can't locate a curve, even though my control is a 89 and I hit the yellow part of the meter almost always. I don't understand it.

Oh, and I had a no no going into the 9th the other day and my phone rang. I answered it and got into a half hour convo. I came back, first pitch I threw was a gapper.

GG Poster/State.

I hate this game online so much. Anything you practice is single player doesn't mean a single thing because the timing is so way off when you're hitting online. I was "too early" on everything. 82 mph changeups, 92 mph fastballs, 78 mph curveballs that I swear I had timed properly. TOO EARLY, somehow. I feel like either I have to play single player or multiplayer only because getting used to one will doom you until they fix this game.

I read that if you choose a minor league stadium, it lessens the lag. Less things happening on the screen that way. That's why I did that.

EDIT: Here's our game's boxscore: http://www.theshownation.com/boxscore/542593 47 strikeouts between the two of us :oldlol:

The timing is just really bad online. It's also pretty much impossible to check your swing. The lightest of taps still turns into a full swing.

KG215
04-13-2011, 07:23 PM
How many times per game are you striking out against the CPU?

When I first got the game I was K'ing 12-15 times a game and drawing 1-3 walks. Now, I'm down to 10-12 a game, which I feel is still too high, since I'm doing that even against a team's #4 or #5 starter.

Qwyjibo
04-13-2011, 07:35 PM
I'm usually in the 10-12 K range when playing the AI. I still get fooled badly on low changeups and let too many fastballs high in the strike zone go by me. I always use the "regular" swing until I hit 2 strikes, then I use the contact swing. I almost never use the power swing.

With online I'd basically have to condition myself to wait a bit longer to make better contact. But then that's gonna screw the game up for me in single player where I'll probably be late on everything. I'd rather they just fix the online issues since that should be expected of a game these days.

MeloMike

Anytime I leave a game with a runner on base, the bullpen almost ALWAYS allows the runner to score.

Then they tie the score, and then our bats regain the lead and Chad Qualls and his 7.00 ERA vultures the win off me. Happened 4 times in 10 starts :lol

irondarts
04-28-2011, 07:52 PM
I've gotten a lot better at hitting. What i do is always pick 4-Seam FB on the Guess The Pitch, there fore if it's not right it's probably going to be something off speed and i'm less likely to swing, Also, when they do throw fastballs, i use the power swing, in fact i use the power swing almost all the time, and i hit home runs like crazy. If you're not getting on base and want to score runs, just use to power swing, because if they leave one over the plate or hang a breaking ball, it's out of there. I hit a 500+ foot HR with Pedro Alvarez.

When I face Dickey, I use the "Guess The Pitch" feature and always guess the Knuckle Ball, when it tells me I guessed right before the Pitch is thrown, I just lay off of it, because most of the time it's a Ball. When the count get's to 2-0 he'll throw an 86 mph Fastball and I crushed it most of the time.

2B - Orlando Hudson
SS - Manny Machado
C - Jesus Montero
RF - Kyle Blanks
3B - Pedro Alvarez
1B - Derek Norris
CF - Cameron Maybin
LF - Pat Burrell

Rotation:

Mat Latos
Rich Harden
Casey Kelly
Jarrod Parker
Dellin Betances / Tyson Ross

Made tons of trades, got Montero and Betances for Heath Bell and Aaron Harang and made some other ridiculous trades that would never happen except in a video game. But man, this game is awesome. Don't think I've played another game in months.

Also started a new RTTS as a First Baseman for the Indians, then got traded to the Rays, about to make my ML debut.
