Kareem's sky hook and Shaq's drop step and baby hook/dunk are the 2 most unstoppable, IMO.

Nah, in terms of being an unstoppable move, I don't think that ranks that highly on the list, in fact, Duncan's turnarounds and jump hooks were better high percentage shots than his bank shot. He did have the face up game with the 12-15 foot bank shot or the straight away jumper from out to 18-20 feet and he could put the ball on the floor, but his bank shot alone doesn't rank among the most unstoppable shots/moves in NBA history, IMO.

Hakeem's dream shake

I think that more than any specific move, Hakeem was so good because of an assortment of moves. He didn't have one particular move that was as automatic as Kareem's sky hooks or Shaq's drop steps and baby hooks, but what made Hakeem so good was that he could keep the defense guessing. His favorite move was that baseline fadeaway which sometimes he'd set up with the dream shake or shoot it almost immediately after catching, it or go with the quick spin. But he could also go to the middle for his jump hook, and his face up game was great because he could shoot outside and actually handle the ball extremely well for his size. By the 90's he could shoot off the dribble at a pretty good percentage. He also became excellent at spinning and drawing a crowd, but then kicking it out to shooters. In fact, Houston's offense was predicated on Hakeem drawing defenders around him so the shooters could get open shots.

Maybe you're right. Iconic would probably be a better description than unstoppable for Tim's bank shot.

Evidently Wilt had no unstoppable moves. Pretty remarkable for a guy who averaged 40 ppg in his first seven seasons, outshot the league average in FG% by HUGE margins, and set some 130 records which still stand.

Shaquille O'Neal's Drop Step:

http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2008/writers/marty_burns/02/06/suns.trade/p1.shaq.jpg

Arguably the most physically unstoppable move of all-time. Impossible to guard 1 on 1, and so dominant that the other team fouled him half-way through the move to prevent a guaranteed basket. It was also so dominant that the league had to legalize zone defense to contain him.

Michael Jordan's Fadeaway:

http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2007/1214/nba_g_mjordan_400.jpg

The original master of the fadeaway, a lethal post move used by the best post-up guard to ever play the game. This move was so aesthetically pleasing, graceful, and reliable, that many other great players have tried to replicate it.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's Skyhook:

http://www.coachlikeapro.com/Images/game_pics/jabbar.jpg

Magic calls it the "the most beautiful shot in basketball." Another seemingly unblockable shot patented by one of the best centers to ever play. Unfortunately, no big men seem to have the courage or the ability to continue this shot in today's game.

Kobe Bryant's Jumpshot:

http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/2676/koberesized1wb6.jpg

It's the ability to rise up and shoot over any defender, any contest, anywhere past halfcourt. It is the same jumpshot that has netted Kobe so many scoring binges and historic records. The deadliest jumpshot of all time.

I find the following most offensive and unstoppable.

Vlade Divac's flopping.

Benn Wallace's free throw shooting.

Stan Van Gundy's insistence to go with Jameer Nelson in the finals.

The Clippers being more business oriented than wanting a functioning team.

Dwights inside game before Hakeem - DH's game was foul and offensive.

I don't really understand how some of these are considered moves. Magic's fastbreak? How is that a move. He was great in the fastbreak, probably the best ever, but he achieved his moves while running one. The entire fastbreak isn't a move. Same goes with the people who said Kobe's jump shot. I mean, really? Just any Kobe jumper?

Maybe I missed it, though it doesn't belong with the skyhook and dream shake, Melo's stepback and Duncan's bankshot are two worthy mentioning.

Speaking of blocking shots...

I also believe that Kareem's sky-hook was a deadly shot, but there was one player who routinely blocked it, and it was a Chamberlain who was well past his prime, and playing on a surgically repaired knee. In the 71-72 WCF's alone, Chamberlain blocked some 15 sky-hooks. He also held Kareem to WELL under his career FG% of .559 (in their 28 H2H meetings, Kareem shot .464 against Wilt...including .434 over their last ten.)

One can only wonder a prime Wilt could have done against Kareem.

to whoever negged rep me on the jordan push comment. i mean it is what it is. the refs never called foul. i mean jordan been using the push step back crossover drive/ step back jumper ever since the early 90s. im not taking away credit from jordan as a player, but the refs obviously let alotta calls go to help jordan. the refs also let jordan get away with alot of shit to make up for all them years the refs used to make phantom calls against the 80s bulls whenever they played against the bad boys pistons during the regular season and play-offs, cause honestly the refs used to call bs fouls on jordan all the time against them in the 80s. so it's fair game. jordan still earned his rings regardless, of phantom calls or not.

Any time Yao Ming got the ball with a bit of space under the basket, doesn't need to jump high to dunk it in, and if you foul him he hits 5 out of every 6 free throws.

Makes the time when he got blocked by Nate quite remarkable.
